Waterfront Hotel - JDV by Hyatt reviews
16Great balcony view. Nice room. Close to the ferry and the center. Just love the trains coming through
Great location but they double charged us and then couldn’t do anything about the double charge for 3-7 business days. They would say it is our bank and our bank would tell us it’s the hotels bank. Very very frustrating when one is trying to celebrate their husband’s birthday and we budgeted this for months beforehand.
I guess note to others if you stay here don’t use debit card… use a credit card if you can!
Here for a week, visiting Oakland family.
Jack London Square is a lovely spot. Our waterfront room looks out over the heated swimming pool and the sailboats docked at the marina to Alameda on the other side of the estuary. There is a waterfront restaurant with inside or heated outside dining right next door.
Things less than satisfactory include no breakfast included. There is a small attached stand-up coffee shop where you can buy a bagel and a cup of coffee for about sixteen dollars. A better choice is the Starbucks, just two blocks away.
Be prepared to be surprised if you are driving; NO FREE PARKING.there is ONLY valet parking available, for which the charge $35 per day. I complained, and they lowered the daily rate to ONLY $20 per day. I was not pleased with that.
Do not stay here. The staff are rude and dishonest. I was Offered an upgrade on my room for free and then they charged me for it anyway. Unfortunately, I did not look at my receipt until I got home. When I called about it, I was basically told I was a liar and the charged me the $35 anyway. The room was well over $300 and the hotel was an outdated dump.
Amazing area and very clean rooms. Rooms are very small and in desperate need of an upgrade. Everything is sized for a 4' 10" person. Strong disappointed
I stayed here one night. Part of Hyatt JDV but the room is more like an upscale motel room, and the service was not good. Valet parking I need to walk to my car and the breakfast is offered in coffee shop instead of restaurant. The location is not in a safe area. I will never stay here.
Although the property is in need of an update, John at the front desk was extremely helpful. We arrived and needed to make some changes and John was so accommodating and made everything perfect. He was kind and worked hard to make everything work for us.
Nice stay with views of the ocean. Nicely priced for jack London Square and ocean views. I'll definitely stay here again.
Great location and amazing service from staff. Rooms are a little outdated and carpets are stained.
I stayed at the Hotel for my Birthday week September 19th to September 22nd, I was disappointment that my room was not cleaned everyday for the amount of money we paid, the maid only gave us cleaned towels and dumped the trash so it was only cleaned and bed made for 1 day the hotel is older needs some updates the water view was very nice. Some of the staff was nice, our female car attendant was very nice she gave us information on restaurants and directions.
Restaurant was not open and only the bar with limited menu. I called and i was told the restaurant would be open.
Staff was the best part of this place with the exception of the girl that checked us in. Place is a bit rundown but was pretty good overall. We were in town for a wedding and only stayed one night but it was good enough. Wish I could've hit up the Ben & Jerry's close by!
With great views and a good stone throw to the ferry, this is a great place to stay. Whether for a weekend away or a business meeting, I have found the waterfront to be perfect everytime.
Unfortunate situation.
My spouse test positive for COVID, and we thought it would be unethical to stay at the hotel and expose guests and staff.
I requested a refund or credit, but we were told there are no exceptions to the cancellation penalty.
At least we did the right thing.
Rooms here are huge very clean as well as the property. Hotel staff are pretty good also. The location is down town and Oakland is not a gigantic city so everything is pretty close even the San Francisco Bridge and train station. Not my thing but to whom it may concern a dispensary is a few blocks away or like a 10 minute walk. Good food including soul food is moments from the property. My biggest issue was attempting to get to the lobby coming from your hotel room. Different elevators take you to different parts of the hotel and the lobby may not be accessible (I could find it). My biggest highlight was the views from the rooms that overlook the water with boats sailing or parked. The view made the hotel a standout although it was a very standard hotel.
