Mommy went there when she was a youngling and wanted to show the thing that was once in her tummy (me) the campus and woods. The woods are great and there is a ten minute path through the forest and you can see woodland animals. The dorms are very nice and same with the people. There is also some cool things near and outside the campus like when you are driving to the campus in the fields there is a cooool red sculpture and there are some nice beaches and little cafes (check out cafe Brazil because mommy worked there as a youngling). There is a lot of cool things so you should definitely check it out because I had an amazing time we only had like two hours but I could stay in Santa Cruz with all the cool things and the campus for at least a day. (written by a nine year old).

Beautiful campus, saw deer and banana slugs around every turn it seemed, and everyone we spoke with on campus was ever so pleasant. The hiking trails are explored were breathtaking and peaceful and it was fast easier to navigate than I'd anticipated

Went for a job interview here, they told me they had multiple interviews to make. They said it would be a while before they made a decision

Grad was fun except this lady who made it her job to ruin grad pics and said "I'm doing my job" and purposely got in the way.

The teachers here are mostly great-If only you could ever get in their classes. They over-enroll here so much, that, after spending 3 full years here, 12 quarters in total, not a SINGLE time was I able to get into all the classes I needed. Every quarter I ended up having to take 1 worthless filler class. Not to mention the buses run so infrequently that you'll have to watch multiple of them pass by you, filled to the brim, until you can squeeze on one to get to your class/dorm.

This is a lovely walking space along the cliffs with wide open fields. There are a number of benchs where you can rest, watch surfers and the abundant sea life.

Graduated from Merrill College in 2009. Had the most amazing instructors for Aikido and Japanese classes. Beautiful campus. Great hiking easily accessible from the dorm rooms.

Some decent choices of restaurants, and the dining hall food was great. Too many problems with bureaucracy, politics, and lack of infrastructure to support a growing student body.

I graduated UCSC in 1987. Sadly I am giving the University a one star review because of the appalling betrayal of the principles of education and learning by the UCSC administration in how they are responding to the graduate students strike.

Grad students at UCSC exercise their freedom of speech, assembly, and labor organizing to demand an end to exploitation and unsafe work conditions. A cost of living raise is a reasonable demand; everyone benefits when graduate students and all workers are given fair pay and can cover their needs for housing healthcare and raising families.

Instead of welcoming needed change and recognizing the real needs of overworked and underpaid grad students and UCSC employees, the University instead responded with mass firings, threats, intimidation, and treating the organizing students as the enemy and a danger to homeland security.

Something is very wrong at the top of the UCSC administration. Anyone considering becoming a student at UCSC should look elsewhere until UCSC can support its student workers and create a safe environment with fair pay and respect for all.

UC Santa Cruz Campus is beautiful with many redwood trees. Also campus is huge. Not bicycle friendly campus, since there are lot of climbing and downhill involved. But walking is a good exercise for students. You can see view of the pacific ocean from some parts of the campus. You will also see many deer in the campus. Great campus for nature lovers.

Be sure to note that all the positive reviews are:

A) From short term visits

B) Not from students

C) About how nice the campus looks

Guess what your actual lived experience will be, fools.

You might thing you're good, and you are, for now—but when the cards are down, get ready to see how friendly it actually is.
