Village Sewing Center, Santa Rosa CA

The store in Ukiah and in Santa Rosa have the best quality merchandise that is needed in the quilting industry. I have bought 2 sergers and three different sewing machines that I just love from Lisa in Ukiah who knows her machines and was very helpful in my search for what I wanted. I now have traveling machines, and the others are in different locations. I have had my older sewing machines in for service, and Dave, the repair technician, is wonderful and knowledgeable. Thanks to all that have helped me be happier in my old age and getting me back on track.

While I was not happy with the price of the part I had to buy earlier today, I had a very quick response from the store with a good explanation about why the part was so expensive. Thanks John for reaching out to me.

I was recommended to try this place and now I love it too, they did a great job on my older Bernina and my 1930s featherweight. Very reasonable rates, super helpful and knowledgeable, fast, and so pleasant to work with.

They focus on quilting with material, machines, repair, and experience. Repair takes a week or two.

The fabric is beautiful. Great quality, the employees are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. John in service is very honest, and Great at servicing the machines. My Mom just bought a brand new machine, and they were very patient with all the questions, calls and visits. They are a great place to visit and shop.

Excellent repair service, quality fabric (quilting) selection, and of course sewing machines. Courteous, knowledgeable owner and staff. And now they are even carrying a few high quality knits. Since I am mostly a garment sewist I am appreciative!

The repair department is excellent. John and the staff go above and beyond to provide customer service. I would never consider going anywhere else, especially for machine service.

Village Sewing Center has a nice selection of good cotton fabrics. The staff are friendly and give good advice. I’ve enjoyed taking classes here too.

How about a TEN * * * * * * * * * * star review! If I could, I would tell the world about how amazingly giving John is.lest that be the impetus for customers to come for "entitlements. " John has touched so many lives with his compassion and generosity, including mine! I was a professional seamstress for a bridal shop for over 20 years and many years ago when my Husqvarna 990 motherboard went out, John gave me a brand new "loaner" until the motherboard could arrive from Sweeden. Since that machine I have purchased a surger and three other Husqvarnas; 1+, Designer 1 and a Ruby. Each machine advancement has been combined with free classes and constant support of machine and software. John was even able to repair and restore an early 1900's hemstitcher that was given to me. Oh, the hundreds of flannel baby receiving blankets I have edged with that!

Village Sewing Center organized a compassionate service project to make and collect probably at least 100 quilts to send to Japan when they suffered the devastating tsunami several years ago. In addition, more recently, Village Sewing Center was granted "essential status" when Covid invaded our existence. His store was available for purchase and gifting of necessary items for mask making and for thousands of masks donated and dropped off for distribution. He and his staff worked LONG hours, especially John and the repair tech in repairing machines brought in so the community could sew masks.

Suffice it to say that John and the Village Sewing Center are on the top of my list.not only as a business but as people of personal integrity, concern and compassion.

Whenever I have problems, questions or in need of ideas and creativity, Jackie (now retired) and crew are ALWAYS "on call" whether it be in the store or on the phone. They are very well educated and experienced in their field and trade; their classes are SUPERIOR!

In my mind it's not the store (well they ARE the store) it's the people, John and his staff, who make a difference in peoples' lives. My life is richer, more rewarding and fulfilling, with passions fulfilled, because of what they do to encourage those things. They ROCK!
