The management company currently has a class action lawsuit against them for malicious business practices. So that should tell you what it's like to deal with them.

During our time living here, we had mold and water damage from the unit above us leaking. They offered to put us up in a horrible motel down street while they fixed it (which wouldn't work for us because we have a pet) and then proceeded to drag out the repair process much longer than they originally stated. They didn't bother to update us that it wasn't done when we arrived back. They used dangerous chemicals that we had to be out of the unit during, so we had to work around their schedule.

WiFi is absolutely horrible in all building and there are CONSTANTLY spectrum guys on site fixing issues. When I called them, the technician that arrived said this place is infamous for having incredibly outdated infrastructure and that the management company refuses to spend money to update it. He proceeded to show me a picture of the roof and the absolute jungle of wires that he has to deal with. He told me plainly that it is one of the worst buildings their technicians have to work on.

Moving out was the worst part. They will do everything in their power to keep your entire security deposit regardless of how much you clean or how well you kept the unit. The carpet had an 8 year life span which was up a few months after we moved out, yet they tried to tell us that we damaged the carpet and had to pay for full replacement. They told us that all of the walls needed to be repainted because we tried to paint over them (which we did not do). They even tried to tell us that we owe MORE money than our security deposit, but after we complained and pushed back, they decided to settle and say the security deposit is enough. Best part is, this happened to 2 other neighboring units we knew.

Don't live here.

Sharing my experience with Villa Monair and its recent changes. I moved in during March 2021, drawn by their initial responsiveness and helpfulness, particularly Beatrice's professionalism. She made my first solo move comfortable by providing information and support.

The first year was fine—minimal disturbances and manageable issues except for recurring clogged garbage disposal. However, the gym was notably subpar, with an incident of poor cleanliness management and Ruby arguing with me that they had cleaned it when there were still sweat puddles left by a man running barefoot in a sweat suit on the treadmill. I ended up just getting a gym membership because I got tired of emailing the front office that the gym was out of wipes.

My second year turned into a nightmare due to a shift in management after Beatrice left. The new team's attitude was unwelcoming, with instances of disrespectful behavior. I went into the office one morning as I looked to renew my lease, and Lauren looks up from her desk, glares at me and asks "What do you want? " vs a simple good morning. Communication became difficult, and the environment felt unwelcoming. Mind you- I had never once been late on rent and kept my place clean. I was a good tenant.

There were two significant incidents that epitomized the decline: a confrontational encounter with a Spectrum technician and an intrusive maintenance incident. Jessica and Lauren seem more concerned about profit than residents' well-being.

The first incident involved Spectrum's response to building-wide WiFi problems, leading to them berating me and verbally abusing me. They continued to knock decorations off my wall, and yelled at me when I told them to provide me a heads up so I could take them off. Then the last day when they should have been escorted into my apartment by a VM staffer- which VM told me they'd do to cover their tracks- they demanded access and entered anyway. Mind you, I am a 27 year old woman living alone at this time. None of this would have happened if VM actually had decent WiFi.

The second incident revolved around a supposed leak below my apartment. The management's handling was invasive and unsympathetic, causing distress and anxiety. Their lack of consideration for my schedule and mental well-being was evident, tarnishing my view of the place. Any person with common sense would have shut the water off and addressed the issue in the morning. The plumber yelled at me when I asked for an update. I hid in my bedroom. They stayed at my apartment until 9pm, and left it a total mess after telling me I was preventing them from "doing there jobs" by simply asking when they'd be finished with a repair that shouldn't have had to take place that night.

Upon moving out, my disillusionment with Villa Monair was complete. The once vibrant community had transformed into a transient space, with recurring rent increases and deteriorating amenities. Their laundry facilities and gym remained consistently out of order, and issues like a broken barbecue persisted. This departure from what was once a welcoming and supportive environment has left me disheartened, as I faced unexpected move out charges and witnessed the decline of a place that once held promise.

In essence, my experience at Villa Monair, which initially began on a positive note, eventually unraveled due to management changes, unaddressed issues and a lack of consideration for residents' well-being. The sense of community and comfort that initially defined the complex gave way to a feeling of disillusionment and indifference.

I asked for the reparation of my sink for days and it's still not fixed. This is disappointing.

I've lived in this apartment complex for over 5 years. They do not fix anything. They raise your rent 10% every single year and make you beg for any kind of repair. They also make you verify your employment and income every year. The only reason I haven't moved out is because the prices now are insane. Don't waste your money. The property management is garbage

Aloha,

We Moved into Monair Apartments in December 2019, almost 2 years now! Me and my pup MAVERICK Wow time flys, and I really have enjoyed living here. Lauren was our original leasing agent and she was professional and patient while looking for a place to call home and she helped us find the right apartment.

The other tenants in the building are friendly and, it’s super
Dog friendly and even has a dog run which was perfect for
My pup. This place even had a hot tub and 3 pools! Where
Can you get a place like that in San Diego? No where!
Lastly, the gym was a huge factor for me and it also had that.

Overall, I’m very impressed by the professionalism of the staff here, the amenities are
Great and you can’t beat the price.

Thank you Monair Apartments for the beach lifestyle without having to pay double
For beach prices:)

Mahalo,
Brandon Mulholland
