The Surf Motel at Gualala

I cannot begin to describe how wonderful this place was.

Jade is possibly one of the best hotel managers I’ve ever met. She let us view and choose between three separate rooms due to earlier cancellations (flooding up north) and helped us upgrade to an ocean-view room. She even found and returned my wallet which I had dropped in the parking lot, late in the evening after her shift had already ended. Thank you Jade for such a comfortable and lovely stay!

The room itself was so perfect- the main feature was the view. Being able to observe the sun fall and paint the sky orange over the ocean and wake up to a beautiful sunny morning with the soft sound of ocean waves crashing against the shore, i couldn’t ask for a better way to ring in the new year. I would 100% stay again and highly recommend this to anyone needing to spend a night in the area

The Surf Inn is great, and the only reason is because of the manager Jade! She is the best, I couldn't be more adamant about this. I had to stay there for 10 weeks for work, and I had a clean room and linens for my stay. If I left anything behind, it would always be there when I returned. It is dog friendly, and her dog Roxy is a sweetheart. Jade also has treats for her dog guest. I forgot to mention the views. Good pit stop!

It’s easy to book/reserve and the staff is straight forward. If you need anything, they are quick to respond. Enjoy a good coastal view too. I’d recommend

AWESOME find in a sleepy surf town on the coast. Jade, the manager/owner is a complete sweetheart and makes you feel like you’re at home. We had an ocean view suite and sat there watching the sunset happy as can be.

The room is clean and updated, but a little crammed. Parking lot is safe and the motel is right next to several restaurants and the Surf Market grocery store which basically feels like a homegrown Whole Foods. Will stay here again if back in Gualala!

Very nice room with a VERY comfortable bed, a nice fire pit area and plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a very friendly staff! Will DEFINITELY be back!

Nice hotel within walking distance of a couple of restaurants. It's quaint, quiet, nothing fancy but I really liked it.

Charming seaside hotel. Absolutely beautiful views. Check in is super easy & front desk associate was very helpful with all of my questions. We had a cozy little room, very clean with all the amenities. Hotel manager is amazing. Definitely our new favorite getaway.

We loved our stay at the Surf Inn/Motel in Gualala. We had never been to the area and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location of the Inn is amazing. Right on the ocean. The view from our room was fantastic. The room was great and most importantly to us, our bed was ultra comfortable. There was plenty of outdoor seating where we ate lunch and a fire pit with a pile of wood available. The staff was great and very friendly. They were helpful in suggesting places to eat and things to see. Everyone that we came in contact with during our time in Gualala was so friendly. It’s a great place to relax and sightsee. We strongly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

Great bedding! Forget the Marriott beds- these European down feather toppers and mattress covers were incredible! Updated upholstery, flooring and bathroom fixtures. Spacious room, coffee maker, fridge and can’t beat it for convenience location. Eat at Sea Ranch, 16min south, to glam up your stay.

Good deal and great for dog owners! Dog-friendly.

We arrived late, past when the office was open, but they had a super easy check-in process that made arriving late not a problem.

No breakfast or fancy amenities, but it's got a great view of the ocean and a cute little place to sit and watch it, if you need. It's right off Highway 1, but we didn't notice any highway noise at all. Close to gas stations and food.

Only drawback was that the air-conditioner leaked pretty badly, but it wasn't so hot that we needed it on very long. We told management, so hopefully it's fixed by the time you get there!

We only stayed one night while on a road trip, and arrived late, so didn't stay long, but would stay there again!

Excellent location right in the beach and town center. Staff were very friendly and helpful giving tips for places to eat, visit and making check in easy. Room was clean and comfortable and everything worked. Recommended.

The price was terrific and the lady in the office was very, very nice! The room was great. Clean, cute and comfortable. Has a nice area to sit outside and view the ocean. Has washing machine and dryer. I can only hope to find another place as nice to stay on our vacation.

This is my second stay at surf motel and it is always my go-to lodging. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Best part is that it is dog friendly with reasonable dog fees.

Extremely pleasant motel in a great location, very friendly, very comfortable, best TV service I've ever seen. Great value.

I had an awesome stay. Jade is wonderful and makes sure you are comfortable and happy with your room. I was given a room with a picture window of the ocean, and it was very roomy and comfortable. When you bring your dog (s), they are given a treat bag. Definitely would recommend this motel to anyone. Only downside, is there is no beach access, but you get a beautiful bluff view.
