Gorgeous hotel, really nice staff, excellent food at their in house restaurant. If you can, ask to be roomed away from the highway. We stayed in two different rooms in two different stays. In one we could barely hear the highway, in another it kept us from sleeping soundly.
The pool is lovely - try the strawberry fields cocktail and the adobo fries!

This hotel is fabulous. It is peaceful and relaxing with softly lit trees surrounding the property, which provides a nature feel right in the heart of Hollywood/L. A. The decor is bohemian luxe with pops of color throughout. Front desk and all staff are super helpful, friendly, and accommodating 24/7. All areas of the hotel and our room were clean/spotless and the gated parking ensured extra safety. We enjoyed delicious food from the Front Yard restaurant and room service. We also purchased a few special mementos of our trip from "The Store" gift shop, including a hand-drawn portrait of the Hollywood bowl. The hotel is conveniently located near walkable eateries/shops/pharmacies and a few minute drive from popular venues such as the Hollywood Bowl. We didn't use the trolley but there is one provided by the hotel for local transportation from the lobby. Highly recommend this special hotel!

I absolutely love the ambiance of this place they create a great atmosphere however the customer service is gone downhill bad. I love milk and I love cereal for breakfast and it's hard to find sometimes so I bring my own. The refrigerator was not cold enough to keep my milk good till morning and when I mentioned this upon check out when I asked for a glass of milk was to walk 7 to 10 minutes to the grocery store. Mind you they have a bar and a restaurant and a gift store! All three attended by kids who obviously have no clue about customer service skills yet

The rooms are basic but very nice. The hotel itself is great, nice pool and it's home to the frontyard, a restaurant with some delicious food and great drinks.

From the friendly check in all the way through to the effortless check out, everything was amazing. Nice, clean rooms with all the comforts of home (including a nice foam pillow upon my request). The free trolley ride from Alex to Universal was a fun little addition. I also had dinner at The Front Yard. It was amazing and the martini was top notch! Looking for a great hotel with fun vibe, The Garland is it! Looking forward to my next trip.

Nice hotel stay, should come with a two cat parking pass just like two keys but more had to pay 25$ extra for another parking pass

I was expecting so much more for what I spent. On our second, night we got in at about 1: 30am and we found our sliding patio door wide open and broken off it's hinges. Luckily we were on the 4th floor so nothing had been stolen but the door had probably been open all day and also who opened it, broke it and didn't fix it? When the handyman came he made it seem like we had broken the door and very condescendingly was "teaching" us how to use the door properly, it was not appreciated. The Second thing that I thought would be better at this hotel was our hotel room door, it didn't lock properly and the security lock on at the top of the door looked like someone had bent it off the hinges so we ended up putting the luggage stand against the door every night for extra security. The third thing that was odd, was the bed sheets that the cleaning staff put on my bed never fit properly. Come to find out they weren't using a fitted sheet on the bed, it was a top sheet that didn't even cover the bottom of the mattress, so I basically slept with my knees scrunched up the whole time. The fourth thing that happened was at check out. This Hotel charges paying guests full price per day to park $29 plus 10% fee. I was really shocked, I had never stayed at a hotel that charged paying guests to park. They validate people who come to the restaurant but paying guests don't get complimentary parking, hmmmm? I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk and she said it was because of the scarcity of parking in the area, yet they have a huge lot that was never full, so parking was not scarce in their lot. When I mentioned that they validate the restaurant goers she looked at me and said "oh do you live in the area? " I replied, "yes, I lived here for 7 years and frequented the Front Yard many times. " She replied, "Well I've worked here for 16 and it's always been that way. " So apparently it became a game of one-up, which I didn't appreciate. All in all, I was very disappointed in my stay and wont be returning when I visit again.

Good atmosphere. Room accomodation fair!
Bedding left a lot to be desired for a comfortable sleep. Shower drainage was atrocious, for $300+
room; poor designed. Water flow in sink SLOW!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Garland Hotel this past weekend for our 2 year anniversary from the 22nd - 25th of October. We checked in late on Friday night and checked out on Monday. Overall the hotel was very convenient to Universal Studios which was 5 minutes away in car and about 30 minutes walking distance and a lot of shopping centers for groceries, coffee (Starbucks), etc. The room was very clean upon arrival and they also had a bottle of mini champagne for us with chocolate to celebrate which was a nice gesture from them as well as a celebratory card. We stayed in room 508 in the El Dorado building which was facing the freeway and was noisy during our stay. The bed in our room was SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE. It literally felt like we were sleeping on a slab of concrete which hurt our backs the next day. Luckily we drove there and had brought our own pillows and blanket which helped a little bit to be more comfier. The shower had only 1 glass pane covering half and then had a side wide open and would get water all over the floor if you didn't use the towel they provided (I've never seen a shower with this type of ingenuity). The water would be luke warm at best and wouldn't even get hot. The parking for this place is outrageous! You are charged 29.00 for a day to park in their parking lot, then on top of that they hit you with a 2.90 PARKING TAX FEE. It costed us $95 just for 3 NIGHTS! If I would of known parking wasn't free when booking this place, I would have went with some place else. The breakfast wasn't even great either, I was charged 47 dollars for 2 cups of coffee, a croissant sandwich, and a container of yogurt with oats and fruit. DO NOT get me started on the mediocre restaurant downstairs from the hotel. They take advantage of the hotel guests and will charge an arm and a leg with their food. We ordered an octopus plater that was an appetizer for 18 dollars which contained only 3 SMALL PIECES of octopus and some potatoes. I ordered the 48 dollar 8 oz.filet mignon and was shocked to see what I had. They attempted to make my plate look larger by adding the meat on 3 small potatoes which was a disgrace. I personally do not think it was worth the price I payed to stay at this hotel when there were other options cheaper. We went with this place because of how close it was to Universal Studios. Overall it may be a nice place to stay with family and kids due to the pool and table top activities they have but, expect to pay a lot during your stay.
+Pros: Close to Universal Studios, shopping center, very clean room
-Cons: Parking fee's, restaurant expensive, mediocre food, too noisy if facing freeway, hotel fee's, uncomfortable bed (least for us), luke warm showers, weird shower design

I spent many days at the Garland and I felt home even though I was away from my home. The team is amazing and I would like to highlight few of the team members: Rose, Jackie, Angel, Michael, Bruce, Justice, Mynor and many more whom I forgot their names but not their amazing work ethic and hospitality. I encourage everyone who is visiting LA to stay at the Garland as it is the best place to be.

Very charming hotel, great pricing, and efficient service! Something could be done about the parking charges - they are exorbitant.

Liked the ambience and the stay! Very cordial staff. The hotel has shuttle service that would take you to the Universal Studios. Plus, they serve you excellent quality food as well. Had a pleasant stay without any worries.

The check in employee was extremely rude and ill-mannered. I didn’t hear what he said and he responded with “I just said that”
I won’t be coming back with that customer service experience. Also it’s $30/night for parking, and I wish I knew before I booked.

A lovely place to stay. With a pool and a nice restaurant, plus a shuttle to take guests to Universal Studios, it's the perfect place to stay in Hollywood

I am so thankful to all staff members for their empathy and intelligence. We ordered the food and waited for till it comes. Suddenly my blood pressure got high. (I have that problem). I felt how they exposed their professional approach to me' by taking care of my place, where I was set, giving me the wet clots to use on my neck and finally, called 911. YOU ARE THE BEST MY FRIENDS, GOD BLESS YOU,
