Union Restaurant reviews
16Phenomenal Italian scratch kitchen. Everything (even their butter and ricotta) are house made. It was So worth the hour drive to eat here!
Absolutely phenomenal. Literally every single dish was fantastic, but special shout out for the torchetti pasta with pork sugo (some of the best pasta I've ever had). We tried a number of dishes, and everything was 10/10. Highly highly recommend this restaurant, great service and even better food.
Squid ink pasta is to die for. Everyone else at the table agreed. However, we were Not a huge fan of the service there. They kept telling us we needed more food for our group size and made us feel guilty for ordering too little. We ended up adding more and taking home way too many leftovers. The place is pricey, so beware when you go in. They brought bottled water to the table and it was $7/bottle! The bread is $12 and it only comes with 4 slices … difficult when you have 5 people… definitely pricey, and due to the pressure from the waitress to add more to our order (unnecessarily), I don’t think I’d want to dine here anytime soon. Maybe do takeout to avoid the service and the guilt for not ordering “enough”.
Excellent Northern Italian cuisine. Better than some of the places in NY! I was blown away by how good it is. Squid ink pasta is a must try! Pork wasn't that impressive. But appetizers (meatballs) and pasta dishes are amazing!
This is one of our favorite spots in Pasadena. Excellent Italian and as close to 5 star cuisine as you can get in the San Gabriel valley. Why did I give 4 stars and not 5? Well, let me be clear that on a couple visits early on we did experience 5 star level food and service. However since the pandemic, overall quality has gone down. Just something I can’t quite put into words but the wow factor that was off the charts when we first started dining here years ago has turned into just a “well that was good” type of feeling. To sum it up, the food is still great. Service is good. Just not as amazing as it was before. Will we continue to come back? You bet, because despite the downward trend over the last year and a half, the food is still quite delicious.l and one of the more unique restaurants in this part of town.
Small restaurant with outdoor seating.
Food was delicious. The most expensive meal was the fettuccine. Small portions so make share to grab multiple dishes and share. If you’d like a cocktail, show up a little early and order from their sister restaurant next door (pizzeria), they will come and get you when your table is ready.
I had the pleasure of eating at Union Restaurant a few weeks ago to celebrate my son’s birthday. Our server, Chase, I hope I’m remembering her name correctly, was a pro! From the moment we sat down we knew we were in for a treat! She gave us great recommendations on everything from the wine to which meals were favorites and her explanations of each item on the menu had us psyched to dig in! Union did not disappoint, everything was delicious from start to finish. Thanks for a great culinary experience and memorable birthday celebration.
I took some friends to this place thinking it was going to be great food and I was disappointed. I think their prices are overly exaggerated for what it is. The service was not good, the waiter told us the plates where sharing size, my true. Their wine list is good though and the place has a very nice location and vibe.
Very full on a Friday night had our server running to provide excellent service. Food was very tasty, but marred by our two meat dishes, Campanelle and pork tenderloin, both being seriously over-salted.
This is some of the most amazing pasta I've had in a long time. Typically I shy away from pasta out, like I do breakfast - usually I can make something equally delicious at home. This was an exception. Their spaghetti and meatballs have this smoky taste to them, almost like they have been grilled. I'm amazed at how they infused that flavor. The cacio e pepe with egg was amazing. Torchetti tasted like a lasagna - delicious. If I'm ever in Pasadena again, I'd come back.
I love this place! I was my first time here and I've never appreciated homemade butter before eating here. Everything was delicious. I recommend the pork tenderloin, the squid ink pasta, the wild mushrooms, and the bread and butter.
Happy hour is literally one hour! Head there when they open and try some stuff! Everything looked amazing including the space.
Service was excellent.
The good was great, we had caccio e peppe, panzanella, squid ink lumache, fettuccine and bread giardineiere! Each dish was very well balanced and vegetables in them scrumptiously local. If you go here, get their bread! Just get it and use it to scoop pasta sauce. It's good and this comes from a dabbling bread baker. The only complain I have why is there no espresso in a North Italian inspired place **does Italian gestures**
Fresh farm to table fare. So many choices. All so delicioso! Try the stone fruit and heirloom tomatoes, wild mushrooms & polenta, spaghetti Alla Chitara, Buccatini.olive oil cake or adventurous Semifreddo. Must go back to try other choices.
It was very difficult to find this restaurant as the outside dining area on Union is for multiple restaurants. Parking was difficult especially for a week night. While service was good both pastas were undercooked and cold. For a restaurant known for its pasta this was a disappointing experience.
Yup this is the one folks. One of the best Italian meals I’ve had in LA, everything sourced as locally as possible and made in house. The restaurant itself is welcoming and doesn’t feel snobby, just like the food. The wine list is great, they offer a chilled red if you’re into natural wine ;). My dad and I got the bread, local mushrooms, meatballs, squid ink pasta, and carbonara. Perfect amount of food, clean plates all around. Couldn’t recommend this place more, I’ll be back soon myself (apologies for the pictures I need to upgrade my phone lol)
