Valerie's Taco Shop - Pacific Beach reviews
19I've had plenty of Mexican food and toured my share of the 'bertos restaurants. When in this neighborhood, Valerie's has my vote and is my new go-to. The surf and turf burrito is likely my top burrito of all-time!
Not only were the cooks & cashier not wearing masks during a pandemic, but I was grossly overcharged for my burrito. I asked to swap out the meat for shrimp and got charged $4 for this. I noticed and asked about the price difference and if the menu says this replacement would cost that much more. The man working said yes, but the menu doesn’t list that. The most expensive burrito there costs $10.25 and I paid more than $13 for my order. Also- the burrito wasn’t that good.
My last visit saw two cooks and the owner not wearing face masks as required for retail establishments by the County of San Diego. My last visit was my last visit
"Best chorizo burrito in San Diego. "
Edit 4/4/2020
They changed their chorizo and it's awful. Thankfully the burrito was smaller so I didn't feel as bad throwing it out. Man I loved this place too. Was going 2x a week. But quality has been slowly declining and that horrible chorizo burrito was last straw. Never again.: (
It's such a good Mexican food shop. Small drive thru and location, but they get your food to you so fast. Definitely worth it at it's price point.
Taco shop was fast and has items of large size. Asada was great pack with meat, and roll tacos were amazing!
I had 2 beef tacos - the meat lacked a lot of flavor and was bland. The beans and rice were good.
Their payment machines are old and do not work! I tried using my debit atm and my credit card but of course both bounced. I explained to the employee that I literally have not had any issues with my cards. I have cashflow on both cards. Well what ever the reason, they did not work. But what really ticked me off was when the employee suggested that he recognized me, that I am known to have “atm cards that decline”. Insinuated that I am broke. No I am not broke. Yes, I do go there often and yes this is the first time I have this issue. But because of the terrible customer service I will never go back.
Got the carne asada burrito. It had guacamole, pico, and tons of juicy meat. My sister enjoyed her carne asada torta which also had guacamole. Is there anything better than not paying extra for guac? Yes of course but since I don't want to eat cats then in this context no, and the horchata was not overly sweet. Also had the churro but it was kind of tough to chew so will skip next time.
Was really fast service. Had a California Burrito, had to add 2 extra topping that others normally come with.
California burrito is garbage.just meat fries and old cheese.nothing else.at that the ingredients werent even fresh or good.never again.
It's okay. You get what you pay for (which is to say: modest portions of passable food), mind you; but I was a bit mystified that my co-workers seem to view it as a sordid ptomaine palace.
Great little shop. Wonderful service. Only part I wish was different is minimal in the grand scheme, and that's just having fountain drinks instead of cans. Love it though. Food was great!
For $7 I got a quesadilla that I would usually pay $13 for at some overpriced fancy spot. It was massive and very good. Very generous with the amount of meat and veggies.
The guy cooking had a great attitude as well. Definitely bookmarking this place for when I come back.
Food is amazing, and it comes at a cheap price. The service is amazing and super nice people! Open 24 hours so go any time.
Best fish tacos ever! Also the guys working are way friendly and nice. Definitely worth your money and worth the experience!
Best California Burrito for the price in SD! Add pico and extra cheese. Wash it down with an horchata if you're feeling frisky.
VERY SMALL California burrito. This place used to be good but last few times it’s been like this. Dry burrito with only meat fries and cheese. Nothing else inside.
This place was amazing forget about looks and size focus on the amazing quality of the food and friendliness of the staff operating the business. They where fast and the food was amazing i would recomend to anyone who loves tacos this is defenatly My new spot thanks again.
