Mexican Restaurant Tropisueno reviews
17 This is a nice, peaceful place to stay and enjoy an inspired, tasteful mexican cuisine.
My wife and I dined here several times, and have always found high culinary standards.
The Latino girls and boys of the staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and Roberto, who greets you at the front door and introduces the restaurant to the guests, is a professional plus.
Stumbled in here during happy hour. Very happy we went! Great salsa choices (spicy finally yay!), guac was good, steak tacos are a must! Margaritas were good too! Music was fantastic! Outdoor seating has heaters so we were happy:) service was friendly and efficient despite being packed!
The food was seriously the best we've ever had. Incredible service and atmosphere. A new favorite for sure!
Great happy hour. Generous portion street tacos, delicious. Good margaritas. Highly recommend!
Food, was great. Definitely worth trying.
Place was packed, and bustling. Really enjoyed the
Should be high on your list if you enjoy mexican food.
The ceviche and the Mole negro were delicious. The mole was very similar to what I was raised on, and the ceviche trio was a good choice.
Lovely place, great location, delicious food, great and lovely atmosphere and friendly service.
Visitors twice in a row and service standard were kept.
Great happy hour option in the city centre. Happy hour from 4 till 6 everyday!
Nachos are delicious and margaritas too!
I come here at least once a week. I love the food and always get the exactly same order but they change me little differently every time.
My husband’s favorite chips and salsa, very yummy tacos and great service! I would stick with the tacos - we agreed out of enchiladas and tamales the tacos were the best (we had both birria and carne asada). Highly recommend!
My husband and I came for lunch. During this time there is no table service so you order at the counter. The food was good but too spicy for me. If you like spicy food then this is great for you. I don't like spicy food and everything was spicy except for the chips and my margarita. It's a great spot if you're in the mood for Mexican food. We ordered chips, two combination plates, and two strawberry margaritas.
Get there between 4 and 5: 45pm for a happy hour. Their margarita is very tasty. My carne asado plate was also decent.
My and I are visiting from Houston and this place came up with high reviews so we decided to try it. We didn't k own it was happy hour so we were a little disappointed for the limited menu options. But the happy hour menus prices are decent and the food we did order was good. The service was ok. My husband spilled water and the waiter just stood there not offering to help clean up. We asked for napkins that never came. Our waiter didn't look happy to be there.

Came here for with a colleague. We each got an app and an entree. I got the salmon which I really enjoyed. It was moist and flavorful and a lot of food. I don’t know why I expected different because every time I’ve gotten Mexican, it’s been heaps of food…but the menu items always looks so good. And such was the case here too.
Here’s why this place lost 0.5 star for me. For a restaurant of this size, there are only 2 unisex bathrooms so there is always a lineup to go (that we saw).
I came for lunch and it was delicious, but when I came back for dinner we discovered that they won’t make any of their vegetarian options at dinner time. I don’t really understand what the point of even labeling the vegetarian food on your menu is if you don’t have any, I don’t really need a symbol to know that chips and guacamole are vegetarian, and it’s totally uninclusive and stupid to get rid of those dishes that are without anything comparable on the dinner menu. I’m not paying 40 bucks for a plate of beans and rice.
Went here for just drinks and had great time. The atmosphere was good and the place seemed very authentic. I will come back here for sure when I’m back in town.
My friend and I are visiting from Los Ángeles. We sat at the bar and had THER best time. The bartenders were so attentive and made us the best drinks. I highly recommend the Tempest (Tromba blanco, lemon juice, Chambord raspberry liqueur shaken with egg whites… think melted raspberry popsicle, but better!), La Sombra (tequila, lemon, orange, Chile tincture, cinnamon and agave), and their old-fashioned. Jesus and Carlos (the bartenders) were the best we’ve seen in SF so far.
We tried Tropisueno a couple times during our visit to San Francisco as we were based close by.
We had the chips and salsa with 3 salsas and the "old school" meal the first time: tacos and chicken enchiladas - of the two we thought the enchiladas were more tasty. The salsas were also tasty with our favourite the most spicy salsa.
The second visit we tried a "traditional" meal - pollo con mole. We thought the chicken was not as successful, it was dry and the flavour wasn't as robust as we've had elsewhere. The sides were ok but not as flavourful as we prefer. Also on this occasion the restaurant ran out of some choices of beer on tap so we each had a Corona (in a bottle, which is not as tasty).
Service was efficient but not friendly - the waiter seemed very rushed and wasn't as keen to recommend dishes which was a bit disappointing as we hadn't been to this restaurant previously. He was much more attentive when it came to pointing out the suggested minimum tip on both occasions (same waiter).
The restaurant is popular during happy hours but was quieter in the early evening when we visited on both occasions.
Overall an ok meal/s but with so many Hispanic restaurants in SFO there are lots of other choices.
