Can't say enough about their amazing service, compassion, and expertise. They saved my new pup from death. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. The folks that work there are the best.

My syrian hamster injured his foot and was exhibiting erratic/strange behaviors over the weekend. So I sought immediate help at the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) after finding them online. Their swift check-in process and prompt attention to my hamster really helped alleviated my stress.

During the examination, my hamster bit Dr. Cain, which caused her profuse bleeding. Regardless, Dr. Cain carried on, and made sure my hamster was properly examined. Dr. Solomon was also extremely helpful - she answered all of my questions to the best of her ability.

Despite the lack of a dedicated rodent vet, VEG went above and beyond to thoroughly examine, medicate, and sedate my pet for X-rays. The whole visit involved at least 7 staff members for a little hamster.

While the process took hours, it reflected the team's thoroughness rather than inefficiency. Although a hamster does not cost much, VEG made sure they did everything they could to give him the proper care.

Sadly, there's no good treatment for my hamster's dislocated foot given his small size and vulnerability. Nonetheless, I am very grateful for VEG's dedication.

VEG is absolutely amazing. I can’t imagine how difficult their jobs are every day, yet they treated us and our dog Charlie with such love and compassion. Unfortunately our dog didn’t make it, but we could not have been in a better place. Charlie received the best care possible. Dr. Kim and Enrique, thank you for trying to save our fur baby.

VEG Encinitas is an EXCELLENT emergency vet clinic. I cannot say enough about the way they work. Efficient, compassionate and outstanding care all around from vets to techs and housekeeping staff. You are immediately seen, immediately put at ease, communicated with throughout and allowed to stay with your animal at all times and to assist if needed. My dog is a large guardian breed. He does not fit in a crate! He was given his own sofa to lay on comfortably! This last visit was my third and each time the experience has been wonderful. I will never go anywhere else and am so grateful they are there to make stressful emergency ER visits so caring and positive. I wish human ER's would follow their lead.

My mother brought her dog here and the staff treated her with such kindness. From the receptionist to the Dr. I am extremely impressed. Thank you for everything, your kindness did not go unnoticed.

VEG - is the best emergency vet clinic I have ever been to and I have owned pets for over 30 years. They are kind and caring in addition to being a great medical staff. An amazing option during difficult and scary times with our beloved pets. I would never go to any other clinic for my emergency needs. Dr Mortimer and Shapiro are huge stand outs for me.

This place is completely different than
most vet ERs in a great way! The animal is triaged immediately upon arrival and you stay with your pet in the huge treatment area the whole time. There were 2 doctors and 10-11
techs on duty. I saw emergency treatment of a near-drowning (dog)
My dog was just there for eating a sharp plastic squeaker, and they induced vomiting, found the squeaker
plus half of a stuffed moose that definitely would have caused a problem. The doctor was confident
and empathetic and my dog had no fear. Clear aftercare instructions and precautions. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

This place is by far the best emergency vet care I’ve ever received. I’ve had a ton of animals and they go the extra mile. I love their floor layout so you can watch your pets care throughout every stage. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and awesome to work with. Highly recommend this place, I will never go to another emergency center again except here.

These vets go above and beyond! They care they are patient, they try to help you find ways to make the care possible. They involve you in the care. Best vets I’ve ever been to

I want to like this place and I'm sure they give good care over all.
I've waited a year and a half to write a review because just the thought of this place brings tears to my eyes!
I won't go into detail or name names but the Vet we saw wouldn't listen and didn't want to waste time looking into probable causes for my dogs SUDDEN illness, and after running blood work she casually said we should put him down.
It wasn't till days later that I realized that the Vet never listened to a word i said regarding my dogs day to day lifestyle and overall health.
Going back thru all of her comments, even after she killed him, it's evident that she thought what she was seeing was his day to day health.
I tried many times to point out that this illness happened like a light switch 2 hours earlier. She wouldn't hear it.

Now what really bothers me is I was told by the front office staff that the Vets do a follow up call when a pet is put to sleep. I not only never got one but when I called them 2 or 3 weeks later and asked to speak to my Vet they said "we are surprised to hear she never called you, we will have her call you shortly".
That was a year and a half ago and still no call.

Excuse away her behavior all you want but just hope your loved one never needs her when something happens.
I would like to say never use them bit I'm sure it's as good as any and that day my 19 year old Vet had her mind on something more important.
I have never hated anyone in my life, until now.
My best fiend deserved more then a glib glance!

We came in absolutely scared and panicked but we were seen right away and the doctors and nurses couldn’t have been more amazing or accommodating during our long stay.

I seriously cannot recommend this hospital enough! I have 5 dogs & 1 cat (another that recently passed), and unfortunately, I've needed to take my pets to an ER a lot recently. Every single time I've been there, my pets have received absolutely excellent care! The wait is always much less than other ER's, the vets are compassionate, understanding, knowledgeable, and go above and beyond. The techs/assistants are friendly and very helpful, and it seems that everyone who works there truly gets along and works well together. All of this is a big reason this is my go-to ER for my pets, but my personal biggest draw is the fact that you can choose to be a part of everything that is done in regards to your pet. You are in the back with the vets, you can watch everything they do (if you want), you can stay with your pet for days if they need to be admitted and you don't want to leave them. One of my dogs had to stay in the hospital for 28 hours, and they set up a room for me to stay with her with cushions, blankets, etc.and made it feel as comfortable as it could be. I've always hated having to leave my pet in an ER if they need to be admitted, as well as not being able to be in the back with my pet while having procedures done, and I can do all of that here! I can't express how much that means to me! I would pick VEG over all other ERs in San Diego, no questions asked! THANK YOU, VEG, you're truly doing it right!

These folks are so caring and knowledgeable. When the X-rays came back positive, the whole team cheered for the great results. Our cat Lulu received spectacular care and the staff even made sure I was okay during an emotional visit. You can tell that everyone has respect for each other, and the environment is all about compassion and superior care.

We brought our frenchie in after she got really bad hives and they led us to the room/ER right away with no time wasted. The veterinarians/nurses/staff were so nice, kind, and made us and our dog feel much less in panic. Overall experience is great and we’re glad its a 24/7 place!
