The Game Chest, Torrance CA

As an employee, I had instances of not being properly excused for lunch breaks, and was withheld my proper pay. I faced attitudes of Ableism, Racial Discrimination, Religious Discrimination, and Sexism from the owner. When I requested to talk to HR about it, I was denied by the owner and immediately silenced in the following conversation. Hours were moved around in a way that punished me as a direct result of a conversation with a female coworker that was given the opportunity to talk that I was denied.

3 years later - they've lied to their employees saying I settled my wage claim. Sent my household a catalog addressed to my late mother of 9 years, and banned my brother (who was in good standing) when he complained about the mailing as well as about the religious discrimination comments he heard behind his back in-store.

Not so friendly environment like other reviews state, only star they are getting from me is because I was able to purchase something for my daughter. Other than that very rude personnel, employees don’t take pride in what they do nor to represent the company. Company has a kid working with no manners whatsoever.

The good: Lots of interesting games and toys to explore. Friendly staff. Gaming events every week.

The not so good: I've been there 3 times to find specific games and have yet to leave with the game I wanted. First time. The game wasn't in their system and I was told they couldn't get it. Second time, different game. Only one version of the game in their system (not the version I wanted of course), it's not in stock, they weren't sure when it would be and they don't do special orders so they can't get me the version I want. Third time, different game, same result. Only one version in their system, not sure when it will be back in stock and no special orders.

I would love to be able to support the store and buy stuff from them but if they don't have the things I'm interested in AND they are unwilling to get it for me then why should this be the first place to look when shopping for games?

This is so much more than games! You'll find fun things for every person you can think of, literally from 3 yrs to 93 yrs. It will take more than one visit to take in all they have to offer and most definitely worth exploring!

Vast collection of board games, puzzles, toys, etc. Very pleasant staff. Weekly gaming events. Spare tables for customers to host their own gaming sessions.

My wife and myself went to a mall in California called the Game chest. Every day people go shopping and buy different things at the California mall.

This Game Chest has a lot to offer. When we went, it was a bit busy. It was great because it offered adorable notebooks and stickers. It had a wide variety of collectibles and other merchandise. I would visit again.

The staff there is always friendly and makes the space feel inviting and warm! Jackie helped me out on my most recent trip and they were incredibly helpful! I always look forward to my next visit, even if it's just to browse.

There is new employee name Jonh. He is rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. He doesn’t know how to treat costumers with respect and dignity. He is running costumers away. He doesn’t deserve to work in this place.

This store is the best toy store in South Bay. Every worker is really informed and they have great customer service

Great game store. They have everything you can think of game related and quite a few things you couldn't even imagine.

Boyfriend went and asked for Jumpstart packs and accidentally purchased the Jumpstart Set Boosters. Was trying to purchase Jumpstart 2022 as a gift.

Tried to have the items exchanged a few days later and was told no. No returns and no exchanges even with receipt. Absolutely disappointing seeing as the sales floor person presented the wrong packs.

Spencer was amazing. He helped my 8 years old find all the stuff he liked. I cannot say enough great things about him! And Jackie was so enthusiastic when we first came in and helped us as well. Definitely coming back because of the service!

I like this store. I'm not a game person but I appreciate that not only are they a retailer and selling things but they organize and have a place for people to play in games. I also have had a few really good workers help me find the game I was looking for my son. Once I was looking for Dragowood. It's a card based game that also uses dice. I really like that the games can be played with 2 people and they average about 15-20 minutes so you can get a game in even on a school night.

You have to take your time to look around to find something you like or want. The store is big so they have a lot to see.

Would recommend for games, but their trading card products are overpriced to an unreasonable degree.
