The Jerk Kitchen reviews
14Delicious! Talk about FLAVOR! If you are like me and get bored with food and love trying different cultural food, this place is a MUST! My daughter and I tried the brown stewed chicken, Mac&cheese and plantain, and my husband tried the curried goat, salad and plantain. EVERYTHING was delicious. Meat was fall off the bone tender and loaded with amazing flavor. Definitely going back to explore more of the menu!
Jason was amazing. The food was fantastic. The chicken fell off the bone, the salmon was perfectly cooked. The portions were huge! The sides were amazing, we devoured it all!
Wife and I had been craving Caribbean food since our honeymoon, and this place does not disappoint. Everything is packed full of flavor and every bite was an absolute delight. Quick, friendly service with an on point atmosphere. This may just be one of our favorite new places in town.
JASON! This food is amazing! We will be back very soon. Delicious, affordable, and ANYONE reading this needs to go get your next meal here. We got the curry chicken, the Mac & Cheese, jerk chicken, coconut rice, and rice& veggies. 5 stars, soooooo good.
Some of the best food I've eaten out in a long time. The service was exceptional and the prices are extremely fair. Will be coming back often.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and mine is this place is great! The food was fresh, flavorful and hot. The service was nice, charming and friendly. I’ve been here 5 times over the last year, different months, days and time. And each time it was the same, great food, nice service.
As a black man I will always go out of my way to support a black owned business. I LOVED the old management and menu. I understand change is a part of life and after hearing good reviews (and bad) I decided to try things out again.
There is no other way to say this. THIS WAS THE WORST MAC AND CHEESE I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE BY FAR. This was oily, cheeseless, mac with no flavor whatsoever.
The oxtail was tender and had subtle flavor, I expected a more pronounced one, but it was enjoyable.
The rice and peas were amazing
The hibiscus and ginger drinks were refreshing and bursting with flavor.
The plantains usually are good from what I hear, but these were dry and very overcooked. So many there is some inconsistency in the kitchen?
Overall whoever is making the mac and cheese needs to stop. TERRIBLE. Ruined the entire food experience, otherwise this would have been a nice little meal.
Update*****
Hands down STILL the best Island food within 50 miles. Generous portions, which is why you should get there as soon as you can before they sell out. Beautiful vibes from the blessed staff.
The Patty selection is crazy.
I bought almost one of everything last time and I still can't suggest which is my favorite. It's like picking a favorite child.
Worst Jamaican resturaunt I've ever been to! Coconut rice has no flavor, and fried plantains order was a few slices, total rip off in my opinion.
I was so excited to eat Jamaican food today 8-26-23 BUT I was highly disappointed. I tried to order the brown stewed tofu, lady said they were out of it and because I'm flexible I ordered the pineapple rice, not 1 sliver of pineapple in it, no pineapple taste, tasted like plain white rice, just blah. I also ordered a green salad, was never offered my choice of dressing out of 3 choices. Then as I'm eating my salad I get some raw jalapeño with seed in it. My sister ordered the plantains, super disappointment, I think she received 1/4 of a plantain for $5.00. I'll never be back and this place needs to learn quite a few things about running a restaurant period. SIPHOS JAMAICAN RESTAURANT IN CHICO, CA IS THE REAL DEAL. Owner of jerk kitchen should call him for advice. Also no good vibes, we came in smiling, happy and left bummed and looking for some good food.
10 stars for this place! U know its a good spot when u get to the door an can smell the jerk spices outsde the door an reggae jammin on the radio! My son loves Jamaican food! We were in town just for the night, ending our sons 16th bday 2 week trip to so cal in back to north bend oregon! The food was amazing! If u like Jamaican food an are any where near eureka california hit this place up! They put their foot in it! Much love to the owners!
So expensive! Such small portions, waited 2 hours for my food and it didn't even taste authentic. Wouldn't recommend.
We love this place! Everything is so delicious, and the owner is awesome. You can tell they put so much love into each dish. One of my favorite spots in Humboldt!
