Tough Turtle Turf, San Diego CA

Pat and my husband are now buddies. Pat is super personable. He coordinated our turf installation. If we had a question my husband could call him up and if he didn't know an answer he would call him back after he figured it out. Those who installed the turf worked quickly. The process took three days. Overall we had a good experience working with turtle turf. Neighbors have been complimenting our yard.

We were referred to TTT from a friend and fellow Labrador Retriever rescuer. Jason was our estimator and became our rep throughout the process.

We are extremely satisfied with TTT. From the estimate, to the measuring, billing / financing, to the installation of our turf. 5 stars without a doubt.

Pat and Tough Turtle Turf were extremely professional, customer-oriented when helping with our front yard. They offer 3 day install, and actually completed the job on time. Pat did an awesome job of informing us on how to maximize and protect our investment, without upselling us on unnecessary add-in’s. We recently made the decision to have our lawns (front and back) replaced with turf. I had not idea where to begin with getting quotes or what questions to ask. When I first called Tough Turtle Turf, I was greeted with a friendly woman who walked me through the process. Within a few days we had an initial walkthrough scheduled. Patrick was right on time and SO GREAT! Honestly, he is the most friendly and knoweldagble salesman I have ever meet! He bought us all about the turf and answered all my silly questions (ie.we have 3 dogs and where does the pee go? !) It took a few moments after he left to decide we would be using them for the job! Patrick kept me updated throughout the process prior to install and was onsite when the crew arrived on the first day of work! Install was SO fast and the crew worked so hard! We could not be happier with how it turned out an our entire experience with Tough Turtle Turf! It feels so good to have a bright green lawn (that looks SO real) that we don't have to water or mow! Thank you to Patrick for making the process so easy and fun! If you are thinking about having turf installed, look no further! TTT is the best in the business!

I can’t say enough about this team. From sales Jason Hayworth to project manager Diego. Jason was very knowledgeable does not push the sale but does give you the details and necessary information you need to make solid good decisions. And Diego the project manager and his team were awesome showed up to work and did just that. They kept to there schedule worked around material delays and still worked the project and made adjustments along the way The team is awesome reliable I highly recommend you asked for both Jason and Diego to do your job! We are pleased with Tuff Turtle Turf the scheduled our installation date and completed the work in one day. The front yard looks excellent.

My mom’s yard was done by Tough Turtle turf and it still looks good years later so of course I wanted the same quality done for my yard. Mike Reiser and his team are amazing! They turned out jungle yard into a relaxing tropical vibe. I no longer feel like a snake might be hiding in the bushes or an animal jumping out of our yard. Yes, we also had other places come out and give us quotes but they didn’t lay out a plan on different landscaping ideas that would work great with our turf that wasn’t boring and existing plants. When we had concerns Mike took care of it. Our project was pushed back a bit cause of scheduling issues but just be patient cause the outcome is amazing! Thanks again guys!

***BEWARE*** Dishonest company and bad ethical business. I was a returning customer who previously had turf installed with this company and thought a second experience would be even better. I was wrong. After receiving a quote from the manager, he strongly suggested I should commit and pay the deposit to get on the work schedule, so I could get the turf installed soonest. I paid. It took over a month to get the required HOA documents sent to me, and even then, it was incomplete. Almost a month later, they called and said the turf I selected was not available, but would be available the following month. Fast forward almost two months later, I still had no scheduled turf installation date and still no HOA approval due to incomplete documents, which the company was to provide. I contacted the manager and the corporate office to request a refund of my full deposit, based on the circumstances, and explained my situation in detail. They ended up refunding only 50% of my deposit, which feels like highway robbery. Bad ethics and poor treatment of what was a returning customer. Look elsewhere for a quality turf installation company.

