The Getty Villa reviews
19Beautiful villa with a ton of history. There are small exhibits within the villa as well and a garden that is a must see!
The Getty Villa is a recreated ancient house with a incredible collection of Greek and Roman artifacts. This modern building pulls you back in time to get a feeling of life thousands of years ago.
A place to visit in LA. AC. You only have to pay for parking and schedule an hour to visit. Near the coast of Santa Monica.
Beautiful museum, the collection but certainly also the building itself. Clean, uncluttered and friendly employees.
The Getty Villa is AMAZING! They say the best things in life are free, just not parking lol. I’ll pay $20 parking any day for free museums like The Getty Villa. I could stay for hours and just hang in the gardens. Have fun!
Good place to take out of town elderly visitors. Enjoy the museum display or explore the three gardens. We did do the free reservation a day ahead.
Tickets are checked at the entrance to the car. Please make a reservation in advance.
Iced latte is just ice water. Minute Maid orange juice is much tastier.
Special night event. This was my first time at the Getty Villa during the evening on a Friday night. We got tickets to the performance called The Gospel at Colonus. It was about the story of Oedipus that blended Greek myth with Gospel. It was an interesting piece. Great singing. It was a musical. 80 minutes. So, don't drink too much liquids since there is no intermission. The ticket was $50 on a Friday night. Parking was $10. No cash, only cards accepted. They had the café open ans served drinks. Great experience.
Gorgeous venue with these crazy seat cushions that support your back. I didn't go in, but there is a cafe there and a snack bar. There literally isn't a bad seat in the house, or I should say out of the house as this is an outdoor venue with the perfect acoustics. The actors weren't wired up, but you could hear them absolutely fine.
Hold on that's my house, that's why I got kicked out just for it to turn into a museum bruh
I always will wonder why people trade their heritage for anoey.getty had tons of it and it is displayed at this museum. Clean, well lit and thought out displays. Nice atmsophere. Not rushed at all and the gardens were really cool. A must see.
Quite nice place to visit, and it's free. If you come by car either you pay 20$ to park inside or you need to park outside the neighborhood, there is a parking place close to the entrance (2h max, but when we were there none of the machines were working) and they will pick you up with a taxi for free.
Must-visit place in LA. A lot of wow mements during my visit. Not easy to access by public transit, but worth of spending time there. Beautiful house and garden with a full of amazing artworks. How can I not pay for this phenomenal place? I envy the LA locals.
Beautiful place, well worth the visit. The museum is free and parking costs 20 dollars with payment by card only.
The Getty is a great historical place to visit. There is food, great plants, great views. If you are going there then go!
With a free timed pass, obtained on-line, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in the thoughtfully curated collection of antiquities artfully displayed in a Roman Villa. The tour from the Getty app provided information about a number of works and the grounds. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch on the patio that overlooks the Villa with views to the Pacific Ocean.
Quiet atmosphere and friendly staff. Admission is free, but there is a parking fee. You must make a reservation in advance.
Some awesome historic facts! Did you know Hercules had a black friend? Also some really good photo opportunities and cool artifacts. Everyone here is kind and helpful, (besides the middle schoolers that come for field trips). 95% of people will be willing to take a photo of you if you bring your partner and wanted to get a cute couples pic. Would be an ideal place for a photo shoot (if allowed of course).
