Excellent personal and dental care from a very friendly, respectful and professional staff. The doctors are kind on top of their dental artistry and the office personnel are always a delight to encounter. I feel that I am in good hands at the Transcendentist. And the music offerings are great, too!

Excellent dentistry and exceptional staff! Am at ease once I enter the door since staff is highly attentative whether it’s a dental cleaning or complex procedure. Wonderful managing children as well. Highly recommend this practice. Transcendentist is at the top of their field.

I moved a few years ago to the East Bay and I needed to find a new dentist, but I procrastinated. Fast forward to March 2020 and I finally had time and the word COVID19 becomes part of the lexicon and it is life altering.

As I am sheltering in place, I find myself dealing with a tooth ache that is getting increasingly intense in the level of pain and I cannot go to the dentist.

Three months later and it is now May and I randomly started calling dentist because the pain is intolerable.
Two dentist flat out said no, they were not taking new patients.

The third dental office I called was Transcendentist in Berkeley and I spoke with Valerie.
She was kind, compassionate and she got me an appointment as soon as possible.
I went to the appointment and the office followed all of the COVID19 protocol.

The team was exceptionally kind and I felt comfortable with Dr. Kamat immediately.
She and her staff took their time treating me.
She explained in detail what needed to be done.

And she got me an appointment the very next day to see an endodontist where I had an emergency root canal at the appointment.

They are transparent about the cost and the reimbursement process. They do require that you pay for services upfront the office files the claim with your insurance carrier and
the Carrier sends you a check.

The upshot is that they were able to save the tooth and do a crown. From my 1st phone call with Valerie to my last appointment with Dr. Kamat, I felt very well cared for as a person.
It is without hesitation that I recommend Dr. Kamat and her team at Transcendentist.

I have been coming to Transcendentist for over 10 years and I love everything about this business. They take excellent care of my dental needs and always educate me about actions I can take to manage my dental health. They excel in personalized service, Dr Praj always spends time with me talking about what is going on in my dental world as well as my every day world. I feel very cared for on every level. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. Also, Transcendentist is a star on green dentistry. It makes me feel so great to receive care from a business that also cares about our environment! And did I mention, they also give foot massages during your treatments - this helps me relax and totally changes my experience. Best dentist office ever. I've been coming here for over 10 years and tend to see Dr. Ruhi who is amazing but the whole team is really great. I think you could find a cheaper dentist but I value knowing my teeth are in good hands. Of particular note is their attentiveness to patient concerns and they are always happy to explain what they are doing and why which greatly reduces my anxiety about dental visits.

Dr. Praj has been working my teeth for awhile now. She a highly skilled dentist. She’s done three fillings for me and has the gentlest touch with the local anesthetic. She is a master of teeth cleaning!

I have been a patient here for several years now, and am always impressed with the service I get. Very nice people and they do very good work.

Dr Fred just completed the removal of my husband's mercury amalgam fillings. His new dental work looks like virgin teeth! Dr Fred's dentistry is amazing. Truly an artist in his results. While waiting during my husbands visits, I always enjoyed a pleasant, restful time in his soothing office. All of the Transcendentist staff is professional, helpful and VERY friendly.

Dr. Fred is definitely the *best* dentist I have ever been to (and I've been to a lot of dentists over the past 40ish years). I first saw him around 2005 or 2006 and the work that he originally did for me back then has held up beautifully! <- this, in contrast to some less-than-awesome work that I made the mistake of having done elsewhere, thinking it would save me some money. Trust me, "saving money" is not always the way to go when it comes to your teeth, and short-term "savings" turn into expensive corrections later. Dr. Fred's technique is impeccable, and he uses only high-quality materials. I took my 13 year-old to him for the first time yesterday for a filling, and he was so impressed that he talked about the visit all day, and kept telling me, "Thank you so much for taking me to that dentist! " (My son had some traumatic early dentistry experiences with a local pediatric dentist, so I wasn't sure how he would do.) I have seen some negative reviews online where people complain that he is expensive, or that his office is more like a spa, or that some people are put off by the new age vibe or whatever, but let me tell you, Dr. Fred is the real deal. He is not putting on airs. Yeah, he's in Berkeley, yeah, he does yoga (and has done it since he was a kid), he meditates, exercises, sees chiropractors, etc. Bottom line, you won't find a better dentist around town. I can believe that there might be someone "as good" but I can't imagine anyone better. He is worth the trip to Berkeley, and he is worth the price. I don't have dental insurance, so I have to pay it all myself, and I say, still, he is worth it. Best. Dentist. Ever.

