The Royal Egg Cafe reviews
17 Cashier: "That'll be $26.03. "
Me: "Really? The menu says $20.50. "
Cashier: "There's a mandatory 15% surcharge on every order. "
Hey Royal Egg Cafe owner - are you open to a few suggestions to improve the dining experience?
First, be honest. Tip-creep. Tip-flation. Call it what you want, but please publish the actual cost of your food on your menu. Customers (including this one) will reward you for it.
Second, if you want customers to pay a mandatory tip for counter service, then at least instruct your team to bring us water and utensils, instead of making us get them ourselves from the little cart up front.
Lastly, offer complimentary refills on all beverages, and instruct a server to routinely top off customer's drinks, without us having to get up from the table.
My two cents.
I went to order a breakfast sandwich for $17.95. It looked good. It also comes with a kale salad which I’m not a fan of kale. They said “you can have potatoes for an extra $1 which is ok, or a fruit salad for an extra $5. ” Then I was ready to pay for a take out order. It was $25. I said “wait how much is the tax”. I noticed it was about $5. I’m like how much is the tax she said it’s an extra 15% service fee added. I don’t mind leaving a tip but to be charged 9% then another 15% on top of that & having a 24% tax on a to go egg sandwich is absurd! I said I don’t want to pay that much extra tax, plus I only had a certain amount of cash. I would have liked to give the small independent restaurant the business, but that fee forced me to go next store to Jersey Mikes for a sandwich with a lot of meat for $12.1/2 the cost.
Amazing food, great vibe, super service. Management fixed the door! As promised, 5 stars… boom! Best place ever!
Food taste fresh, friendly service. Just a perfect breakfast for New Year’s Day!
Go Blue!
Michigan fan visiting the area for the Rose Bowl. Stopped here for breakfast, don’t let the 4.1 ️ fool you. This place slaps! The breakfast burrito was AMAZING! It was so fresh and looked great. If I am ever back in the area, this is my new breakfast spot.
Staff were friendly and the food came out fast. Very chill vibe. Love this place!

First, it's 50degrees outside and they have the air blasting. My guest and I had to sit in our car to eat. Second, they charge an extra 15 percent to help pay their salary "WHAT"! No you work for your salary and I will give you a tip based on your service! Third, my simple order was missed up and they started arguing in the kitchen about fixingit! Too sad! Lastly, the jalapeño biscuits are delicious the egg whites not so good! That's all I got and they screwed it up! So service was less than average and I paid 15 percent just because! Unbelievable!
Very rare for me to want to give a full 5 star review! I had to visit twice on two separate days just to verify if what I had the first day was right!
The benny (Benedict) was amazing! Put some avocados and order a fresh orange juice and wow! The salad that comes with it is so good! Refreshing to a sense that, again, I had to come twice to check!
If you don’t believe me then you and I are definitely enjoying life differently lol
Again we are falling victim of the usual psychology of post Covid era. Use words like “vegan” “organic” “wholesome” “locally sourced” “recycled” and “plant based” and people flock to the place and start writing 5 star reviews since it’s locally sourced vegan and organic it must be good right? The sad truth is that it’s outrageously expensive mediocre food which in some ways was inedible (hollandaise sauce was so tart I had to scrape the egg off and with the sauce and constantly swish my mouth with the latte) crab cakes were mediocre tasting. At the end this review is simply written not due to the fact the food is super mediocre but to the fact you are able to charge an exuberant amount of money for mediocre food. You are also charging 15% gratuity (which is totally ok) but it’s classified under “tax” on the receipt. It’s a basic known fact service charge is not taxable and it’s not classified as tax. I do this for a living I know for a fact.
The absolute most delicious and diverse spot that has become our go-to. Their Country Breakfast Sandwich and Patriot are our favorite items on their menu, but each time we order anything different we are never disappointed. We always order pickup and I am more than happy to pay their prices. The quality of the food and the hustle and bustle their staff go through daily to bring it to you is amazing. I cannot imagine working at places like this where they get extremely busy and have to deal with the customer is always right nonsense mentality of dine in and takeout guests in the area.
Small and cute cafe. Awesome, awesome
Food! Loved the pancakes. Highly recommend if you are looking for yummy breakfast.
Absolutely disappointed in the dining experience. There was a hair in my sister’s food and we paid $50 for a burrito and eggs. One of waiters also tried to touch our service animal without asking which was extremely disrespectful. Get the act together.
Terrible experience here. Employees are rude and unaccountable. I got a salad with kale and the kale was yellow with black spots all over it. Will never come back as long as I live.
8/4/23. The food is still amazing. I tried the Bourbon Maple Latte. Don't hate it, but don't love it. It is sweet. It comes in either whole milk or non dairy. All price will include 15% service charges. However, I was surprised to see a tip cup at the cash register as well. If you would prefer to give more than 15% because the service is awesome, why not.
Amazing and fresh foods. Reasonable price. If we live closer, I would be here every day! I normally get the Keto bowl, a must have
Absolutely delicious! I’d highly recommend “The Patriot” breakfast - eggs were cooked perfectly & thick bacon. My wife’s lemon ricotta pancakes were perfect as well
It was the first time I went to this place, very diverse menu and great food! It had a very clean and tidy environment, and a very kind and polite girl her name is Jayme helped to us, and I can say that should definitely recommend Royal Egg
Very expensive for a breakfast. I ordered the basic two eggs, toast, potatoes and sausage. This was $27 dollars! They charge a 15% fee automatically to your bill. Had I noticed that prior I might have left. The food was fine and the staff was friendly. Does have some unusual things to try for someone looking for a different twist on breakfast.
Hands down the worst biscuits and gravy I’ve had in my life.hockey puck biscuits and watered down gravy.
My gf got French toast that looked really good, so at least we got one halfway decent meal for $56.30 (with waters).
I consider myself a small foodie and I’d say 0/10 would not recommend.
