Tokyoya Sushi reviews
19Nice sushi restaurant, good food, clean and good service. The parking is kind of small but we got a space easily because it’s afternoon past lunch and weekdays.
I really loved the sushi at Tokyoya Sushi. I've gotten a couple different specialty rolls and love them both! We also split some sake that was very delicious. If you're looking for some really great sushi Tokyoya is a must. I highly recommend and would love to come back.
Good Sashimi, very small portion, pricey. I ordered salmon yuzu w/ truffle oil. Six pieces of salmon 3/4” x 1-1/2” x 3/16”, nice presentation. For approximately 2-3 oz of sushi @ $19, at 3oz that’s $100/lb.
I thought the portion was miserly. I should have gone to a seafood restaurant. Sorry I didn’t take a picture. Typical restaurant pricing is 1/3 food cost, 1/3 labor, 1/3 profit. It took minutes to eat it was so small. This was just a micro appetizer. I was still hungry, Not worth ordering more, so I went across the street to Summer Buffalo to eat.
I always passed by and didn’t think about stopping in… but once I did…. I was sold! Such Wonderful service. Fresh seafood! 3 way uni was insane! Everything was great! Love this small place! The sushi chefs are very nice, the girls working there are super sweet! Dian was our kind waitress and she was so friendly and attentive! This place is a very clean and cozy spot. It’s definitely a gem in Burbank!
Let me start off with the most positive thing about this place: the food! Which is what you want to hear when you go to a restaurant, right? Good food. In this case, good sushi. Really good sushi at an affordable price.
I strongly recommend the Cucumber wrap. That crunch and savoriness of the fish.hits! And the ex-girlfriend, unless you don't like little fried onions.
What you skip: the baked scallop roll. It just wasn't it for me. Wasn't horrible, but eating everything else.felt lacking.
Okay, the not so good part of this place: the service. I will preface this with they do have a "help wanted" sign outside their door. And don they need it. I don't think it's entirely the lack of staff.
After waiting 20-25 minutes being seatee and asking if there was a list to put our names on, one of the wait staff came over and asked the billion of us outside waiting to be seated if he added our names to the list. Like, dude, really? Whatever. We quickly made work with the menu because we hungry but had to wait almost another 10 minutes to have someone our order, which we wrote out because we had all the time in the world. Fine, whatever. Then I started noticing people that came in after us getting served before us. Which is a not a pleasant thing for a hungry, paying customer to see. On top of which, when our dishes started coming out, they would forget things. Hmmm.
Now, I've been to some places that were short staffed but the staff that was there was on it. Perhaps to each their own.
We did notice while that take out and delivery orders got preferential treatment.
Now, a Friday night might not be the best night to dine with the shortage of staff, the long wait and the inconsistency of service, but take out seems to be a winner.
Oh my goodness! I have found my go-to sushi spot in the valley! Went here for dinner with a friend and was so impressed with the quality of the fish. So much so that I came back the following night by myself! The main chef is amazing, staff is great, and restaurant was clean!
Very much highly recommend!
Popcorn Langoustine, Popcorn Shrimp and Baked Langoustine rolls are some of the best in LA!
We went as a group of 5 and was going good until one of one of the waitress came and was not giving a good vibe she was rude while our order she took my chopsticks that were open did not want us to pay individually which makes no sense at alll.very unprofessiona. Was charged the tip to 1 person which she could done it differently.so disappointed. Your welcome for the review
Delicious sushi spot with decent priced options for lunch. They forgot my miso soup, but it was still a good experience.
I rate tokyoya sushi 5 stars based on their great service and friendly staff. I ordered a baked scallop roll which was plated very beautifully and with love. Made me want more.
Wonderful place to get high quality and delicious sushi. The blue crab hand roll is mild but very tasty, and the mackerel and huge Hokkaido scallop Nigris are my go tos. Highly recommend you try out Tokyoya!:)
Food was delicious. Had the chicken bento box. Good selection of salad, soup, and tempura to accompany your main dish. There was one waitress with a cold stone look on her face, she never smiled, from the minute I walked in to the minute I left, nothing but cold face to everyone she served. She gave the place a creepy vibe.
Once a favorite, and they were a go-to many times during covid, but they have really dropped off in the past year. Even though the quality dropped way off, we keep trying every 6-8 weeks in the hope they improve. Sadly, it hasn't happened, and I think last night was our final visit.
Service was and always has been great. The atmosphere is always good. Prices have really shot up, which is understandable, but the quality of the fush simply doesn't match. Our unagi was almost like jerkey this time, and with the exception of albacore belly, our nigiri was pretty bland.
We never order from their cuisine menu, and that's probably fine, but for sushi, especially considering the prices, I feel you can do better.
I fell in love with the Waikiki location at Ala Moana and Low and Behold one opens across the road from me in California!
FYI: Some nights are BUSIER, then normal. Plan accordingly.
Ordered 3 Currys and 1 bulgogi. The picture on the menu showed the old school way of serving curry where it's all in one small dish. What we got was 3 deconstructed dishes. It was good and all but it tastes so much better when it's smashed together. The bulgogi was also also separated out. But it was good.
Incredible place. I have been about 10 times. The atmosphere is clean, the staff are kind and take special orders like not adding wasabi or sesame seeds. My brother gets tonkatsu curry and i get the moto sushi combo. It includes 5 nigiri pieces and 5 rolls with just seaweed, rice, and your choice of tuna ot salmon. <i get salmon>
Would recommend!
DELICIOUS food, great beer, and fantastic, speedy service.
Only setback is the parking situation, very limited!
A place to keep coming back for more.
Decent sushi place. Nothing super special but does check all the boxes. Had sashimi and teriyaki chicken. Chicken was a little overdone. Service is adequate. Great little spot.
Order a beef teriyaki and received a hard thin tasteless beef cut in slices and a small container with supermarket bottled teriyaki sauce.the saddest and most ridiculous thing I ever got as a delivery food.
