The Ritz-Carlton SF lives up to its expectations, from the moment you pull up to when you depart. Room service was amazing with the selection and gluten free options, location was great we could walk everywhere and felt totally safe. It was really kid friendly with the chess and Jenga available in the courtyard, my son loved the fortune cookie jar at reception and everyone was really helpful and accomodating.

Exceptional service. Everyone from the front desk staff, doormen to housekeeping, were friendly and helpful. Rooms were well appointed. We had turndown service nightly. There was no in-room safe. Short walking distance to Uniom Square, Chinatown, and many other attractions. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful architecture. Decor reminds be of all those beautiful movies in San Fransisco. Wonderful art and floral arrangements throughout the hotel. I love the old architecture combined with the more modern and art deco furniture and updated carpets. Congrats to their decorator

The rooms were the right size for us and larger than many I have been in. The beds were great as well.

Staff is always friendly and looking for a way to make your visit more special.
The concierge was excellent at advising restaurants and shopping when requested. They directed me to a custom jeweller to help me buy a milestone piece. Luis made sure I had my tea perfect every morning and always asked how my daily excursions were Leo advised me to walk the Golden gate bridge at the right time to minimize the wind and told us to dress warm. He helped plan our days to maximize our comfort.

This is a smaller hotel than some larger high volume hotels (8 very large floors) that have huge lobbies but it has added to the charm. Many of the staff would ask and remember our names. A very personal touch that is appreciated.

The main floor restaurant unique menu but still had some regulars. My son loved the burger and pasta. I would recommend the mussels in coconut milk which I had twice.

The location was great. It’s on a hill and I felt quite accomplished climbing up the hill. Very quiet in the evening with minimal noise even though during our visit President Biden was staying in a hotel around the corner.

The fortune cookies in the reception area were a great touch

Thankyou to the staff and management

Dan the lounge manager is the true definition of first class service. I'm in AZ and couldn't be at my best friends mother's Birthday dinner, I called to pay for a desert and he hunted them down in a busy restaurant and surprised them with their fresh macaroons and made not only her night but mine as well. It's the little things that make a difference and he is definitely a stand out manager! Thanks Dan for everything! He deserves a raise Ritz!

This place is pure class. They have the front of the building lit up in Southern Bell Blue which I’m not a fan of the symbolic nature of it but it sure does look badass. Above the entrance there is a large gradual sloping zenith that has 7 huge sculptures inside of a wide acute triangle. And inside this frame are some horrible scenes. On the far left is a women holding an infant with the man right behind her but he being pulled away by another young man as if to say forget about the family life. In the middle of the piece is a king looking figure holding a crystal ball in the air. The place is a horrific example of how low humans can sink. I’m not sure how these people live with themselves when this hotel is in Sf and they see how poor some are

Ambassador review from November 2022 (sorry, just found my notes!). The Ritz Carlton is a gorgeous property located at the top of a hill in a quiet, mostly residential area - though it's close to all the regular hotspots, like Union Square, Chinatown, etc. A lovely holiday event was also taking place during my stay, which was AMAZING.

However, the staff here are what set the property apart from others! Specifically, Patrick, Jose, and Evan at the front of the house made my stay exceptional. Thank you all for the wonderful stay and I hope to return eventually!

The best hotel in San Francisco. Rooms are huge. Service is excellent. Fun Bar in the lobby and delicious food.

I went to the bar and the drink was good quality but nothing special. It was more expensive than expected and the service was a bit slow. Come here for the people watching.

The bell man did not have very good customer service and kept giving misinformation. The rooms were ok. The food is ok. So, overall, meh.

Despite the Ritz Carlton's reputation, I was let down by their service at this specific location. After being unfairly charged a cancellation fee and receiving little support in resolving the issue, my expectations were not met. This location falls short of the brand's standards. Be cautious when planning your stay.

Theresa at front desk is very nice and helpful and a delight to talk to. The rooms do need some update though, but it’s not uncommon for old hotels like this.

The only place I stay in San Francisco with the best location - highly recommend the Club Level for the best overall experience. Look forward to returning with my family next time!

The customer service you will receive at this Ritz Carlton is unmatched. From start to finish we were taken care of in every aspect and every staff member was so gracious and helpful. The Ritz Carlton is my favorite brand but this hotel specifically blew me away especially after everything they did for my birthday. Every time I mentioned my birthday I was gifted a cake or a bottle of wine. We did order a birthday cake as well and they topped it off with a free bottle of Prosecco and even macarons and chocolates. Hailey at the front desk is absolutely wonderful and so kind. She was very patient with us for our complicated check in. If you’re staying in San Francisco and also like to shop I would definitely stay here as Union square is just right up the street.

The service was hands down the best I've ever had. The staff made our stay the most pleasant they possibly could have going above and beyond for my family complete with decorating the room for my son's birthday. Absolutely amazing, highly recommended and we will absolutely be returning.

I’m originally from San Francisco i didn’t have a lot of experience staying in SF hotels. I moved to Washington DC three years ago and since then I’ve been coming back and staying in hotels. This is the first time I’ve stayed at the Ritz. I will never stay any place else here. There simply is not a better Hotel in San Francisco.
