COMPANIES SUCH AS TRUTHFINDER ARE FOR ENTERTAINMENT USE ONLY! I
I was skeptical at how much information an internet site could collect on you and so I looked up an old friend that I had known and still know today. He has been on a bad streak for some 10 years and I wanted to help him find out why he was having a hard time getting a job or getting credit.
I was really surprised at finding out that my best friend of 22 years had been in prison for 20 of those years I knew him. Ok. NOT THE TRUTH. So I looked at the other details under his name to make sure it was him. First, middle and last name correct. Age correct. Last known phone numbers, emails and addresses correct. Associates, social accounts, etc.all correct. Everything was correct. BUT then you get into the other areas and its like Truthfinder "adds" items to make their sell more interesting. They had my friend listed as a felon with 9 serious charges.and he has NEVER been arrested. EVER. These charges are so heinous that he can't get a good job, his credit is affected and his lifestyle has gone downhill.
I approached my friend with this information and he went ballistic. I would too. So far, Truthfinder (and 7 other sites such as them) have refused any contact to him, me or for that matter any legal consultant. We have approached the local and state police, the state attorney General and the the federal attorney General offices. Nobody can help. Why?
If you read the company disclaimer (and all other companies doing such business) they DO NOT adhere to the FCRA compliance guidelines and therefore are NOT responsible for representation or accuracy; specifically when it comes down to criminal history. Basically they provide entertainment. As they provide this disclaimer, they are untouchable by today's current laws. And its up to each individual who buys this information to do with what they want. As long as the disclaimer is viewable then companies such as Truthfinder are not held responsible for inaccuracies they report. It is by the way, ILLEGAL for an employer or creditor to use this information (aka Truthfinder) to use as a consumer report. If you even think an employer, creditor, etc.uses such an entertaining element from the internet, you have the legal right to procure a copy of such. We have already approached several employers and Credit Karma about this information and they were appalled that companies/creditors were supplementing there verification process with soft inquiries by this means. So far, this is the only step we have been able to take against Truthfinder, shutting down that door to access people's credit history at-will. However, we think they have approached from another direction, under another affiliate name to continue this illegal practice.
So guess what? I looked up my own name and was "shocked" at what information they provided. They knew everything short of my social security number. And I'm sure they knew it, though it would be illegal to show it. They even had private veteran information from who knows where. I am currently seeking counsel with the VA and several other entities at how this breech occurred. I am hoping that the federal government will step in and put an end to the "entertainment" sleuthing industry. I have since contacted over two dozen such sites (all are considered the top 10 people search; Check People, Check Mate, Intelius, ID True, People Finders, US Search, Deep Search Pro, etc.) and found out that they all practice unprofessional and unethical entertainment sleuthing. Every one of the top 10 people checks has a disclaimer posted on their site, most of them printed in teeny-tiny print at the bottom of their site.
SO FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE DOING BACKGROUND CHECKS, GO PAY THE EXTRA $50 AND GET A TRUSTED FCRA SITE!
And for those of you still caught in their premium scam, the only way to get out of their "monthly" contract is to cancel your card or account you entrusted to them. Your correct, this is a major scam.

Do not use this seevice. I used them for a single background check, and they continued to take more money from my acct. Magically, your acct will be changed to their PREMIUM ACCT, which allows you unlimited searches, WHICH ALLOW THEM to come back every 30 days and charge your acct. I'm not a landlord or human resource person needing to do UNLIMITED BACKGROUND CHECKS. I had the need to do ONE, AND ONLY ONE. I was very careful, after seeing their premium packages, TO NOT SIGN UP FOR ONE OF THOSE. SO, I guess only wanting ONE background check is UNACCEPTABLE to them, and your acct IS CHANGED to a premium package. I went back in and VERIFIED THAT IT WAS INDEED CHANGED. Times are tough for all businesses but to resort to this tactic is STEALING in my book.
You can see the MULTIPLE complaints filed with the BBB for the SAME THING. IF YOU DONT WANT A BUSINESS GETTING INTO YOU BANK ACCT EVERY MONTH, USE ANOTHER SERVICE.
I have POSTED MANY REVIEWS HERE, and all have been positive. NOT THIS TIME. THIS IS THEFT AND IT NEEDS TO STOP, OR HAVE ENUF PPL SHOP ELSEWHERE, WHERE THEY ARE FORCED TO STOP DUE TO A SHORTAGE OF BUSINESS. P. S. I filed a complaint with the BBB, because this is EXTREMELY regards. Steve (maps guide).

Steven is correct. This organization without your permission charges you indefinitely by placing your payment settings to "never expires". You're unable to change it manually. This organization should be investigated by law enforcement for consumer fraud. They use tricky methods to accomplish their goals. Not sure why they have to be dishonest, because they do produce useful background checks. Truthfinder never returned my call or responded to my e-mails. Contacted my credit card company to stop what I felt were illegal payments to Truthfinder. I printed copies of my evidence regarding the statements I have made in this review.
