The James Hollywood, Los Angeles CA

My travel schedule for work last year was intense. The one thing I never worried about was finding an apartment in LA. The James is meticulously maintained and the staff is wonderful. Lizette the assistant general manager personally insures my high level of comfort safety and well being. I work from home days I am not in studio or on location. I could not dream of a more perfect environment. The shared spaces are amazing. Over the past 2 years I have upgraded from the bachelor studio to a one bedroom. Looking forward to many more successful years in LA. I credit my overall happiness with my LA living situation as a huge part of my professional success in Los Angeles.

My stay at the James has been wonderful, located in a great area, close to all the fun tourist attractions. The staff was extremely accommodating and attentive, specially Lizzet at the front desk, you can tell she truly loves what she does and always has the best attitude and smile, thank you!

I toured the James hollywood… it is a beautiful building the rooms are stunning and VERY spaces! 10/10 recommend to book a stay here.

Lizzet (the Assistant General Manager) is absolutely fantastic. My life situation has been crazy, my move-in dates have changed so many times, we've exchanged so many emails.yet Lizzet has never showed an ounce of frustration with me or my forever-changing situation. No matter what tornado I have been in, she has always been flexible, kind, patient, helpful, understanding. Every time I walk in that building, she always gives me that smile and makes me feel like it's all going to be OK. SHE is the reason I like this building.

I must agree with the other 1-star reviews. Can we rate less than 1 star actually? This property is not in the condition that is advertised online and the management is terrible. Unfortunately, this building is owned by a giant investment property corporation that does not seem to care about the upkeep of the buildings or the experience of residents, but rather about making as much money as possible by scamming residents through overcharging and bullying tactics. It is really a shame that places like this exist.

Absolutely Terrible experience, a disgusting scam. Thoroughly confused why there are positive reviews? For my international people this is in no way a “hotel”, despite the name. It’s a hoStel at best. Firstly, I had to complete a *paid* security check, provide copies of my work contracts and bank statements all for a 30 day stay. This would fine, if every guest was required to do so, that would’ve been great- i asked another guest in the elevator if he had to do the same in terms of security checks bank statements etc and he said *no* and was shocked. Despite all this and constant communication with the receptionist before I arrived from overseas, (including a confirmation receipt of my booking), she didn’t seem to realize I was arriving, so when I did (after a 15+hr plus international flights) I had to wait in reception for over 45minutes. I saw her working at a grocery store on the weekend so maybe she had too much on her mind and forgot about my reservation. They required $1000USD (yep one thousand USD) deposit for my *30 day only* temporary stay. This is for a room in an old Decrepit building literally on top of a construction site. Room was freezing cold, soo uncomfortable, no sunlight at all and damp. Felt bugs biting. Absolutely *no privacy* whatsoever! Can hear several “neighbors” breathe, cough, burp, fart, pee on the toilet, telephone conversations, have never experienced that bad of thin walls. It was *REALLY* bad. Then suddenly everything is quiet when I tried to make a phone call lol. Now for when I realized this is all an elaborate scam: At the end of my stay they literally tried to charge me $75 USD out of my deposit for a “stained” hand towel…LOL. *Easily* would have come out with normal cheap bleach. We finally agreed on $50 for the tiny towel. So I got $950 deposit back after my 30day stay. They don’t tell you this but if you pay their required deposit, via check or any other way other then a credit card, they will only *post* your deposit back via cashiers check in the mail to a US address, which you also have to pay 100+$$ for and can take several weeks to receive.yes correct you’ll need to pay to get your deposit back which they will send to you in the post to your imaginary US only address LOL). Their washing machine make your clothes smell like feet and also broke down several times. Oh the Internet- I literally could not watch a YouTube video it was so weak. Unusuable Internet. So SO SO bad. I’m actually shocked and appalled at this place. Horrendous.

How does this place have good reviews? More of a dump. From the constant weed smell throughout the building and police being called from people fighting. This place is horrible. Not secured or safe anyone can access building. There security is a joke! He doesnt speak English.
