I have only had positive experiences here. Look, if you are taking your dog to a vet you are going to pay and arm and a leg, but hey, you can be pretty sure you will get consistently good treatment with excellent vets at ASEC. The only downside is that VCA owns this place which is disconcerting, since the VCA on 1900 4 blocks down has a 'phone service" where you talk to someone in a different city and can't even give you directions or any information about how busy the clinic which is relevant if there is emergency. Instead at ASEC you will be able to talk to a person who works in that building and is respectful and considerate.

The Cardiologists and ER vets are amazing at this hospital (1535 South Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles). They are very skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate and attentive/ responsive. Cardiologists Dr. Barncord, Dr. Oranges, Dr. Saelinger, Dr. McCarragher, Dr. Stavri and other cardiologists at VCA Hospital provided excellent treatment to my cat (fur child), and now because of their medical procedures, treatments and efforts, my Jangles will live a longer life (without pain or discomfort). You would never know that Jangles had a medical condition because she is back to her normal self. All the cardiologists took their time to explain the tests, treatment and medications. I am very fortunate that my friends recommended VCA. I can’t thank the cardiologists and ER vets enough for saving the life of my beloved cat.

Very compassionate & caring ️ Dr. McEvilly was transparent about my cat’s condition and did everything he could to help her. Because this is a 24/7 clinic of course it will be expensive as they need to keep their facilities and staff in tact around the clock but they are by no means money grubbers.they genuinely care for the animals in their facility.

This place overcharges and the receptionist and vet were condescending when I simply asked why I was charged an extra 200 dollars. It wasnt that I didnt want to pay it. I just dont feel right paying for something when the receptionist even said they didnt why. Worst of all, they gave me the wrong prescription, which could have seriously hurt my dog.

We needed to bring our dog Leroy here for some urgent care after he was bit by a much larger dog and had several lacerations on his body. We were greeted with pretty prompt service and the staff were all very kind and informative when I called in. Dr. Kevin McEvilly took excellent care of Leroy and called me multiple times along the way to make sure I was updated and understood what was happening and absolutely put us at ease with patience and kindness. They followed up with us and gave us plenty of instructions for home care.
The price was not cheap, but I would still say very reasonable. This is emergency care on the west side, adjust your expectations accordingly.
Dr. Kevin took the time to answer all the questions I had about what he needed to do and explain the costs and why he was taking each of his actions. Worth every penny for a situation like this. Can't thank him and the rest of the staff at VCA ASEC enough for their help.

German Shepherd had to have PTLO surgery (knee) - VCA ASEC was a great choice. Cost was right in line with other estimates I received from vets all over Los Angeles (he actually had PTLO surgery on his other knee several years ago - so I have a pretty good feel for the cost of the surgery) and the team there was super professional. I've brought him in a handful of times now - always got the impression they cared about the animals in their care and took good care of him. Dr. Neimon performed the surgery, that guy is a class act.

They charged us over $500 for only parvo test and some basic setup when my puppy is dying. There is no direct medication at all,and they told me other tests are not available here(parasites, canine corona, etc. )The cost of hospitalization is $3000
per day. How can you charge this price if you cannot even offer an exact diagnosis and effective meds?Or you are only using owners‘ conscience to make profit?

A really fantastic facility. As a referring vet who sends complicated cases to this facility, all of my patients have received superb and often life saving care. They are not inexpensive but they shouldn't be, they are the top of the top referral facilities. (and they are pretty well priced anyway) This is the place to go if you need serious help for your pet. Bless them for taking care of our animals.

Unprofessional, their motto seems to be "Sorry Mistakes Happen"! Sad!

Save a life, go to another Animal Hospital!

They were great. The right place to go if you have an emergency. I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about. Not cheap, but worth every penny. They kept us informed as to the issues and made sure we knew what was happening. I'd go back there any time one of our pets had a serious issue.

Dr Somerville saved my German shepherd's life when he got bloat some years ago. It happened after hours and the first vet we went to in the valley (McClave in Reseda) misdiagnosed it as a tumor. He recommended putting him to sleep! Thank goodness we got a second opinion. When we arrived at ASEC they took one look at our X-rays and knew immediately that it was bloat. Dr Somerville untwisted his stomach and did a gastropexy. My dog made a full recovery.

I now run a home dog boarding and daycare in the San Fernando Valley. Even though ASEC is quite a ways from us, I still send clients there when their dogs need more advanced care than their regular vets are able to offer. Several months ago one of our regular doggie guests was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor. Her mom took her to ASEC and Dr Somerville removed the tumor. The dog is now cancer-free!

I wish you guys were closer to us in case we ever were to have a time sensitive emergency. I have yet to find a decent vet in the valley. Any recommendations?

Warm, compassionate, patient, and honest to our pet and us in everything they did from arrival to when we had to say good-bye to Rebel, our very special chocolate Labrador. It's never easy to see a loved pet suffer each day until we finally were told the diagnosis within 48 hours and decided to let him join the others who had crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you to the entire staff.

Usually in and out pretty easily. The only complaint I have is that the last time we were in they told me that my dogs were overweight and when I asked our regular vet she told me they were fine. We are very careful with their food so it was a bit offensive. Otherwise we've had good luck here.

They saved my cat's life (twice). She had a surgery to remove a foreign body.

Now she has CDK and they are doing great.

I was prepared to sue this place for the longest time. Then I realized it would never bring my dog back. Just go to VCA down the street.

I was referred to ASEC for an ultrasound on my dog's stomach and torso by my regular vet, and had a great experience there yesterday. They were punctual, professional, intelligent, organized, and explained everything very thoroughly. Our tech was extremely friendly and nurturing to my dog, they performed the procedure quickly, and made me feel completely at ease. I would definitely return for services.
