Velvet Grill & Creamery reviews
21I'm sure my overall score is quite confusing. The food: Delicious. The service: Excellent. The atmosphere: Pleasant. Now my issue is there was a cockroach crawling down the wall above my grandbaby's head. We immediately got up from the table, and only 3 of 6 had already finished our meal. When we told one of the waitresses of the situation, she just said she would tell the owner. They offered no form of discount, and I don't even remember hearing an apology. 4 of us had planned to planned to get ice cream, but we'd all lost our appetite. I know for certain I won't be going back. I understand that in this industry, these types of critters are likely to come around, and this past Spring with all the rains means more critters. They need to be spraying more regularly. You have to do more than clean. You have to have preventative steps in place.
The food was amazing! The wait staff was even better! Rachel, our waitress, was very friendly and aattentive.
Service good. Breakfast good. The price was not. We’ve been meaning to try this place for so long and the prices shocked us. I know everything since 2020 is more expensive but these prices were disgraceful. Over $4 for a single egg. The French toast came with nothing on the side and was over $12. If you want a full breakfast for 2 you’re paying over $50.
The burger was really good. But the banana split was terrible. It was melted when it got to us. Only a little bit ice cream, hardly no nuts, or caramel. Too bad there’s no where here to post photos. This was located at the Modesto Velvet Grill.
Was brought here as a child by Grandmother and remember getting the bubblegum icecream. In my 20’s & 30’s I brought my elderly Grandmother here. She always got the same thing: Reuben sandwich & an Arnold Palmer. Many fond memories here and the staff was always so nice and patient with my Grandmother who suffered from demenita. Having these safe places is extremely important for our aging citizens & family members who need a elderly friendly environment. Good food too!
I love everything about this restaurant, the food, the waitresses I have eaten here almost everyday I haven't came across anything I hate yet. I just wish I could take this restaurant back to Utah with me
The one on McHenry is the bomb everything was good a little pricey but well worth it the other one I wouldn't bother going there again
Went there for a wrestling tournament. It was nearby and the food was really awesome. Service was pretty fast and friendly definitely.
This place, in my opinion, has the best pancakes. Made with oat flour, they are filling and tender soft. Delicious.
I've lived in modesto my whole life and I always thought this was a place for older men and women but decided to try the breakfast and I'm so glad I did. I'd have to say that this is easily top 3 breakfast places I've gone to. Amazing food forsure! I'd recommend everyone try the French toast.
We both had the Ruben sandwich. Good, but bread was soggy on the bottoms. Still tasty and the service was good.
The hashbrowns tasted funny. I didn't eat much of them, which I never do because I love my potatoes in any form.
Had the worst experience this Sunday afternoon! Our party of 8 waited for almost an hour as others were seated before us with parties similar in size even though we were ahead on list. When we inquired the waitress was very short with my daughter then the owner/manager came out and began to outright be disrespectful to her. He then told her that she and her 1yr old daughter could wait outside in the rain if she didn’t like it. A fellow waiting customer interjected and said “You don’t have to talk to her like that” at which the owner said “F_YOU! You can go outside too! We don’t need your kind here anyway “. It was then we realized both of our families were Latino! “Our kind” WOW! We’ll spread the word “OUR KIND” (Latinos) are not welcome at Velvet Creamery in Modesto. Needless to say both of our families left mad and embarrassed, and went to a place that did except “Our Kind”. Your loss Velvet, Your loss
Great staff that is quick to help - very accurate orders with fresh food consistently. This is a local favorite and recommended.
Great selection with a wide variety. Our group enjoyed the steak Croissant sandwich & smothered chicken. Delish!
My family and I had brunch here and first thing we had noticed, Our forks and spoons wer not properly cleaned (food still on our silverware) 3 of us got really sick from this place! First timers too. And service wasn't that great.
Ordered the 8 piece chicken dinner over the phone. When I got there to pick it up they informed me they were put of legs so they gave me a thigh. Legs are my kids' favorite part. And now it's a 7 piece. In the car I could smell that something was burnt. When I got home I saw that it was my 7 piece chicken giving off the burnt smell. It was clearly overcooked. Then I go to make plates for my family and the mashed potatoes are cold. I live 10 minutes from the restaurant and the potatoes were COLD COLD.not room temperature, cold. Had to bust out a pot and reheat them for the family. I heard great things about the broasted chicken from the Velvet Grill but I guess I went on the wrong night.
Loved all the waitresses, had an ice cream delicious loved every
Thing about this place!
Good food at an affordable price, the waitresses are friendly and attentive. You have to try their oatmeal pancakes there amazing!
Second time coming here, first time was a few years ago. The servers were nice and welcoming. The service was good aside from the fact we had ask and wait on sugar as our table seemed to be the only one without some. The food was ok. For the price though, it could be better.
