Totoyama Sushi & Ramen reviews
18 Walked in expecting a regular sushi spot but this place has won me over.
Starting from the amazing service right from the start. Immediately felt welcomed and he was very thorough when we needed explanations. Also checked with us to see if we had any allergies.
Food was just perfect. Very rich broth, perfect char chasu. Then the chefs special was just amazing.
Highly recommend stopping by to be able to enjoy by far one of my best dining experiences.
Totoyama is delicious with great service. We went to dinner there before a show at the pantages. They have a $55 omakase, we did a bunch of apps, oysters, sushi special and drank a bunch of sake. Delicious and would go back!
Location is the key for Totoyama. An excellent choice for tourist and theatre patrons Totoyama is located just across from a LA Metro station and other lesser restaurant alternatives.
In a town with many Japanese cuisine alternatives, Totoyama serves excellent fresh sushi. The staff is welcoming and accommodating. The decor is smartly done creating a charming dining place in their limited spacing.
Expect to pay a premium for their fresh ingredients and convenience and a touch of tourist tax. There are usually specials written on the board including an Omakase choice which can be the smart thing to choose. For $55 they may include an additional roll, soup, and edamame side dish.
My tip is to avoid their ramen for this tasted like it wasn't even given a 2nd thought except to provide a more affordable option for patrons. The broth had no savoriness or hint of a true ramen slow-cooked broth. I could probably safely guess it came out of some powder mix and garnished with fresh ingredients. Something closer to what you can do at home.
The avocado salmon bowl here was excellent, and the wait staff were incredibly attentive and very friendly! I really enjoyed eating here!
Made a carry out order. It took close to 40 minutes to prepare an order of ramen.
The food itself was incredibly under seasoned and bland.
The staff at this restaurant were very polite and understanding. I do wish my Tonkotsu ramen had more broth flavor in it. I remember getting moderate spice level but wasn’t that spicy as I imagined it to be. Food presentation looked nice and the ramen was boiling hot. But my stomach was fulfilled and happy!
I really liked it here, I had to run an errand in Hollywood and got super hungry so I searched for sushi places and this popped up. I normally don’t like eating this close to Hollywood Blvd but this place still felt intimate and detached from all the tourist mayhem. I did not try the ramen, but I loved both the Albacore Tuna Roll and Nigiri that I ordered. I’m not in this area of LA much, but I will come here again if I am.
I've wanted to try this place for yearsssss.and I am sooo happy I finally got the chance! It was incredible! I had the spicy garlic edamame.the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen (hold the fish cake) medium spice, with some plum wine and a coke. I will dream about it. It was sooo good. Some of the best Ramen I've had since returning from Japan. We sat outside which served for some fantastic people watching. Service was phenomenal! I will absolutely be back and highly recommend you make this happen!
Note.its right on Hollywood Blvd near the funko pop store and Pantages theater, so allot extra time to park if you make a reservation. There's a parking structure right behind/next to it which is very convenient. We had a table of 7. Tip was included in the bill!
Ramen made by Gods
Waited like 20 mins for a table and it was SO WORTH IT
Highly recommend asking for it medium spicy, itll be a little bland if you ask for not spicy
We waited 20 min for the waiter to take our order, but he never did. But he did take the order of two parties that came after us. So we decided to just leave and mostly likely never coming back
Exceeded expectations! Delicious broth (pork and vegan were both great), chewy noodles, fast service. The whole staff spoke Japanese, and everything felt authentic and fresh. This rivals all my other favorite Sawtelle and Little Tokyo spots! Top notch!
Great food! We love Japanese and this didn’t fail to impress us. Great lunch menu which was fab. Ramens delicious. Sashimi bowls were fab and the tuna spicy crunch rolls were yum! We will be back!
Food is a bit bland, even for medium spicy ramen, but my friend likes the crispy tuna roll. Service was okay, since it was a busy Saturday before going to Pantages for a show.
Totoyama Sushi & Ramen is top quality establishment at a very cool location. Every item we ordered here was throughly enjoyed by our party. You could tell that good quality ingredients were used because you are ready to go about your day even after eating a lot! The drinks were decent. The service there is friendly, courteous, and professional. Would definitely recommend Totoyama Sushi & Ramen to anyone in the area!
This place was packed, and I can see why. I didn’t even mind. The sushi was amazing, and the ramen was great as well.
Unique and tasty rolls-light and nicely portioned. Try the spicy tuna with crispy rice cake for a real treat. Authentic Japanese hospitality added to this delicious 5 star sushi experience.
Place was horrible! I am a person who always tries to be polite to others and give them the most respect. My girlfriend grabbed napkin before we went in the restaurant and the waitress came out to yell at me just because of a napkin! Absolutely rude of his part. I was really exited to try this place but you have lost a costumer! He got up all in my face and yeller “CAN I HELP YOU”! With such attitude.
They have 5 star's food and service. I hope they could open some branches in the North Cal.east bay area.
