Thank you so much for your help. The hour long drive was well worth it.

I love it and I love volunteering there. Tri-County really captures my heart. What they do is Above & Beyond animal rescue. It is nurturing and making animals healthy again so they can go back to the wild and be free as they should be

I volunteered there for the first time today. It was a great experience helping the little birds. The purpose of Tri county is to rehabilitate injured wildlife so the animals can be set free healthy and happy. I highly recommend donating to and volunteering for this organization.

I found a fawn in my yard. Long story short - in two calls the condition of the fawn was not considered. I was told to wait the night for mom to return and take the fawn in the next morning if still there. I asked for help on a FB page. Rehabbers saw the pictures/videos and said the fawn was very weak in my first video right when I found him/her. They could tell by the cry and the fur that mom had not been around for at least 2 days. I followed the careful instruction from a rehabber on the FB page. I saw the sweet baby perk up for a short time but then quickly reversed until passing. I feel the fawn had a chance if I had helped sooner. Even if not, I could have made him/her more comfortable sooner rather than leaving in the sun on a day that was over 100 degrees. My wildlife questions will go to the Wildlife group on FB who were much more helpful not only while I tried to save the sweet little baby, but since the passing. The advice I received from this wildlife center was really poor and I will carry the guilt and remorse for not following my heart forever. I will not call ever again and will recommend nobody else calls, either.

Response to your reply - When I called at 3pm I was asked if I would transport. I said I would! I was told she would call me back. I said I would get a crate in the car and be ready. I got the car ready with a large dog crate, had a blanket ready to wrap the fawn in to carry to the car, I prepared my mom (she has Alzheimer’s) for the drive. Almost 2 hours later I hadn’t heard back so I called again. The woman who answered could find no record of my previous call. Nothing. She apologized and said she looked everywhere. She took my name, number and address (none was taken the first call, I thought my number appeared when I called so that would be how she would call me back). She said the person who knows fawns would call me back. I did get a quick return call this time. She told me to leave the fawn. My concerns about the breathing (panting), super skinny, crinkled ears, and not sleeping in a ball but rather a U shape were not really addressed. I was told Mom would likely return when it got dark and to be sure my dogs wouldn’t scare her away. I said that was no problem. I then went back to FB and followed the advice of rehabbers because I could tell this fawn was suffering. A little before 9pm … 6 hours after my initial call … I received a text asking for pictures. I didn’t reply right away because that is when I could tell the fawn was dying but I was still trying to comfort him/her. I don’t appreciate the focus on transport when I had said I would. I learned a whole lot from the Wildlife group on FB. Mistakes were made. Those mistakes may have cost the life of this precious fawn. Please learn from those mistakes.

Unfortunately a wild Turkey with an injured leg evidently cannot be aided by TCWC - apparently he has to endure because there is nothing that can be done for their type of bone-structure. But he is well-fed & watered - I feed the wild birds from a well-stocked feeder & have a clean-water filled bird-bath for them to drink from. He comes daily - & albeit on his own since he limps very badly, he now has a safe 'watering- hole' & is very welcome!
God bless you who give your time & expertise to wild creatures of all kinds! Thank you!
