The Original Hick'ry Pit, Walnut Creek CA

Gone down in service and food. Not even close to what it was! I have eaten over the years at Walnut Creek, Concord, Fremont and Hayward.
Most of those were closed a long time ago.

We had the ultimate sandwich which was very good. We tried the st Louis ribs, chicken, and tri tip. The texture was good, very tender, the flavor was a little lacking. The fries were so-so.

Portions are LARGE. Not your normal sides either. Like 3x the size of a normal side. All food was great!

The new changes and construction looks outstanding! Ownership is doing a great job uplifting the place!

Not sure how a place called the Hickory Pit can be out of pulled pork and have no other bbq substitutions- pulled beef, chicken. Was very excited to try and make this a new go-to spot, and disappointed. Will not be returning.

I can't say enough good things about Hick'ry Pit! This place deserves every one of its five stars!

A lot less items on the menu, that's OK but the prices have hit the ceiling. $7.00 for a large Orange juice, wow
Food is served on a metal tray, like in a jail, not attractive at all.
Some kind of a pickled condiment accompanies the meal, bring back the dill pickle half, we love it!

The new fabric on the booth seats doesn't allow a person to slide in or out, you have to work your way in, not good.

It now has so many TV's, it feels like a sports bar, oh yeah, they have a full bar and so much, one whole page of the menu is Booze.

This is NOT our old favorite BarBQue place anymore. So sad.

The breakfast options are diverse and delicious. The American BBQ is flavorful, and the homemade pies are like a slice of heaven. The craft beer and cocktail selection is impressive considering how new it is, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Deena was awesome!

If you're searching for non-pretentious BBQ, look no further. The tender meats are to die for. The sides are good as well. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, making the whole experience even better. You won't be disappointed!

I’ve been coming here for 60 years. The place needs to be refreshed. The floors are hideous and dirty looking. My feet hurt from walking on them. The overall ambiance has been depleted substantially.
