The Stinking Rose reviews
14So much garlic! As a garlic lover, this place is almost paradise. One of my favorite things here is the garlic roasted in olive oil. I could absolutely eat the whole pan of it myself. The prices are a little steep (for what it is) and the vibe is a bit tourist trap-y, but as long as you know what to expect, it's not too bad. And really, for that garlic oil.totally worth it.
There is no such thing as too much garlic.
May the good Lord see fit to bless the staff of the Stinking Rose, who are clearly doing the work of the Almighty as they spread the gospel of Garlic to the unenlightened. Can I get an Amen?
Is the SF location open? I’ve heard wonderful things about this place, but the last 3 times we’ve been in SF since May 2021, they’ve been closed.
OMG, this place is the bomb! Don't come here if you don't like garlic. The smell when you walk in is great, fantastic service and the food is awesome. Can't wait to come back to San Fran and eat again.
If you love garlic, this is the spot you need in your life. The garlic flavor is perfect, it’s abundant but not in a cheap overpowering way.
If you like garlic, this is the place to be. Good food, friendly staff. Like to be there more often, but unfortunately too far away from home.
Like garlic? !? Like smelling like garlic for hours or days on end? !? Then look no farther!
Any garlic lover will rejoice in the decadent decor and appetizer brought to your weary eyes. The smell permeates your nasal cavity from blocks away. How the residents of this fine area much abhor the smell of garlic over time. I, for one, will love garlic for all of its uncanny excellence for all of time.
All that said, the bread and roasted garlic appetizer was superb (as to be expected at this type of establishment.) How you still grace my tastebuds so. However, the pasta, forgive me for not recalling the exact dish, was only so-so. The main course was the main letdown of the entire experience. Rather tasteless compared to the roasted garlic. Or, perhaps the roasted garlic desensitized me to the seasonings in the main dish. I may never know.
That said, definitely worth a first or second try. I will definitely give it another go on my next stop in this area.
Fish soup, garlic mashed potatoes, garlic chicken, meatball pizza, and sangria are the dishes we get here most frequently. This place is a landmark and we eat here once or twice every time we're in the CIty. It is a tourist spot, but it is large and usually you can get in with only and short wait. The wait staff have always been just super friendly. It is well worth the effort to check it out at least once. You'll like it and you'll probably find yourself returning time and time again.
Go to this restaurant every year. I would recommend the soup with the pastry cap. I also love the mushroom raviolis. Great for familys and big groups.
Don’t miss the garlic ice cream!
This is your destination, if you want an extraordinary experience!
Excellent service and delicious food!
The expectation is a garlic restaurant and they do a great job at de orating the place, but the reality is that the food is quite overpriced and the food is mediocre. It’s all garlic themed if that’s up your alley but for the price point it wasn’t really worth it. Would highly encourage checking a menu before committing to a reservation.
Food is great! Can be pricy, wait times are pretty long. Bring your appetite, but also your patience. It’s definitely worth the wait.
Love this city gem! Perfect date night every time. The garlic hat was hilarious.and his birthday dinner was a blast thanks to the staff and the chef!
If uou love garlic, and who doesn't, this is the place for you. From their signature "Chicken with 30 cloves of garlic" to the genuine Gilroy Garlic ice cream. I don't think there is anything on the menu that doesn't come with garlic. The prices are a bit high, but it is an experience well worth the price. And to top it off, you get to see the worlds longest and heaviest braid of garlic. A sight worth at least half the codt of admission. You gotta try it. You won't regret it.
