This is a great spot for a haircut. I can usually get a same-day appointment here, not only are the barbers great at cutting hair, but they are very kind and welcoming!

They didn't clean hair properly so there was hair everywhere after the haircut. They also included $4 tip without asking me! Edie (the stylist) doesn't listen or want to understand what you really want. Bad experience, overall.

So this if my 4th time getting a cut here and it has quickly become my go to spot whenever I am in Monterey. Chong is outstanding… detailed orientation and really takes the time to get the right shape of men’s cut. I put her on par if not above many of the top salons I have visited over the years.

I got a great men's medium length haircut for $25, so I can leave a tip over 50% and still feel like I got a good deal. The stylist talked to me about what I wanted and I left really liking my new haircut.

After an extensive search, I’ve finally found a stylist in the area! Edie is amazing—welcoming, professional, patient, and talented. She did an excellent hair wash—so relaxing; and gave me a super cute cut.

Bonus: the shop is clean, well-lit, and has giant windows with views of the bay, with free 90 minute parking all around.

5/5 stars— highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back.

I wouldn't come here for a long-hair cut. I'm transitioning from a mullet and asked for a bob and even that didn't seem very feasible. Had to fix it when I got home. They seem very knowledgeable with clippers, however.

Amazing! I definitely gave Chong a challenge with my hair long and thick enough for a horse mane. With precision and attention to details, she cut the dry and split hairs from the bottom of my hair and spent gracious time with my layers. I am very pleased with the outcome of my trim and the friendly welcoming energy of Tru Cuts!

I asked for a detailed haircut and bear trim. I asked the lady three times to cut my beard
1) before the haircut
2) during the haircut
3) Before finishing the haircut
She just uncovered my gown and asked me to pay… I am so confused as to why I did not get a beard trim without explanation. I gave it a 1 for bad customer service and quality of the haircut. Otherwise, the store itself is ok.

I felt very welcomed and appreciate the service.although the shop was about to close Edie let us in for a haircut. If you are looking to get your hair done this is the place to go in Monterey! Thanks Edie!

Worst hair cutting service I have ever been to. Highly unprofessional. They murdered my hair and then proceeded to make excuses for why it’s not their fault. Such as “your hair is thicker on one side” but they didn’t part it correctly at all. “your hair isn’t like the one in the picture” but it was a picture of my own hair.

They brutalized my hair.
I can’t believe I wasted my money on a haircut like this.

It’s heartbreaking how badly they ruined my hair. They are the first person to ever blame my hair for why they couldn’t cut it properly. I’m never going here again. I hope that anyone who is even considering going here for a haircut seriously reconsiders.

I went here with my mom to get our hair cut. I’m still young so if my hair gets butchered like it was after they cut it I can bounce back, but they absolutely destroyed my moms beautiful long hair despite her telling them to leave the length the way it was. Their process for cutting hair is the worst I’ve seen by far. They didn’t make my hair even on both sides or feather it at all, the bottom wasn’t even close to a straight line and they cut my bangs way too short from the get go. They kept getting mad at us for not wanting them to do what we didn’t want them to do to our hair and angrily snipping at our hair when we said we wanted to keep it long. They were super unprofessional and the finished product looked like a child cut our hair. Actually, I honestly feel like a child probably could’ve done better. My mom had to fix my hair when we got home and she managed to somewhat salvage it. Unfortunately my moms hair was beyond fixing after they destroyed it and I feel so bad about taking her to get our haircut together at this place. Neither of us will ever go here again, and I highly recommend no one else to get their hair cut here unless they want to pay $30 to get their hair butchered.

My son has been getting his hair cut at Tru-Cuts in Monterey every few weeks for several months now. He is consistently getting an amazing haircut every time, thanks to Soe! My son has very thick, curly hair that can be difficult for stylists to cut and style - but it's never a problem for Soe. She is an amazing stylist; highly recommend!
