Water Lounge Spa, Millbrae CA

Hi Zuyi, I appreciate the due diligence in your response.
Having lived in Chinese-speaking countries for years, I know there are cultural differences in conversation styles. But even in China/Taiwan, in my experience, a massage is NOT a place to having a conversation.
I've also never been smacked on the head during a massage.

Further, the fact that he is married makes it EVEN stranger that he was asking me to hang out when he's off work and telling me that I'm cute (followed by asking if I understood this statement when I stayed silent).

I'm sure Leo is a skilled masseuse and would be a match for a male client. But since I was so uncomfortable for the last half of the massage, I can't even recall his massage skill-and I left feeling far worse than when I went in.

Honestly, I'd rather not run the risk of having to interact with Leo again. I'm sure you'll understand why I wouldn't feel comfortable going back to get a massage, even from a female masseuse.

Hope that other female clients paired with Leo have a much better experience than I did.

Watch out for the male masseuse, Leo.
My experience with him was massively uncomfortable and invasive.

Massage started silent (because who wants to carry a conversation during a massage?), but halfway through Leo asked me what ethnicity I was, which alone was strange. Worse still, once he found out I could speak Chinese, he kept trying to talk to me for the rest of the massage:
- asking me abt my job and income
- asking my age and what kind/cost of apartment/house I live in
- asking me about my preference in men
- asking if I would date a Chinese man

Then he suggested that I come by on his days off to hang out? He even paused the massage, walked around and had me look at him, as if to consider him for a date. After I declined, he lightly SMACKED my head (like in an admonishing way). I think it was his style of flirting?

At different points after that head smack, he commented on my body shape and how “cute” I am—when I didn’t respond, he asked me if I understood his compliment. Incredibly uncomfortable.

Keep in mind, all of this occurred while I was UNCLOTHED. I couldn’t even comfortably report this to the woman at the front desk because Leo hovered nearby the entire time.

Overall, SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE and disappointing to experience. I had heard good things of this place but now I don’t know if I would risk it again.

2 stars because the reception lady was very friendly and quick to lead me to the massage room. The room itself was comfortable and the music was pleasant. Just my experience with Leo was incredibly invasive and violating.

Had a last minute massage and facial before my red eye back to NYC and it was so relaxing! Just what I needed

I was in San Francisco for a dance festival. I had the best massage here after a weekend of all night dancing.

What a great spot! They had last-minute availability, were so friendly throughout, and our masseuses did an amazing job. We really appreciated the effort put in. Worth a try if you’re in the area. We hope to make it back!

Masseuse did not appear to be trained or experienced, very little pressure, frustrating experience.

I like the staff there very much. They are very welcoming and warm like a family. The venue is very spacious, tidy and clean, making me comfortable

I've been coming here for years. Best full body massage anywhere. Solo or couples, male or female.one hr massage, esp.deep tissue is fantastic for athletic, blue collar, pain MGMT. Clean and spotless. Treat yourself, you deserve it!

This place is a hidden gem. Got here was greeted and went into the Himalayan salt sauna. Then got our massages. Then massages were so relaxing and after the whole thing it was soooooo relaxing walked out relaxed tired and stress free. Will definitely come again

I scheduled an appointment for an hour foot massage. After waiting more than 20 minutes with my feet in the warm water, I got up, put my shoes on and walked out with a refund. I wouldn't consider this place again. Plus their tipping note in the front - $45.00 one hour foot massage and they are asking $15 and above. Seriously? 30+% for a tip.

Spa experience was good but there’s an issue with the tip with front desk. You will be forced to give a lot of tip. Spa itself is pretty expensive so it didn’t make sense to give a hefty amount of tip.

I ask for a regular swedish massage which cost $89/hr. My experience was far from a swedish massage. I would say the overall massage is below average for the price.

Not bad for the price. But it smelled like moth balls and tiger balm. They did an awesome massage though. Definitely got my neck back without pain

I went with my mother in law on a Groupon. Honestly such a great experience considering it was my first time getting a full body massage and I got to experience the sauna. Such a great experience.

One thing I'll say is that it's a bit dated. BUT the massage was well worth it. Joanne did my massage and I didn't care much for my foot massage but the full body was worth it. She told me what areas were really tense and suggested what I could do in between visits should I come back. And she was so kind and patient and really catered to my needs. I will come back again. And will go back to the Millbrae site just for her. I'm not sure about the other site but the parking was very easy and not too hard to find. She helped a lot with the tension in my shoulder. Honestly I never had such a good rest after my visit. Also, the sauna was so incredible. There was crackers and water. And I really loved the crackers. Professional picky eater here. So I'm glad I went and will go again.
