The Shack Bar & Grill reviews
19Just seen them hand out the same exact order I ordered to 2 different tables that got here AFTER we did and ordered after we did
First time going there it's nice to hang out if you are in town visiting and want a drink or 2.
Great place to hang out with good food options. There are 2 pool tables to play on, a fire outside to sit around, and heaters if you are cold.
Our experience at this establishment left much to be desired. We patiently waited for approximately 10 minutes before finally receiving water at our table, during which we observed the wait staff engaging in shots with other patrons. Unfortunately, the ordeal didn't end there. It took a staggering 60 minutes for my food to arrive, only to be served cold. Even after sending back the chicken sandwich to be reheated, it returned disappointingly dry. It would have been greatly appreciated if we had been informed beforehand about the presence of new kitchen staff, as this may have influenced our ordering decisions. While the atmosphere was undeniably cool, the service fell far short of expectations and the food was merely average, considering the cost.
We are visiting from out of state and wanted a good place to eat after going to the beach. All of the food was awful. The fries were overcooked to the point of being hollow inside. The burgers were flavorless and dry. The fish was 80% breading with a small piece of fish inside. Even the quesadilla was bad with the cheese not even beginning to have started melting. I was really hopeful after seeing the reviews and was sadly completely disappointed.
Great local bar and grill! Just moved to the area and this place was in walking distance. Just up from the beach, they have a peek ocean view from the deck, very cool vibe. For a bar and grill, their food is on point! Burgers were huge and juicy, do the Bourbon glaze burger! Great house salad for my wife with roasted walnuts, dried cranberries and blue cheese. Prices are very reasonable considering the area. Had a couple margaritas, on the strong side which was cool. Staff was fun and friendly. We went on a Sunday early evening, caught a good sunset. This will be our local pub for sure!
I like to come here after work or after a stroll at the beach. Not usually busy during the hours I've visited. Their bartenders are awesome and welcoming. Beer is always cold. Yeah! A+
Not great, morgan gave alright service but food was ehhh. Took a long time and came out cold.fish tacos were completely flavorless
Nice outdoor seating areas but they were short staffed so ended up waiting over an hour for our food. One meal came out cold.
Just wasn't a great experience.
Really nice downtown urban beach view from the outside deck. Was not a huge fan of the food but it was decent. The beachy type of atmosphere was my fav.
Great bar food (garlic tots and chicken tenders) and the jalapeno margarita! I wish the service was faster
I believe this is La Jolla's only dive bar but it's an awesome fun spot, seen surfers/tennis players/bikers here and everything in between. Bartenders are kind and quick to make you drinks. The lady got a whiskey sour and I got a beer, both great - couldn't be happier that a place I used to pass over a thousand times growing up is now a fun spot we can frequent regularly. Can't wait to come back! Plus.when it closes Rigobertos is across the street to fill you up.
Used to come here all the time for Sunday happy hour plus hamburgers when I lived in PB. Was just here to visit this time and brought the family. Good drinks, chill vibe and love the Windansea Beach walking distance away.
Great selection of beers, cocktails and food at decent prices! I love your patio vibe as well.
Nice enough place I just stopped in at 3: 00 on a Wednesday afternoon and ordered a margarita. It was $12.50, now I'm only 73 years old, so take this for what it's worth, but 12.50 for a margarita at 3: 00 in the afternoon, house tequila?
Not a good dive bar, lots of underage LJ kids and someone stole my credit card.
Used to work here, didn't know it could get worse.
Staff and Owners of this place or so friendly, great service and as far as food goes I do recommend fried calamari, halibut sourdough sandwich
Great beach spot. Got a burger which hit the spot. Only wish the bar seating had a better view. Still solid choice for fun, views and drinks
We were traveling from Texas and an old navy officer recommended. Amazing place to eat. Truly a gem and they have fantastic burgers (1/2 pound) and great wings. Marissa was wonderful and the place has a cool vibe! We loved everything except for the limited parking.
