Ya gotta experience this atleast once in a lifetime. Yeah its a grip $. Just relax don't think about it and enjoy the excellent service!

Food served was cold. Staff was not professional and classy. Did not seem like a 5 star dining experience at all. Staff also seemed not well trained and not seasoned. They denied to accommodate our request for switch of tables twice and that too in a unprofessional manner. I feel lot of work if needed to bring it to the level of other 5 star restaurants close by.

The portions were small given the price, but I'm still giving it 5 stars. It was tasty, and the views are great. Service was great, too.

We were here as part of our stay at the Alila Ventana resort.

Overall, the food was a bit of a mixed bag. We stayed for two nights and had three lunches. The breakfast was good, the lunch excellent, and the dinner was honestly a bit disappointing.

Everything we had during lunch was really well prepared, we tried essentially the whole menu. For the dinner, it seemed like they tried too hard to be fancy. Ingredient quality was just okay, too many flavors, preparation was subpar. I'd recommend focusing on simplifying it and just going for excellent quality and taste.

The free drink during social hour was fun, but unless you really love lavender, you might consider asking them to omit that flavoring. Made the drink much more enjoyable for me at least!

The view from the patio is, of course, amazing. The servers and staff were all wonderful.

Ate here for dinner 3 times while staying for 3 nights at the resort. Overall it was a fantastic experience every time. Attentive waiters, delicious food, good portion sizes and variety.

Some of the highlights over the 3 days include for appetizers: King Salmon and Grilled Prawns are a must-get option. Extremely flavorful, delicate, light and delicious.

For entrees: Beef Ribeye, Sable fish, King Salmon (normally not offered but was in place of Sable Fish one night due to availability). Chose to get the beef with a side salad (Harvest of Lettuce) rather than the suggested sides. All the proteins were cooked to absolute perfection every single time. Harvest of lettuce salad was shockingly good and a great pairing with the steak.

You cannot go wrong with any of the dessert options, every single one was fantastic.

We had the same friendly server all 3 nights. The quality of the food being served here is much higher than the in-suite dining options for the same menu items.

If you’re planning on having breakfast while you charge your Tesla, don’t. You can’t order food before 11: 30 unless you’re a resort guest.

Beautiful view. Nice menu. Food was great. Good cocktails and a few really nice beers. A must visit if you're in Big Sur.

Some of the best meals I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the Spanish Octopus & Fogline Farms Chicken!

Only stopped for a quick charge at the Tesla Supercharger and walked up to find a super nice staff greeting us at the outside bar. Excellent service and perfect refreshment with an outstanding view.

One of the better meals I've had in my entire life. The view was mesmerizing and the food was outstanding.

TLDR: mediocre food, terrible service

Had a 5pm dinner reservation and was given the worst table in the house (no tables behind me) even though the restaurant was empty (maybe one other table sat) upon my arrival. I was “glamping, ” meaning I was not paying $2000/night at the resort, so I’m assuming that had something to do with it.

Service matched the seating location - my server did not make me feel welcome but more like he was doing me a favor, was very rushed and did not walk me through the menu at all or even try to make suggestions, both things I would expect when spending $200+ on dinner. I did notice another server when I was about to leave who was very kind and helpful, so I’d request Michael next time.

Cocktails - The Marine slayer was delicious and came with a fun smoke bubble, but wouldn’t pay $28 for it again. The warm punch was way too sweet.

Food was mediocre at best - I am a foodie to the core and expected a lot more flavor. I had the kabocha squash soup and sea scallops with risotto. The kabocha squash was fine but nothing to write home about, scallops were not impressive but at least were cooked properly. The risotto was incredibly salty/inedible. For $55/plate they should be tasting before serving!

The dog meals are fun and appreciated. Next time I’d ask them for a half portion as it was a lot of food for my little 20lb pup. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here again. If the service was a little better that might’ve changed my overall experience but this truly put a damper on my first night in Big Sur.

Great place, unfortunately our waiter had a emergency and left us. We had to go find a new waiter for desserts. We waited over 20 mins after dishware was picked up. Dessert were worth the wait!

Great food and impeccable service! Personal favorites are scallops with risotto and seasonal galette as dessert. Our pup also loved black bass on dog menu.

Awesome views overlooking Pacific Ocean. Food is pretty good even better than some of the Michelin restaurants I have visited.

Wonderful food and great service! When we were here, Sur House was the place that served all the meals, including lunches.

Breakfast: lox and bagels, chia seed, Ventana breakfast are good
Lunch: guac and chips, grilled chicken sandwich, churrasco
Dinner: we enjoyed Santa Barbara prawns, day boat scallops, duck breast, garganelli pasta

Loved the food and the service. Interesting flavors and unique combinations made each meal a bit of an adventure. The chef improvised a special dish for us several times on request. The view is spectacular, secluded yet open to the ocean, mountains, forest. In the evening, the outdoor seating is comfortable thanks to the gas heaters.
