Torch Lite Inn Santa Cruz CA Hotel

This turned out to be a great grab for a great deal. The exterior is pretty rough looking with the filled-in pool area and nothing to supplement the area now. Parking isn't very much either. But once you get inside the room is pleasantly nice. The king-size bed was comfortable. If you're like us you always have a spare blanket cause hotel blankets tend to be a been thin. Was helpful that it had a heater and air conditioning unit for temperature control. The bathroom shower was nice as well. And what I say was my favorite which may sound simple but will soon go existent from the hotel was access to both a microwave and refrigerator. Overall for the simple price, convenience to downtown, the boardwalk, and food. I would say we would be back again

Rooms are clean, but need help. Transients all around the area and in the parking lot. Parking isn’t the greatest. Rooms wall are thin. Sunday trash can be heard at 5 am. I didn’t pay much but at the same time wouldn’t pay anymore.

Really cute place. Service was amazing! We complained about our neighbors bc they were running and banging on the walls all night. Front desk solved it right away, and even called to ask if the noise stopped!

I like it so far and it's definitely affordable, much better than other places that charge too much.

Racist. Every time I try to stay here it’s always a hassle just getting in. This time they told me they couldn’t accept my debit card because my girlfriends name is on it. Looking back on my past stays you can clearly see they’ve accepted it before. This started as far back as ‘09 when they told me they wouldn’t rent to locals.

The rudest staff - man at the lobby.haven’t seen staff so mean at motels yet.not good vibe

We rented 2 rooms for our family vacation, both rooms had a lot of problems, heater didn’t work, gap between floor and entrance door you can hear everything that going around.
BUGS!

They never gave me a reason why they kept the deposit and refuse to answer calls or emails. AVOID!

Room was smoked and no smoke alarms staff was horrible every person will response different.my wife and kids entered room and there used restroom because we are traveling from 4hrs I’m moving luggage to room then my wife told me room was full somke when. I call lobby person explain she told there can not change room talk to manager.manager is not available I don't know why there have manager non responsible. I don't know Santa Cruz safe inspection no do for motels?

Room was really nice & modern & spacious.
Location was very good only a few minutes walk from the pier.
The 2 female receptionists are lovely! However the male receptionist is extremely rude and unprofessional. He would not listen to the question I was asking and proceeded to raise his voice.
The walls are paper thin you can hear everything & you can hear all of the traffic.

The number of overpriced hotels in Santa Cruz has created a number of weird hotels like Torch Lite Inn. The rooms were clean but the facilities not so much. The pool was fully covered by dirt.

Horrible service. Do not buy this hotel, when If your situation is unexpected and the insurance I tried to add this is only one day. No refundable. I tried to make a call to this man and he does not understand what I am trying to say.

We stayed two nig Thursday and Friday before labor day. The rooms were clean and linen fresh. There was a mini refrigerator and a small microwave but no coffee machine in the room. Two things that were bothersome and those are from the advertisement posted online. In their pictures they show the room with 2 double beds with a sliding glass door that leads to a balcony. That wasn't the case in our room. No sliding glass door and no balcony. The other was the most disappointing and that not only was, there no pool, there however was no pool whatsoever just a complete area where the pool once was, filled with dirt. After reading reviews which was my bad didn't read till after the fact but in those it said pool under renovation some of those dating back two years. The only pool area was only dirt and no signs of a pool whatsoever which in those reviews the owners said they were sorry but the pool was under renovation and should be up and running soon. No such thing. No signs of renovation only a locked area with a sign on the gate that read "pool closed". Ya think? II was looking forward to taking my toddler granddaughter into a pool because I wouldnt take her into the ocean at the beach to play in the water. That's too dangerous. False advertising if you ask me, the pool was under dirt, all of it! To me that is wrong. Thank goodness the beach was a few blocks away. Won't Stay in a hotel that states the opposite of what it actually was. Oh I forgot to mention that our room was on the second floor. The flooring outside of the room where the patio table were the ground had recently been painted and the paint was peeling paint. Some parts of that area did not feel like solid ground it felt' more like stepping on foam with no real support under it.

YOU SHOULD REALLY CHANGE THE PICTURES ONLINE BEFORE YOU GET SUED FOR FALSE ADVERTISING! THIS IS ABSURD!
FALSE ADVERTISING AT IT'S FINEST!

Location was really the only positive thing I can say about this place. It's within walking distance from the boardwalk. Saw pictures of the pool and was looking forward to a dip after the day at the boardwalk. But we arrived, we were VERY disappointed to see the pool area filled with dirt. No pool, barley any parking, and very pricey for an ok hotel.
