The Rice House reviews
16Love the rice, really big portions for the meat too. A lot of the 1 star reviews are from before they changed owners so don't believe them they're old.
Self-service service, the clay pot rice tastes very good. It would be better if there were more green vegetables.
No service at all, staffs are not welcoming at all. Waitress was coughing frequently without a mask on, basically she’s coughing all over the food. Some of the dishes are straight up reheated from the microwave. The whole place is very greasy, the menu is very greasy too.
Always ordering dinner pick up from this place. Absolutely, it is good taste and reasonable price.
The rice clay pot was on par - would recommend; however the steamed chicken was kinda disappointing. The chicken itself seems over cooked, and the ginger scallion sauce didn’t have much flavor either. As many have already mentioned, you are essentially eating out of takeout boxes, which isn’t a great dining experience.
Their pot rice is good! With a little bit of "burned" crispy rice at the edge just like the claypot rice.
Came here for lunch. Place is a hybrid restaurant/cafeteria style. You order at the register (cash only). Their Clay Pot Style rice is unique in which they cook it in a clay pot, but bring it out to you in a disposable to-go container. In fact, all their food are served in to-go containers. Their Clay Pot rice had plenty of meat. What's cool is even though it's in a to go container, there's burnt rice on the bottom. The vegetables in the Clay Pot was a disappointment as there were only two pieces of broccoli. I recommend ordering another side order of vegetables. You can skip their apps because their portion size can be deceiving as the container looks small but in fact it's pretty big. If your a soup addict, go for their chicken soup (served in a to go container).
Ordered online for lunch but not able to pick up on time (my fault). They allow me to pick up at dinner time and actually re-prepare my food fresh hot and new. Very friendly staff with good food.
This place ask tips during ordering but running its restaurant like eating in the food court.
Everything is DIY by the customer but it charges like a restaurant.
It serves everything with disposal bowls and this really upsets my dining experience.
It is March 2023 already and this place reminds me the time at the middle of pandemic!
The taste was so so~
Update: After changing their take out box, entree portion become much less, not satisfied.
Org: Soup is average taste and looks nothing like the picture on deliver platform, barely any dry content in it. The clay pot rice is average at best, for roast duck, it's kind of below average, Ranch 99 has better ones.
Claypot rice with preserved meat is tasty with a good crunch on the rice, and the snow fungus dessert soup is a must try.
Rice is good but the sides are just too greasy and salty. Service needs to be improved. Made a phone order and the place got my order wrong and even disputed it. Waited for 25 mins for one extra side of rice. Not likely to return.
Yummy claypot rice at a reasonable price. Wait could be a while since looks like they prepare it from scratch. They are couple options of toppings.
I order quite frequently, and today is the first that I’ve gotten an order of the duck clay pot and got more bones than duck. For some reason today all I got were the neck, ribs and a part of thigh.
Please pay more attention to portion for consistency, thanks.
I think this restaurant is OK as a cheap fast food. My company comes here often. The boss lady is really stinky, if you don't speak Cantonese. But the price is really good, it’s delicious and healthy. If you want to eat vegetables, you can order the chicken soup kimchi heart. It’s only $9. It’s really very conscience. Where can you find it? Their soups are only $5. I don’t know why I should pick three or four people with bad reviews. For good and expensive food, go to Lei Yue Mun upstairs.
