We just had a horrible experience. We had a dog pass away a few months ago and we just went to rescue another one from these in educated sorry people that I have donated to for years and got denied on our application, because they said the border collie we wanted with 3 legs! Didn’t need to be an outside dog! And continued to say that most of there dogs weren’t out side dogs. They made us fill like absolute trash. And I hope nobody wast there time going there. Absolutely ridiculous.

Some of the best people you will find in the animal industry. Reading many of these reviews makes me sad because there are so many that are either not true, or are about the wrong shelter. I’m very close with the vospca and would say they definitely deserve five stars.

Wonderful people who work tirelessly to adopt a lot of animals. As with most rescues, they are really busy and sometimes understaffed, so be patient and understanding with them. They will help you find what you are looking for. They also go out of the area regularly and do many adoption events so they can save more. Now a no kill rescue too!

I would not adopt because their policy of not wanting their dogs mostly outside. I was looking for a dog for months and when I found a dog I liked we had to drive three whole hours to not even get it let alone see it. I would not adopt here.

Great place, great people with sincere, loving attitudes. They want the best and make sure their furrbabies are given solid homes with forever futures. Please spread the love and lend a hand. Supplies are always taken but hardly asked. Give them a call and see how you can help:) Thank You guys for loving the babies until they find homes.

Filled out application, made an appointment. Then was called and said they don’t have any dogs that meet our criteria because we said we would keep the dog in the backyard. So we asked to speak with manager and he said that none of the dogs they have can be kept outside? I didn’t know they only have lap dogs at the shelter, not one dog could meet our criteria. He pretty much said we were bad pet owners because we would leave the pet at home while we were at work, I don’t know how they expect ppl to pay the fees without a job. All the animal shelters and animal foundations beg for donations and beg for families to consider adopting but then make it impossible to adopt these animals. Feel bad for the dogs that get killed because places like this think death is better then being in a fenced backyard. I guess won’t be adopting, which is all the same because the fee to adopt is just about the same to buy from a private party.

I came to the SPCA to adopt a dog. I have owned a couple of dogs in my life time. I also have owned several cats at one time or another. All of my animals are treated with love and care, and are even spoiled. My cats are indoor cats, they don't roam the neighborhood crossing busy streets or wreak havock on the neighbors. My dogs, I've only owned one at a time, have never been tied to a chain in the backyard or ignored. The have stayed in the house, been taken with us on outings, loved and cared for endlessly. I sadly lost my last dog to being hit by a car. She and my son's dog had found an unknown broken board in the fence and got out. It can happen to the most protective dog owners. I is because of this the SPCA has denied me to fill an empty void in my heart and give a loving home to a dog that doesn't have one. I have supported the SPCA in the past. I will NEVER support them again. Nor will I recommend them to anyone. SPCA YOU DIGUST ME!

Update: : : we have officially adopted our fosters to keep them from being caged at almost 6 months. The receipt: $21 for clinical items. $49 for their 'adoption fee' per kitten. And all they provided these kittens outside of clinical items, was ONE can of formula. These people really are just about the money. Worst rescue organization I have ever worked with. FOSTERS BEWARE!

**ZERO Star. I have fostered for a handful of rescues for about 15- 20 years and I have NEVER had such a HORRIBLE experience as I have had fostering for VOSPCA - FOSTERS BEWARE!

My daughter was working as a kennel tech when the first wave of CoVid19 lock-downs hit. They sent her on a "temporary lay off" saying that because the clinic was closed they could no longer afford to keep her on staff and talked her into taking 2 four day old orphaned kittens home with her and provided ONE can of kitten formula. Since she was no longer working she was unable to afford additional formula for them and her requests for additional formula was IGNORED.

So I step in and provide ALL financial support to meet their physical needs for the kittens to be bottle fed for weeks and weeks, then weaned and well feed with clean litter boxes and a room of their own. We provide for ALL their needs - minus the vet items; shots, neuter, flea treatment provided by VOSPCA clinic (that is now open but my daughter still hasn't been offered her job back).

We provided VOSPCA with updated photos of the kittens on a regular basis, we even created videos and all but begged and pleaded for them to PLEASE promote them on their FB wall, since the adoption clinic was closed and then via appointment only. They only ever posted one video of them on their FB wall and so now that they are nearly 6 months old, a bonded pair, never known anything but us and our home. VOSPCA has demanded us to drop them off to be put in a cage until someone adopts them, or for us to pay the outrageous adoption fees to adopt them ourselves.

THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH BEING A FOSTER! THEY ARE JUST OUT TO MAKE MONEY AND NOT REALLY LOOKING OUT FOR THE ANIMALS.

I feel I have spent fair amount of money on them, and believe that they should at very least drastically reduce the adoption fees. One thing I do know, will never foster for them again.
