The Shops at Tanforan reviews
17They seriously need to hire a competent technician to solve their ongoing escalator problem
This place is officially dead. I came in because I wanted a quick snack before work it was “open” but nothing was actually open. They should tear it down and build affordable housing units for low income families.
Small shopping center check it out if u have a long layover at SFO
got a food court and small shops to see
Out of love for San Bruno.this Mall is always 5 stars to me! It was an exciting place in the 90s. They had Sam Goody, a big costume competition on Halloween. Just tons of excitement especially after the remodel. Target with the $1.08 icees back in the day were my favorite. Small humble community, love shopping here!
Shopping at this department store is always a pleasure. The store's atmosphere is bright, clean, and well-maintained, creating a pleasant environment for browsing. The product range is diverse, featuring both popular brands and unique finds. The customer service is top-notch, with friendly and knowledgeable staff readily available to assist. I appreciate their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction. Shopping here is a truly enjoyable experience!
That is it the Starbucks and the Ralphs at this location, both were very clean it up to par.
Does not meet expectations at all. Half of the shops are closed. For the third month, there are posters everywhere about the children's club on the first Wednesday of the month, which has been closed since the beginning of summer.
Tanforan has a really good Target. With JCPenney shutting down most of it's stores over the last 3 years, this is the only JCPenney on the Peninsula if you need to make a quick stop. BJ's at Tanforan is really good. It is a nice hang out location if you like watching live games while munching on some nachos.
Hard to even tell if it's open. Of three entrance doors, only one is functional. One other has been marked "out of order" for months, the third is just cordoned off. Inside, the guides and signs are out of order or just blank. The two main escalators were both out of order and blocked off. The only way between floors was an out-of-the-way elevator. Would rate it one-star but the bathroom, once I managed to find it, was surprisingly clean and in good order. The lone bright spot in this ghost town. Oh, Black Betty.
Cool place. Free parking. It even has a movie theater.
Edit: a lot of stores are empty because Tanforan will no longer be there in a few years because a different company bought the land and they're doing something else there now.
I'm not going to lie to you. This place has seen better days. The old Sears has been shut down, with the ground floor turned into a car dealership. There are a couple stores that have already permanently closed, and given that Tanforan will be closing, we'll probably be seeing more and more shops leaving the mall.
I suggest you better visit it while you can before the mall is shut down and torn down.
I don't know what will happen to the Target, movie theater, and the Barnes and Noble.
Shocked this place is still even open, there isn’t much left in here. Most of the escalators don’t work and there aren’t any stairs so you can’t even go to the second floor unless you park there.
Average mall with a theater, clothes shop, and place to get drinks/food. Also has a Barnes and Nobles!
Unfortunately there are hardly any shops open. This mall will be closing soon so that is why the shops are closing.
Dismal is decaying. They're about to tear it down in the next year or two to build something else sorry but he really doesn't have that much interest in it anymore
They'll be closing this mall down soon. In the meantime, there's a Barnes & Noble and absolutely the worst Century theatre I've ever been to.
All you really need to know for the time being is that they are now hosting Off the Grid (food trucks) on the Petsmart side of the lot every Tuesday from 5 PM.
This review pays homage to Tanforan and reflects on what it used to be, rather than its current state in recent years. Despite the changes, the Barnes & Noble bookstore remains an excellent establishment, with two floors dedicated to books, movies, and a cozy café. Previously, I used to frequent the FYE movie store in the mall, where I enjoyed sifting through used DVDs and always managed to find a cool addition to my collection.
One notable loss is Spencer's, a cool shop that unfortunately closed its doors. Another cherished establishment was Sears, a great place where we purchased our washer/dryer and bought clothes from the Lands End retailer located inside Sears.
However, after the COVID-19 lockdowns, this mall experienced a significant decline, losing approximately one-third of its stores. It's disheartening to learn that the mall is slated for demolition in the near future, making way for office spaces.
Hopefully, the beloved bookstore and Spencer's will find a new home at Serramonte. This mall is visually appealing and well-maintained, having undergone a complete renovation 15 years ago. It's unfortunate that the owners have struggled to properly manage this precious gem.
