VCA Market Street Animal Hospital reviews
16Love the downtown location and the associated staff. A great group to work with and trust the care of our cat to.
Adequate vet, but not a place that goes above and beyond. We had a very elderly cat and they said he was too rambunctious and needed to be sedated and the appointment rebooked — no vet before or after ever needed us to do that with this cat. During the height of COVID we needed an urgent refill on some medication and they refused to renew the prescription unless we scheduled an in-person appointment because of their policies of requiring regular check-ups. I understand animal care is very complex (especially over the last few years) and the vets themselves seemed fine but the most difficult vet I've ever dealt with.
VCA Market Street offers 5 star veterinary care! Dr. Lori Hammond is compassionate and thorough, explaining everything in detail. Zaya, her vet tech is warm and attentive. The front desk team, Lauren and Suzy, are wonderful, greeting me immediately and talking with me while I waited. I live in Oceanside and will gladly make the drive to San Diego for their high level of customer service and quality vet care!
The staff are so friendly and professional. The location is amazing and the gym provides has a great vibe. I would definitely recommend it for friends.
Kind people, but routinely difficult to get answers or solutions from them about my pet's care. I'm always disappointed with their communication with me about my pet and his health.
My 5 star review is for the manager, Kyle. He literally went out of his way to get our boy Baboo his medication. Healthcare in the US sucks for both humans and pets. Humans at least can voice their pain, but pets can not. I appreciate how he attended to be getting upset and even getting back to me after an hr when he said he would. Thank you, Kyle.
I was a regular here until today. I had a vaccine booster scheduled 2 weeks ahead for my pup and the morning when I arrived to the office the check-in person inside tries to tell me that they cancelled my appointment with out saying it. She says they “called multiple times and your mailbox was full”, completely not true. And then she proceeds to tell me that “ You might need to wait a while” outside because of the situation when a pair of other people just walked right in after me. I wanted to be understanding and asked her for an estimated wait time for my appointment, she refuse to give me a range, like it may be all day or the fact that she cancellled my appointment and doesn’t want to tell me and decided to leave me and my pup waiting outside for hours in the hot summer day. I was an current client with my animals here and this is not an acceptable treatment to anyone who just want care for their pets.
I was so upset the way the person talked to me and decided to just walk away after the call. I dont think i can trust this place if they can’t even give me an idea with their situation on scheduling, where is the transparency? They obviously didn’t care or just the fact that this Susie lady is just not a good customer service person. Why would you tell someone who is already arrived for their scheduled appointment with such hesitance and show so much uncertainty when it is a simple routine appointment previously scheduled and confirmed?
I am not coming back here with my animals.
They reached out and got me an appointment for my cat. I’m very pleased with the response from management
I was super scared going in today with my baby girl Luna and not being able to be with her is more nerve wracking, but they all made me feel at ease and that they truly cared about my girls well being, I am grateful and appreciated them so much.
I initially had some customer service issues whilst scheduling, however the manager Kyle personally called to resolve it. VERY impressive customer service. As for the pet care, really top notch - I originally switched to VCA Market Street from another Vet who was not able to properly diagnose or treat my cat's issue - these guys sorted it out quickly. Highly recommended both for service and veterinary care. Personal thank you to Kyle!
I've had my dog for 10 years during which she has had vets in La Jolla, North Park, and more recently in Hong Kong. Out of all the vets I've had VCA Market Street stands hands and shoulders above the rest. Firstly, they are an incredibly organized professional organization. Secondly, the staff throughout have exceptional customer service skills. And finally, you get excellent treatment for your dog at a price that you know is fair. Wonderful organization. I'm just sad that I can't find such a vet in my current city.
If you're looking for an AMAZING vet, look no further. The entire staff is the wonderful! Always taking great care of our pets and answering any questions/concerns we have. Whether its a simple check up or a serious concern, bring your fur babies here.
Hands down the best Vet in SD! I feel so secure with them, so professional and convenient! Even theough covid, they are so easy and on top of it! I LOVE this Vet! Very Happy! And so is my Hammy!
Doctor pretty much gave up on my cat just because he became fearful after the doctor wanted to heavily pet him and compliment how nice his fur was instead of inspecting what brought him there in the first place. He wanted to sedate him just to clean his ears. They wanted to charge me almost 400$. My cat isn’t aggressive whatsoever and was kind to the technicians that came after the doctor. I expressed that I couldn’t afford to do that and they instead gave me medication to treat my cat myself, all for about 54$ (medication plus exam). I probably won’t be going back to this place again. I think they’re better fit for dogs.
My husband and I are very thankful that we switched from our previous vet clinic to VCA Market Street. We have been with VCA for about a year and a half now and they have gone above and beyond in their care for our two fur-babies. Their bedside manner is one to be admired by all vet professionals and the administrative staff is attentive, professional, and all around fantastic. I would recommend any pet owner to take their companions here!
Brought my dog here because he is in pain. They suggested their “senior best care” package because it would “save me money“ even tho a lot of the services weren’t needed. Lol. And now $1400 later I have nothing but a bunch of inconclusive test results and my dog is still sick in pain. Icing on the cake for me wasn’t the staffs incompetence or inability to figure out whats wrong with my dog, it’s the attitude the Dr. Batista gave me when I questioned her about the services and results thus far. Take your dog here for an annual check up but if something is really wrong with your dog, I suggest you go elsewhere.
