Wagon Wheel Crossing reviews
7Part of Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, Wagon Wheel Crossing is one of the few areas where there is easy access between the North and South sides of the creek owing to the bridge over the water. A great place to mountain bike and Hike and explore the natural beauty that used to be all over San Diego. Nearby, there is a historic ruin of an old Adobe farmhouse. Not much to see, but history none the less.
Popular running trail in PQ canyon. Occasionally washed out after it rains.
The Boy Scouts have recently rebuilt this bridge and have done a decent job; however, I'm not quite sure this new bridge can survive the next El Nino flood. If two people cross at the same time, the bridge gets pretty bouncy and wobbly.
Paths could have been a little more clearly marked, but it's a great little (easy) hike and would be great to do with young children!
Awesome area to hike in, especially in the springtime. Watch out for snakes, bikes, and horses though. And although I've never seen one in this spot, I know coyotes are in the area, so be mindful around dusk. Look for deer too though!
