Ramen Restaurant Waraku reviews
16Nice place for tasty broth, and I was surprised by the beef over. The Ramen was and since broth flavor is 95% of Ramen, the food is worth the wait. For those that like casual experiences.
I was on the impression that it would be more variety on their menu. Unfortunately we were very tired of looking and trying to find parking but by the time that we walked blocks away from this place to get here we just gave up and sat down to eat
DX Black Tonkatsu ramen was very rich similar to many good ramens I’ve had, and this had a little extra garlic kick to it.
Our karaage over rice was crispy and packed with flavor. Presentation on the bowls and ramen were creative and on-point too.
I really appreciate the modern setting and ever so-slightly lower prices than restaurants in the east and west malls. Everything was perfect for another overcast and chilly afternoon in Japantown.
My friends and I wanted ramen after shopping in Japantown and wanted to go somewhere I haven't gone before. We found Waruku and immediately wanted to try it. The place is small and has a clean, modern aesthetic. Staff were quick to seat us and take our order.
We got a bunch of appetizers to start. The gyoza was fine, not bad but not great. The chicken karaage was very good. It was moist and freshly cooked. Dipping it in the mayo added even more flavor. We also got brussel sprouts. I normally don't like brussel sprouts but these hit different. They were fried, doused in sauce, and covered in bonito flakes. It was crisp and full of salty flavor from the sauce and flakes.
Then I had my bowl of ramen: the Black Garlic Tonkatsu DX. It looked fantastic! Filled to the brim with toppings. I was a big fan of the chunk of marinated pork. It was so tender and you can tell that it has been marinated for a very long time. The egg was perfectly soft boiled and added creaminess to an already creamy tonkatsu broth. I only wish there was an option to add spice or that there was hot oil. The spice on the table added more flavor but not enough heat.
The dessert was really delicious! We ordered the Black Sesame Mont Blanc. The sesame cream in top had a tasty roasted sesame flavor and inside was a cream and cake. It wasn't overly sweet and was a great end to a delicious meal.
I left Waruku feeling satisfied and recommend checking it out if you haven't already. Definitely get the sesame dessert!
Fast service, with wait time being 10-20 minutes. This is an excellent choice for ramen. The broth is consistently good and the ramen always hits the spot. Every ramen on the menu is good but I find if you mix the spicy with the black garlic you get the best flavor possible!
Gluten allergy? Don’t go here! You’d think a restaurant that offers gluten free noodles would actually have gluten free options. They don’t. They don’t have a single soup that is gluten free. They literally said if I wanted gluten free I could eat just the noodles plain. Or edamame. I gave the two stars because my husband loved his ramen, so if you have no allergies it’s apparently delicious. Also the kitchen felt bad so they made me brussel sprouts, which was appreciated. The service was really good but management needs to either take the noodles off the menu or come up with better gf options so people with allergies don’t waste their time.
Really nice ramen soup, should try. First time take here by friends, love Japan town so much and of of course, ramen here the best.
It is an authentic restaurant. I had a taru taru men noodles or something like that, and it was a really good dish!
The food was really tasty and the service was great. Broth on the tantanmen was delicious. Plenty of seating for our party of 5.
They also had a few outdoor tables if that is more your style
My husband, two years old son and I went there on a Saturday for lunch. It was a surprise to us that there was no guest at all. We ordered a black garlic ramen and rice bowl. The waiter brought up the dishes in just two to three minutes (surprised again how quickly they could make two). We asked for an empty bowl because we have three people. The waiter was very impatient and challenged us why we did not mention it in the first place. In any restaurant we went, they would bring an extra bowl since we have three. Most were very considerate to provide kids utensils. The service here made me very uncomfortable and I would not recommend anyone coming here if you want to have good mood for the rest of the day. Regarding the food, it was mediocre, no better than instant noodles, which explains no guess at noon during the weekend.
Black garlic ramen was sooooo good, great quantity as well. I'll highly recommend!
Place is nice and clean. Service is fast we came after lunch. Gezo Karaage and Chicken Karaage are good starters. I enjoyed my Black Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen. U should try this its their best seller.
The service is excellent, and the food is amazing, I Love Ramen, I pretty much live to eat Ramen, it was my first time there, I was with my whole family (1 toddler and 7yo kid + wife) we had a great time and my kids loved Ramen (first time for them).
If you are in Japan Town, this place won't let you down.
Tasty ramen, it wasn’t something really special I haven’t had before, but it was good.
They also provide garlic and garlic crusher if you want to add it to your ramen. I liked their big ramen bowls that came in different colors
I got the black garlic tonkatsu deluxe. It was delicious, I just wished that they had hot chili oil. We also ordered the appetizers and they were good. I like the geso fries alot. There was 1 server only when we came in and he was bussing his tables as well. There were many customers that came in, but they would leave due to the waiting and no service right away. That wasn't a problem to us.
No waiting line and also good quality
Note that the spicy tantan is really spicy. I tried my friend’s black garlic ramen which is also good choice.
The geso fry is crispy and tasty!
