We have been browsing and purchasing from this music store since our 25 year old son was in elementary school. We have always received great customer service, very honest in suggestions whatever we were interested in purchasing, Guitars, Amplifiers, Violins, Books, Strings…. The staff have never tried to upsell us, they listen to what we are shopping for and recommend accordingly.

The customer service was great, sax works like a dream, and price/paying back deal is great. My English is awful and it causes me troubles all the time due to my too sensitive nature. My bad, and the first message is deleted.

I just started taking guitar lessons with Robert Aragon at Aragon Music Lessons & Recording in Placerville and this store came highly recommended by him. And let me tell you—he was spot on!

As a late-thirties woman who is only now starting this journey, I feared I would feel very out of place. But all the nervous, "fish out of water" energy I walked in with disappeared the moment I was greeted by Nick, who was so lovely and helpful—I ended up having the BEST experience.

I was looking for an acoustic guitar that wasn't "bottom of the barrel" but obviously, as a beginner, not top of the line either. He was so nice and patient with me. He was very thorough in explaining my options and teaching me a lot about the guitars and what to consider and look for. He was truly amazing. Not only did I get a great guitar (my music teacher agrees), but I walked out with a ton of knowledge.

I also chatted a bit with Norm (hopefully, I got that right). He was also incredibly nice and helpful. I could have stayed there for hours listening to everything the two of them know and asking them a million questions. What an incredibly wonderful and inclusive environment! I just simply can't say enough how amazing my experience was.

I live up by Placerville and I will certainly be coming down the hill to The Nicholson Music Co.for all my music/guitar related needs.

I've purchased a total of 3 guitars from Nicholsons; one Eastman acoustic, one Squier Telecaster, and most recently a Martin Road Series acoustic-electric. Every time I've come in I've been treated incredibly well by the staff and they've always been very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had about the instruments.

I haven't been to this shop in years. Came in recently to look for a specific book. The staff was friendly. The layout of the place is a bit awkward. There is a back section with sheet music but it's not very apparent at first. Ask anyone at the desk if you need to find it. The sheet music selection is very small.

They had a good collection of guitars, bases, and other stringed instruments. I didn't see much in the way of brass or woodwinds. Its in a small shopping complex and parking was okay.

*Allegedly, and in my opinion only*

The staff is cool, and so is the person giving violin lessons. However, the owner is rude to paying customers and even to children.

The owner says you can try out guitars, but really, he will micromanage and demand you buy it if he decides you've "used his strings too much. " Why even bother letting people try out guitars if you're going to make people take off jewelry and anything that could scratch the guitar, and then still find a way to act like they are an inconvenience for playing a guitar when you said they could play? Very bad ownership.

Don't spend money here, especially on your kids. My kid was given permission to try out a guitar by the staff, and then the owner literally ripped the guitar from my kid's hands, scolded him for using up too much string, demanded he pay for the guitar, and then kicked us out while our other kid was in a PAID violin lesson. Would give 0 stars, never coming back. By the way, we've spent enough money at your store previously to pay for that guitar, let alone the fact that we could've paid for it. Way to lose money for yourself And next time you want to disrespect someone's kid, don't. Sorry you can't afford to replace $3 wholesale strings on guitars after customers try them out. Maybe just don't let people try the guitars since you seemingly can't mentally handle that. And before you try to lie, we were not disrespectful or damaging your property in ANY way. My kid is very respectful. We actually thought you were joking until you kicked us out. Praying for you.

Just picked up a new Telecaster from here. Awesome customer service and selection. The salesman who helped me was very helpful and they set it up for me while I waited. Will definitely be back.

They donated a guitar to local foster children without a second thought. I didn't have to ask twice. Very kind and generous people there.

Obviously caring with precise luthier work and excellent customer service. It’s no wonder they’ve stayed in business since ‘85.

Great store, good people except for Andy. I brought in a Peavey for some parts and the guy was offended. "I`m a certified Fender tech" Get over yourself guy.

I bought my first guitar there in 1986 and have had lessons from several of their teachers, all outstanding in their own way. By far the best music store experience you can get in my opinion. I’ve had several guitars worked on and their workmanship is excellent.
