Veggie Garden reviews
14When I heard of this completely vegan Chinese restaurant - I had to try! They have a pretty extensive menu. I got the Hunan Tofu (with soft tofu) and seasonal vege dumplings and they were absolutely delightful. I know I'll be returning for more!
This is my goto Vegan Chinese restaurant. It tastes like home made. Also my son has food allergies to dairy, gluten, msg, sesame, msg, oat, eggs, and nuts… and Veggie Garden is able to accommodate him. Try the Singapore style noodles, chow fun, braised green bean, Thai coconut curry and vegetable delight.
Really excellent Chinese food, tastes very authentic. You wouldn’t really notice at all that it’s vegan. I recommend the fried stuffed tofu with black bean sauce, black pepper ‘beef’, and the tofu and eggplant.
Since we humans are on the top of the food chain and it took us thousand of years to get there, I have always thought that turning vegetarian where a mistake except for a medical condition BUT, I want it to see by myself what a vegetarian restaurant has to offer so I walked into this Chinese Vegetarian place.
It was about 18: 30 Hrs and the place was empty so I explain the waitress that it was my first experience with vegetarian cuisine and I need it recommendations. She didn’t care much about my request and brought me the menu. She pointed out a couple of dishes telling me “they where popular”.
To be in the safe side I finally order the same thing I always order at a Chinese restaurants: Mongolian beef and a side of rice (because I know for a fact Mongolian beef doesn’t come with rice!) Haha.
The food was ok but I couldn’t help to think what those strips of “meat” I was eating where made of, I didn’t ask.
I was in the middle of the meal when another waitress brought me the check (?) I told her that I didn’t ask for the check because I was still hungry. Without apologizing she brought me the menu again. Then I order a classic: spring rolls.
Here it comes the good part: the waitress again brings back the check BEFORE the spring rolls where served! (?) I told her it was very impolite and rude to do that! She grabbed the check and left visibly upset.
Conclusion: if the service where up to standards I’ll go back for tofu but…. I don’t think so.
Also, I have no idea why this restaurant is rated so high … that is confusing!
.
I’ll start out by saying great portions but unfortunately the only objectives I have against VG was an excessive amount of sugar in our dishes along with over battered pork.
Perhaps we caught them on a bad night, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Ordered:
Pineapple fried rice with tofu: 3/5
Tofu stir fry: 2/5
Food was pretty meh, and pricey for what it offered, not very flavorful.
Everything was delicious. All of the dishes in the menu are vegetarian or vegan. Definitively will come back.
The experience here from start to finish was pretty odd, and the service was bad. Menus weren't brought to us for a long time, they apologized when they eventually gave the menus to us. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other table, but everything was slow. We weren't checked in on at all during the meal. When we ordered, the waitress was very confused and unfamiliar with the menu. I assumed she was new, but then we received the same confusing service from all staff. We were randomly brought French fries that we didn't order, and then that kept happening with various other menu items
The veggies in all the dishes were cold and tasted watery, unseasoned, and like they had been frozen. Scallion pancakes had no scallions in them at all. Basil eggplant dish had no basil at all. Smoothie wasn't blended properly: all ice at the bottom, and only a super sweet watery liquid would come through the straw. It tasted like the same overly-processed sauce was on every dish, nothing felt fresh. The kimchi rice was a good menu item, but it didn't really taste like kimchi. Just seasoned rice.
Appetizer and drinks were brought out after we finished everything. A staff member tried to argue with us when we wanted to send something back. When we paid and thanked them, they didn't say a word to us or even look in our direction, and didn't give us a customer copy of the receipt.
Bring very hesitant to try anything vegan I was positively amazed on the quality level and deliciousness of their many food options. Yin the server provided my daughter and I with warm welcoming and would always check in with us. Highly recommend this extraordinary delicious vegan food place.
Amazing vegan restaurant in mountain view. Have been there couple of times. I mostly have green curry, this time thought of something different which was nice too. Tried black pepper chicken and kimchi fried rice. Wonton soup is okay honestly, good to skip. Tofu fries is decent. Service is pretty fast. They directly serve is Togo boxes even if you dine in. Plenty of parking space. Friendly service
A lighter, vegan take on Chinese takeout. Wonderful. You’re served on paper dishes, which is weird at first, but the food is fresh and tasty and you stop noticing after a minute.
Excellent place. I am a non vegetarian but the taste over here is superb.
Awesome staff. Nice heathy tasty place with courteous staff
My favorite Chinese in the area! Great taste, fast / nice service, good value. Vegans and non-vegans alike in my friend group are always excited to order from Veggie Garden!
Highlights for me are the General Tso and the Black Pepper Chow Mein, but everything I've tried has been worth getting again.
This is my goto vegetarian restaurant. They are accommodating for gluten free and all the other allergens. Food is very good. Highly recommend the orange chicken, thank green curry, and the green beans.
