BE AWARE. Urbatect promises but underdelivers. They might be ok for small projects but for big projects they fail to do a good job. I hired them to do Structural Engineering design a new 8500 sqf SFR construction, the design was specified to be ICF and SIP construction not a conventional stick build. They seemed confident they were familiar with these methods and assured me that they will engineer the building according to these standards.

I was alerted by one of their clients who I referred to Urbatect, he told me Urbatect did a terrible job to one of his projects and caused financial and emotional distress and completely messed up the project, eventually after threating a law suite they gave the money back to this client but he wasted months and has no home.

After many months and paying $41k in payments, they emailed me plans without any engineers stamp, I sent the plans to another engineer for a review and I was shocked to learn that they also screwed up my plans! Here is what he said "It appears the engineer is not familiar with requirements of building in CA and may not be familiar with construction practices in general. It appears to me that the volume of numerical output included in the design calculations is an attempt to show competency in the design but computer output is dependent on the accuracy of the input. There also is a disconnect between the designs and the
plans. There are lots of missing connections in the plans for both gravity and lateral loads. Basically these plans cannot be used and are worthless.

After several emails demanding a refund or to have Urbatect pay for a competent engineer to re engineer the plans, Eric Martinez continues to argue and refuse to do either options. All I wanted was to have a correct engineering plans but they failed to achieve this and continue to give the runaround and refuse to offer a refund or to pay for another engineer to have this fixed. I am super disappointed will take legal action soon
