This campsite uses gas powered leaf blowers for hours. There was maybe one leaf on the road. Also, it’s the forest?

Van Damme Camp Ground is a really great camp ground. Some sites are bigger and more level than others, so be sure to check the map a pictures on the state parks websites. The bathrooms and showers are by far some of the cleanest of any state park camp ground I’ve ever been to! Like most California state park campgrounds, the showers are 4 quarters to start, and they get nice and hot! FYI - the long end of the shower valve points to the water temperature, it takes a good couple of minutes for the water to get hot. AT&T has no coverage.
Overall, it’s a fantastic place to camp!

My family and I went last year to Van Damm State Park, and it was one of THE BEST CAMPING GROUNDS I've ever been too and I've camped all my life. Gorgeous Red woods and Sequoia trees surrounding the entire park. They have a park ranger that does he's rounds at night securing the place and he mentioned to us that afternoon about a friendly skunk that lives not too far from our camp site that does it's rounds around camp sites after everybody's asleep well.
I happened to be by the fire pit getting ready for bed and sure enough here comes the most beautiful skunk I had ever seen going around searching for droppings of food and got really close to where I was sitting. He/she was beautiful but scary at the same time. That's an experience I will never forget. There were chip munks that would come out from the bushes, birds flying from above but what was the most amazing part were the beautiful trails with creeks running alongside of them. I would recommend this park to anyone in search of adventure and relaxation.

Really nice campground. It was pretty open, so depending on your site there may not be too much privacy. The sites were nice and large, with bear lockers. Bathrooms were clean and showers were quarter or token operated. There was wifi at the entrance kiosk. Also close to a town with a small grocery store

We camped at Van Damme for two nights and had a great time. The campground is kept very clean (including the bathrooms!). One thing to note is a couple campsites on the upper loop have some trees that were chopped down (I think due to the storms this past year) so there is no longer shade as shown in the booking photos. We booked two of these sites but luckily had a canopy so it worked out. We stayed at sites 62 & 64. Site 64 has room for a small tent (nothing bigger). With the two sites combined we were able to fit two extra large family tents and two 4 person tents. We would definitely stay here again but would either book in the large meadow (if with a large group) or at another site with more shade.

Nice campground. Very easy to get around. Nice bathrooms. Very pricey but because of the area it makes sense. However, for the price being paid there should be free showers. 4 Quarters for a shower which will ruin your time if you don’t carry change like me.
