Urgent Pet Animal Hospital reviews
16 Just called and talked on phone. BUT, wonderful response: picked up right away, answered all questions quickly and confidently, seems quite inexpensive for the bay area, appointments made quickly!
If needed, I'll be here above all others (tried 2 other urgent pet cares in East Bay, with bad experiences).
I received a surgery referral from VCA-Oakland for my little guinea pig. Dr. Luehman was wonderful, listened to my concerns, and took extra care of my piggie. Unfortunately, she passed away (due to complications from the surgery- a risk Dr. L well-explained to me and is common for piggies). Dr. L provided me with updates and sent over some pictures and videos they had taken while they cared for my girl. It was comforting to know that her last day was spent in such compassionate care.
I really like the fact that they will make appointments. The vet did a wonderful job on treating my cat's abscess. She also detected a faint heart murmur and advised that, due to this, she would need to use a different anesthesia.
Don’t go for an emergency. I wish we had just called oak vet and taken our dog straight there. We ended paying over 1000$ here for an X-ray and pain medicine and then was referred elsewhere for his surgery. We thought they charged 225$ which was reasonable. But we didn’t realize that charge was on top of the 800$ hold at check in that was not reimbursed very excessive.
If your idea of total pet wellness includes euthanasia as your go-to first line of defense for the "treatment" of ailment or malady then this is the place for you.
Our experience with the Urgent Pet Animal Hospital was amazing! We had a sick puppy in the morning so we called and had an appointment 4 hours later. I got to the pet hospital early and they saw us immediately. They reviewed the services and medical plan they outlined for us. Once we signed off and paid a deposit I left while they did tests, blood work and X-rays - then our puppy was ready to be picked up in under 2 hours. When they finished with all the tests for the puppy the veterinarian called and went over everything they found - she was so comprehensive and answered any questions I had, I never felt rushed.
I would recommend them to anyone - I hope we don't need to go back but if we have another emergency I know 'Jasmine' will be well taken care of.
Dr. Kulasekara is the best vet I’ve had the pleasure of taking my dog to. She is extremely knowledgeable and runs an outstanding clinic. I was worried about costs (especially because it’s the Bay Area), however my first visit there for an urgent situation my worries quickly went away. It shows she has a care and passion for what she does. Will always take my dogs here.
Our newly adopted small dog was crying in pain on a Sunday afternoon. We called a local urgent care vet near us and they said it was a 6 hour wait. They referred us to Urgent Pet Animal Hospital and when we called them they said bring her in. Dr. Kulasekara was exceptional. She sat on the floor with our dog and immediately noticed she had back pain. My dog was given an injection for pain immediately. I suspected a UTI/bladder infection so they did an urine analysis and blood work along with an x-ray. Dr. K explained all the results and was very thorough. She did have an infection so I was sent home with pain medication and 2 different antibiotics. Urine was sent out to be cultured. Overall, I would highly recommend this office. The staff were super friendly too.
The people at Urgent Pet are awesome. My Mexican rescue dog caught some kind of bacterial thing from ticks he had picked up in Baja and was miserable when I brought him in. They saw me quickly, ran some labs, and I left with medicine and clear instructions. The doctor told me he'd feel better in a couple days. He was back to himself in 24 hours. Very knowledgeable staff who love animals, as should be the case at any pet clinic. I totally recommend.
Great people, helped us with hospice care for our cat as well as our final goodbyes. Much easier to get appointments and medications than other vets. Great staff who care.
I am so grateful that a friend of mine recommended this place to me. I have a lot of vet experiences as I tend to adopt special needs / senior animals.
My own vet was out of town and the others at her office could not fit me in for a very time sensitive matters for two of my four animals. Not only did I get in for what I was thinking they had, but also discovered that one of my dogs had a bladder/ kidney infection. (In older animals it's hard to see the signs. So keep a lookout and get regular test done for older animals. Just like with old people it's more common for them)
Anyway, I can't tell you how grateful I am. They we're friendly, professional, extremely effective
Dr K is above and beyond and now one of my most favorite vets.
I'm so glad this place exists. The last thing you want to do when your pet is sick is wait around. I've come here twice and both times they were able to see my pooch right away! Dr. K and her staff are amazing—friendly, competent, communicative, and put me and my pup right at ease. It's on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. The quality of care you get here is definitely worth it.
I could not be more grateful that this place exists, serving animals quickly and thoroughly. Yesterday, my dog and I got a same day appointment after he vomited and refused breakfast. Dr. K took his symptoms very seriously and I'm so glad she did because his blood work ended up showing that he was in much worse shape than I could have expected. I think it's still too early to know how well he may recover, but I believe the immediate and thorough care from Dr. K and the staff has already significantly improved his prognosis.
My dog has a lot of anxiety, especially at vet offices, but he took to the staff quickly. As much as I hated leaving him there, I knew he was receiving necessary, compassionate, attentive care. When I picked him up last night, it was obvious from how he interacted with the technicians and from how they spoke about him that he was well cared for and comfortable.
They are the most amazing care team and with them, my dog is in such good hands! My 1.5 year old Shepherd boy normally hates the vets but he loves them!
This is the only place that takes us when our cat is in emergency, and we only waited for an hour. Even emergency hospitals have 3 hours of waiting.
Very happy with my experience here. Had a cat having digestive issues (we thought it was UTI). Was able to get in within an hour of calling. Staff was super friendly and supportive. Our cat saw Dr. K and she took ample time to walk us through all of the possible situations and treatments. Really appreciated all of the details and left feeling well informed. Kitty received great treatment and was back to her normal self within a few days. Would go back here without a doubt if there are ever any other urgent issues regarding my pets.
