The Grand Lake Veterinary Hospital, Oakland CA

Grand Lake is the most caring and knowledgeable vet I have taken my cat (Ramona) to. When I took her in for an exam when she was having urinary issues, they explained to me the potential causes of her symptoms, the tests that would help us understand more, and the next steps. In past vet experiences I have felt pressured into paying for certain tests without understanding the value,
that is never the case at Grand Lake. I always understand what I am paying for, how it will help in treating Mona, and what comes next. They also share additional insights beyond just a diagnosis, for example explaining common issues that can crop up in older cats, specially Maine Coons. Every visit I have I leave with more understanding of how to care for Mo as she ages and with even more confidence that this clinic is the place for us.

We bring our dog here for care. The Vet is close to our home, and the staff is still friendly and professional after almost 5 years.

They will tell you like it is, in regards to things you should do to keep your pet healthy.

They take care of our Pitbull, who is our first "child. "

They give him annual shots so he is healthy and can run and play with our actual child.

The latest visit we were given consultation on his skin issues.

Now he has been itching less and resting more.

They are super busy, so call now.

This is hands down. The best vet clinic in the Bay area
That includes San Francisco Marin and the East Bay
I say this because every single employee has been exceptional starting with the front desk. The vet tecs our friendly and genuinely love the animals. The doctors take the time with you. They are super smart and good communicators + genuinely care for the animals.
I have had animals all my life and work in rescue. I've taken many animals to various vet clinics in the bay area with animals that were not my own.
I've gotten to know many veterinarians, most of which have been very good doctors and so many vet offices.
However, I've never gone to a vet office where every single thing is handled responsibly friendly professional. I have been going here for about 8 years. Even though I moved to Marin, I still keep them as my main veterinary clinic.

We love Grand Lake Vet Hospital! They’ve taken great care of our two kitties and have did so with a smile. We’ve moved around the country a bit and have had a number of different vets. I’m so happy that we found this place and that they’ve been available and willing to see our kitties! I really can’t say enough positive things about them- the front desk girls are friendly and helpful as well. If you have a choice, definitely choose these guys

I'm VERY picky when it comes to Vets. These guys are amazing, they care for your animals, and use common sense solutions to problems. I have called them in emergencies and for check ups they are always helpful and nice. Most recently my 15 year old cat had a tooth abscess. She had her surgery 4 days later they made time for her necessary surgery. That's not the best part though, during her surgery they gave a complimentary nail trim as well as called me to send off some of her infected tissue of to a lab to biopsy it, they didn't trust the way it looked. They don't overcomplicate the care they give. They look at the facts and assess the most sane choice of action. They are expensive (as most animal care is) and their wait list is long, but it's worth it.

This is the second vet's office my dog has been to, and we have a very strong feeling it's going to be her last!

Dr. C and all the vet techs who helped us out for our visit were simply amazing. They were kind and answered all our questions with patience and were very knowledgeable. The pre-registration and check-in processes were hassle-free and well organized. The office is easily accessible and is clean and calming with lots of room for any furry friend to feel comfortable. Cannot recommend this office enough!

Grand Lake continues to be a wonderful resource for my dog and cat. They are healthy so usually it's only 1-2 times for each, but every thing about the process is top notch. From making the appt, to reminders, to day of, everybody who works there is as professional and courteous as I would ever want. Other then parking being a little challenging if you go on a Saturday, I doubt you will find a better vet in the area.

They were all very sweet and gentle with my cat. Thorough with information and gave helpful advice. I didn't feel rushed or pressured. Thanks GLV team!

Grand Lake Vet has always provided exceptional services for our canine daughter, our cocker spaniel, Nimmy. They have known and taken care of Nimmy for almost 8 years and have always provided knowledgeable information, have been very professional, kind and, provide follow up services which is greatly appreciated. They have an outstanding team of veterinarians and vet techs. Dr. McDonald and Dr. Dunn have been especially helpful over the years.

We love GLV. They make a point to see us same day for pet emergencies. Their staff are incredibly kind, attentive, communicative and transparent with the treatments they recommend.

I love this place and am very happy with the services we received for my dog Bing. Last minute before Christmas, He had two abscessed teeth and an infection that looked very serious. He ended up needing quite a few extra extractions on top of that. The surgery process day of was communicative and reassuring, and long. Bing had been through what seemed to be years of mouth pain, but a few weeks into the long healing process post surgery, he was sitting on the couch and smiling for the first time in a long time. I couldn't be happier for his recovery though it was tough on us.financially, emotionally and physically. Glad that I could get the surgery done here, and I am so happy he is back to his normal self again.

This was a great visit. We have a large tough shepherd mix that normally won't stand for shots or blood draws, nor to be examined.they had me premedicate him with 3 meds, and it was perfect.got the muzzle on easily, and he was chill.the doctor and staff were great.they got the blood test, gave him his annual shots and oral vaccination, and the doc was even able to examine our beast. I am so grateful.also, the price for everything was quite fair, I feel.

This is without a doubt the best veterinary care our cats and related humans have ever experienced! Thank you Dr. McDonald and all of your staff! Sage was wonderful as well.

It's been a little over a week since I've started coming here and I'm so glad I made the switch. I feel supported, respected, and trust that my two cats are in good hands while they're here.

My annual visit for my cats went well. The doctor explained everything to me, including costs for needed and optional services. I will be returning.

Excellent and empathetic staff, nurses and doctors. Good communication. Large calm waiting area. Great COVID precautions. Always feel totally confident taking my old lady kitty here!
