This was the first time I’ve experienced blatant racism in San Diego, I won’t go into details but the manager was racist to me and my brother for being Mexican. It’s literally Christmas Eve

I like to shop at Vons. Good value for money. But I wish Vons will have large grapefruits for my favorite breakfast treat. I only found small ones.

Clean store, friendly staff, and I find myself completing my shopping faster here than at most other locations.

Vons is a great shopping experience always. Not the least expensive grocery but selection and quality is above average.

I needed flowers for a baby shower and the floral dept was able to accommodate my last minute request! They were so helpful! And in the deli area I ordered 3 fruit platters. I realized I didn’t have room in my fridge after I placed my order for pickup the next day, so I called to pick up the next morning. They were just finishing when I showed up as they waited to add fresh cut fruit that morning! The platters were a hit! Vons help take the stress out of having to do this all myself!

Very clean good prices and no fuss about codes or locks to the restroom if you need to go while shopping! Kudos Vons

It's my supermarket.sometimes the produce is a bit under ripe. And inflation is making prices ubearable.

Love the produce section. We come for the wide assortment of fresh greens, veggies, fruits. They have very competitive prices in all their departments.

Nice shop with friendly people. They rent MTB too. Nice gear for sale. Very close to Penasquito canyon for riding.

Google recently asked me to update my review, and I realized things haven't changed. My original review:

The only thing this store has going for it is proximity to my house. The produce is often spoiling or not fresh (look at the tomatoes, bell peppers, or romaine lettuce), they're often out of items for weeks (cotija cheese) or have expired items on the shelves (gorgonzola cheese). We've even had cases where we bought something, got it home, and found it expired sooner than the same thing we bought last week (they fail to rotate stock properly). There just seems to be a high degree of not caring.

Beware of this extremely racist employee Santiago who will accuse anyone that is ethnic of stealing groceries and bags and continue to taunt you because of the pigmentation of your skin. Santiago did not even view my receipt but was quick to start making a ethnic female customer (who is responsible for giving him a PAYCHECK uncomfortable)
This was reported to the general manager, Ms. Navado.

Additionally, there are multiple reviews of ethnic females reporting the same racial discrimination at this same store location. It appears that all the Vons Carmel. Valley employees are trained this way.

In 2022 this illegal act is unacceptable!

Love how friendly everyone is here. I'm from Chicago visiting here and Idk if it's the ocean or Cali people in general but god bless this state and shopping at Vons made me smile. Open up on Chicago please, but bring your people ha ha for we do not get this where I'm from.

Disappointed in the bagging. I brought two disposable bags but was not paying attention and they used three additional plastic bags. I was easily able to fit everything in my disposable ones. Unreasonably wasteful.

Racially profiled here all the time…

Today at 11: 50 am I was in your store and as I was checking out I felt a hovering presence, looked over to see the self check out attendant was watching me closely (older slender white gentleman and I believe he was wearing glasses). I asked him if it was necessary for him to be standing so closely and staring at me and he chuckled and said that’s what they pay me to do. HE DID NOT MOVE. No respect for my experience or attempt to set a boundary. A few moments later, I looked around and there were 2-3 other people checking out while he was still hovering and closely watching me and I pointed that out to him and noted the area where most of the attendants usually stand and only then he agreed to give me the needed space. As a successful black business owner who lives only blocks from this store it is frustrating to shop here and experience your staff treat me like I am more likely to steal than the other customers checking out. I was profiled with a friend on MLK day and almost posted then. It is always hit or miss if I am going to be treated equitably at this location. I have never perpetually experienced this type of profiling at any another Vons location and I’ve been shopping at Vons for most of my adult life. Please get your staff some diversity and inclusion training. I understand that bias can be unconscious and people may not always be aware of what they are doing so at the very least encourage your staff to respectfully respond when a customer is expressing a concern or need no matter what color of skin they have.

Raising the price of gallon of milk to $5, and marking it "on sale" for more than the old price is manipulative. Response to comment: Costco, Target, even most quick stop gas station stores now have better prices on milk. Your charging organic milk prices for regular store brand milk. Yes, please check your competitive prices again. Until then I'll Instacart from another store.
