USS Midway Museum reviews
18Such a giant ship is impressive. You can also get many things explained if you wish. Unfortunately, access to the bridge was surprisingly closed, so only 4*
Plan on a whole day. So much to see! The volunteer docents will put your experience of the museum over the top - so much knowledge and experience.especially the ones that served on her.
Always a great experience. Love the island tour and so awesome that it's such a large tour of the ship.
To see in person was breathe taking. What an honor to have all these brave men and women protect our country. The tour was exciting and very educational. The volunteers have extended knowledge and first handed experience on The Midway. Stand proud on the deck and Thank all those who have and still service our country. Admire their courage and strength to do for us, for our world.
A great ship and now a great museum. Sailed with her in the 7th Fleet from 89 to 91. She excelled in flight Ops in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Worth your time to visit if you're in the area.
A place with a nice view of the bay. To enter the aircraft carrier you pay a fee. There are public toilets nearby. Parking must be paid
Just fantastic! Beautiful ship, the smell is still there as it must have been 50 years ago. The volunteers are often veterans who served on the ship and are super friendly, tell many great stories and experiences and also have some humor. You can easily be there for a few hours for only $31 per person by American standards!
What a great museum on the SD waterfront. In-depth access to many areas of this incredible vessel. So glad we went. Highly recommended. Seek out the “yellow caps” - former sailors from the ship - to get their personal stories.
This was the best museum in San Diego. We thought it’ll take about 3 hours to see everything but it actually took over 6 hours! We learned so many things about history and got to see this massive warship. If you’re visiting San Diego, don’t miss out on this opportunity to see this incredible ship.
An amazing aircraft carrier to visit!
Parking is not free and can be difficult to find, even on a weekday.
A glorious aircraft carrier case showing the life of mariners and aviators on the most powerful boats US built in WW2. Excellent service and views of the Fleet base across.
A former aircraft carrier transformed into a super museum. This warship is huge and contains endless information. I spent about 3 hours to visit it. The majority of the boat is self-guided, however to visit the control tower you have to wait since they do small groups at no extra cost. The volunteers were very nice and seemed passionate about being there. I consider this place a must for a first visit to San Diego.
Very beautiful aircraft carrier, very interesting to visit, allow a minimum of 2 hours with the audio guide, very nice experience
It's a bit expensive at $31 for adults, but it gives you the opportunity to visit a huge aircraft carrier.
A place to go in Miami. I could touch my (unmet) child dreams real in front of me. An amusement park to feel a top gun. Jokes aside, great place to see how big, complicated and organised is an air carrier. The museum is getting a bit old, but the appeal is still the same. Ticket can be bought online, guides are volunteers super proud and accurate in explaining how life on board was. And finally, a broad collection of planes, helicopters and weapons can be touched and sometimes entered. A very well furnished shop with merchandise will give you the chance to bring home a nice souvenir. Tickets can be bought online. Visit takes a good couple of hours. Very interesting and definitely recommended.
From Anaheim, we took the 6am Amtrak train for two hours to arrive at San Diego Santa Fue Station. After breakfast, we walked about 10 minutes to visit the aircraft carrier Midway.
Since entry starts at 10am, I lined up at the ticket office, bought a ticket, and entered. Midway was amazing.
Wonderful experience! We were able to tour the ship as part of a reunion for the USS Dubuque LPD-8 Deck Department. Jose Castillo provided a wealth of information as our guide. Great to see the history of the ship and Navy with family, friends and shipmates. Brought back lots of memories. Thanks to all the volunteers for making us feel welcome! We will recommend the ship tour to everyone who visits San Diego. Well worth the time and money to visit this historic treasure.
