The Original Red Onion reviews
18We had a table for five adults and two very active kids! The server was very patient with all our requests and adjustments. The food was delicious and the ambience in the restaurant was great! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Mexican food.
Red Onion is a local favorite. It is a Mexican eatery with a cozy rustic atmosphere. Their margaritas are legendary.
I've had family dinners, pandemic takeout, and company lunches at Red Onion. Everyone finds something good to eat from their menu. My husband recommends their chicken enchiladas. Service is excellent - not only polite, but also kind. I have had one accident of a raw steak that was on me because I didn't specify my preference of medium cooked.
There is free ample parking.
Very nostalgic and definitely a low key restaurant. Service and Food was decent. I have nothing bad to say, but it did not make me want come back anytime soon.
A very good Mexican food restaurant. Good chips and salsa. I had chicken enchiladas and the rest of the group had variations of the same. All was good. The service was great and friendly. Will go definitely go back.
This place is a must-go in Palos Verdes. The food is amazing and so is the atmosphere. Everything about this place is amazing.
This place is near and dear to my heart. I grew up going here! The food is remarkable. The service is amazing. A really family feel. Would recommend to anyone.
I've been dining here for over 40 years! Even though I moved out of the south bay, when I come to visit friends or relatives I always make it to the Original Red Onion!?
I love Mexican food and this definitely met my expectations. But, the reason that I am giving it 4 stars is because they forget one of the dishes and brought it out late.
Yum that was a wonderful experience. Had the Red Onion salad and sweet corn tamale, both incredible. My husband had a combo plate and also was happy. We'll definitely be back! The wait staff were really pleasant and we didn't wait long for anything.
We used to receive good food and service from the Red Onion. Not anymore, the day we went for lunch, we had to ask for menus and then waited 25 minutes for our order to be taken. When we asked about our order being taken, the server was rude and mouthed off to us. Finally, we had to ask for the manager. Typical of poor service everywhere you go today.
Food is good. Salsa is great! Service is horribly slow. If you have all the time in the world, I recommend. If you're on lunch break or have some where else to go after.then go somewhere else.
Went without reservations, the wait wasn't long. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. The cocktails aren't bad either. Worth every cent!
I've been a customer since the 1960s. The service and food is always good and consistent. We've had many family gatherings here. Highly recommend!
Chicken Caesar Salad tasted like it had been made the day before. Lettuce was wilted, croutons mushy and the salad wasn’t even chilled. Chicken was extra dry. Will not order again. The wet barrito, enchiladas an Chile relleno we’re very tasty and we’re the saving grace of the meal.
This place was referred to as by a native who had been living there since the '50s. Outstanding Mexican food, and even better service! I highly recommend it.
The interior is nicely decorated. You feel like you've walked into another land when you're inside! The service was great, food was delicious with big portions, and the staff was personable. I would definitely like to come back to visit.
Excellent food, excellent service, wonderful experience. Definitely will return. 5his place is VERY popular. Go in non rush hour times or get a reservation
The food is excellent BUT that is about it! The staff has no customer service skills. When you enter the Host & Hostess look annoyed to see you. The young woman and the young man that host the entrance look at you as if you are not worthy to be in their presence. I've received friendlier service at street taco stand. The waiter was no better. I asked a question about what kind of fish a dish was composed of and his response was "some kind of fish. " Had I not been with an elderly friend I would certainly told the manager of how inhospitable this place is but I did not want to stress my elderly friend. I'll never eat there again. They can keep their whatever "some kind of fish" to themselves.