I highly recommend going to the Transcendentist. Dr Pockrass is calm, kind and very thorough. I have full confidence that he will catch any cavity, abnormality, etc, and he is very passionate about ensuring great dental hygiene for his patients. He also inspired me to floss every day, without guilt-tripping me! If you have any kind of anxiety about seeing the dentist, or past trauma with your dental work, the Transcendentist is a great place to heal from that and develop more positive experiences with dental hygiene. The receptionists are reliably friendly and thorough as well. The ambience is relaxing and easeful, especially in comparison to other dental offices. Lastly, it's so wonderful to go somewhere that avoids toxic chemicals to your body and to the environment. While it's expensive, I think it's a great investment in your health- physical and mental!

I've been a patient for years, and my experience has always been fabulous. Loved the digital x-ray system.so comfortable and loved the whole experience of feeling my teeth get their brightest, with the help of the fabulous, attentive hygienist. I look forward to my dental appointments now, and from a former phobic, that's saying a lot.

Dr Pockrass and his entire team are wonderful. I have never had such a positive experience in an medical office. I really appreciate how they take a holistic approach to every aspect of their practice. The space is truly beautiful, and the decorations make the whole atmosphere relaxing, which is NOT what I think of when I think dentist! I also really appreciated how they took the time to know me, and talk with me about my previous experiences at the dentist. I felt really cared for. I cant say enough about how different this practice is than any I have ever encountered.

I grew up going to an amazing dentist in New Jersey so I resigned myself to the fate that I would never find someone as amazing once I moved to California. After a series of mediocre dentists, my friend referred me to Dr. Fred and there has been no turning back.

Dr. Fred is comforting, technically skilled and empathic. He worked on some severely broken teeth that were the result of a broken jaw a few years back. Although revisiting the incident was traumatic (I cried in the dentist's chair and was offered some rescue remedy), Dr. Fred took incredible care of me and now I have beautifully repaired and healthy teeth that look as good as new!

The office is lovely and calming, the foot massage during the dental work is incredible, Valerie and Teresa at the front desk are patient and kind, and everyone who works there is genuinely wonderful. I especially appreciate that Dr. Fred (and the providers he's referred me to) call later on in the day to check in with me and see how I'm feeling post dental procedure.

I have referred Dr. Fred to friends and I will continue to do so!

As a professional Dentist AVOIDER for about 20 years, you can probably guess that I don't like going to the dentist. My dental visits as a youth were unpleasant and when I became an adult I basically skipped dental visits the way a child gives their despised food to the family dog under the table when no one is looking. To my own credit, I am one of the only people I know who doesn't have any cavities, so I was pretty happy about that. But over the years my teeth have been overlapping, so I decided to look into braces.
I decided to go to a dentist recently and they told me the only way I could get braces was that i was going to have this procedure where they go under my gum line with a sharp metal tool and scrape the crap out of me and i need to do it in sections on different days because it hurt so bad and you can't eat for days after. I left that appointment practically in tears.
Fortunately, i told some friends what they wanted to do to me and one of my friends said, "oh NO! You need to go to Trancendentist! They have this laser treatment for your gums.no pain, no digging under your gum line with sharp tools, and you'll be eating dinner that night! "
Since she was a friend, I trusted her and made an appointment.
I can tell you gratefully that my visits to Dr. Pockrass' office have not only been pleasant but I've actually upgraded my dental routine, doing great with my invisalign program, and p.s. Thanks for the foot massage too!
The office itself is clean and nice, comfortable lighting and ambiance- completely different than the cold medical feel of conventional dentistry with harsh lighting and fake "sterile" vibe they consider "healthy".
If you have had difficulties elsewhere, I HIGHLY recommend giving Transcendentist a shot. I believe you will have made a wise decision;)
The staff are all very courteous and pleasant and it is a HUGE part of the overall experience.
From time to time i enjoy the free hot tea or self serve water, and just earlier today i used my free Transcendentist lip balm they gave me (with great ingredients;)

I slept for 20 mins! I was in last week for a 1-2 hour procedure. As usual, I was made very comfortable the moment I entered and was told what we were going to do that day. After numbing, I was provided oxygen and nitrous oxide. Part way through the entirely pain-free procedure, I was offered a foot massage, which I gladly accepted.and promptly fell asleep while dental work was occurring in my mouth.

The comfort, attention to detail and real concern for your well being is present with every visit. Dr. Fred and his team are highly recommended.

Thanks so much to everyone at Transcendentist for making dental visits less stressful and more manageable for me. As a "dental phobic" I really appreciate how Dr. Fred and his entire staff help me to feel welcome, calm and as comfortable as possible during my visits. Because of their expertise and extra TLC, I'm able to make my dental health a top priority - without avoiding it as I did in the past.