I paid over 14k dollars for a small backyard and was told the ground would be leveled first which it wasn't. Now we are having problems installing a shed as the slope is too great. Was told that they would put a nice border which ended up looking like old s​crap wood. The person in charge, Gregg said he would be there every step of the way and he wasn't. He was supposed to come back yesterday and we waited all day without him showing up. I had initially told "Gregg" that I was worried about seams. He said not to worry. When the guys were going to leave, they said they would give us some extra pieces for the shed area. I'm assuming it's because they knew how much of a slope it was. Well, no extra pieces and a big slope. Now we have to cut into the new turf to our the shed up. Not a happy customer

I am absolutely devastated with this company. I saved up for years to be able to get this done. I was not warned that it would melt. I was told NONE of my windows would cause an issue. I contacted them and they want to charge me extra to fix it! Unbelievable. This is 3 months after install.

Its been less than 24 months since turf was installed in my backyard and I already have multiple sink holes across all of my surfaces. This type of claim is supossedly covered under Tough Turtles warranty, but it seems they are dodging my calls and do not want to repair. It is bad enough that this type off grass issue is already occuring so soon but to add, I have been contacting Turltle for 3+ months with no response; each time I call I am assured a manager will follow up and have even left messages with said supervisor, but no luck.quick to sell $$, slow to back up their name.

We contracted with Tough Turtle Turf for artificial turf around our pool. The service was scheduled for mid August, but due to an emergency, we had to cancel at the last minute. The sales rep indicated that we would need to accept delivery of the turf, etc.because it was already on the truck. No problem. The delivered it and placed it directly in front of the garage doors, even though they were instructed where to put it (nowhere near the garage doors) We had to have someone come out and move everything so we could get cars in and out. Several weeks go by and someone calls and asks how we're enjoying our new artificial turf. "I don't know" I say. "It's still rolled up and sitting in our yard". A few more weeks go by and someone calls to schedule. The only day they had available was right in the middle of our vacation, so she said she would call back. Next thing that happens is a crew shows up at our house at 7: 30 on a Saturday morning - no appointment, no notice. They start to work, but soon realize they don't have half the stuff needed to do the job. So off they go to get some supplies. When the realize again that they don't have enough of what was delivered, they begin to make the project smaller to fit what they have. NOPE. The reason we went with artificial turf was so we didn't need to deal with vegetation around the pool. Work stops at about 2 pm as we all attempt to reach someone - anyone - who could authorize more product. No one called back - not Saturday, not Sunday, and not today, even though they state on their website they are open Saturdays and Sundays. You can see in the picture how they tried to reduce the scope of the work to fit. That's a difference of about 2 feet at the widest point.

Please stay away from them. Overpriced and the contractor they found to install is not professional

Service was poorly managed. In the end there was no final inspection from project manager.
There were multiple request for some corrections in the end and no one took action. I was super disappointed. If I had to start it all over again, this would never be my consideration!

My wife and i are looking to convert our backyard into an outdoor living area.
Met with Jason Talmage tonight. Jason was very personable, professional and honest. No pressure and very plesant. He gave us some additional ideals. If you are thinking about getting turf or just an ideal about design, we highly recommend setting up a meeting with him. Thank you Jason, a pleasure meeting with you and likely will be doing business with Tough Turtle Turf in the near future.

If Turtle Turf tells you during your initial consult that the designer/salesperson, Mike, and the production manager, David, will be onsite throughout your installation don't believe them.

Neither showed to our installation. Turtle Turf's crews are not employees but are subcontractors so should require some oversight. When I asked the production manager, David, why he wasn't at our home for the installation, he replied "it's a simple straightforward project" and he didn't need to be there. Well this "simple project" has become a major problem and inconvenience.

At the install, some base material didn't arrive on time in the morning so the crew decided to nap for 1-1/2 hours on our property. An organized project manager would've ensured it arrived early. Additionally, the crew stored tools on the top of our brand new AC unit.

In the afternoon, even with all material on site, the crew took another hour-long break/nap. This time on the newly installed turf. After completion, the turf had many wrinkles, was uneven, and had very ugly, visible seams. The Turf was also not nailed down on some edges. Even after requesting a new production manager, David finally decided to show at our home the next day to briefly look at the turf. Again he did not stay to oversee/supervise the repair which corrected the wrinkles but did not correct the visible seams. A third visit by the same (subcontracted) crew still did not only correct the seams, but actually made it worse.

The abovementioned issues (and photos) should be of major concern along with the several others posted online with similiar negative feedback.
