Way of a Dog reviews
16I absolutely loved the training experience! Joe is awesome and had taught me how to improve on being a better furry parent!
Spent 3 hours with Joe, time well spent. We have plenty of tools, to teach Maggie some manners. Highly recommend
Joe is a local treasure. He has a deep understanding of the psychology behind conditioning and training that gets fast results. We have been to dog trainers before, but nobody like Joe. We now have a blueprint for controlling our new dog…most of which is specific technique, but with a huge dose of love! Our Labradoodle, Kody, was the trainee, but our 14-year old yellow lab received some benefit as well. Can’t say enough about WayOfTheDog…it is the difference between puppy chaos and quality of leash-life!
Cheers,
John and Susan Bennett
I wanted to wait a bit before reviewing so I could have a chance to put the trainers techniques into practice. With that being said, Joe was fun, boisterous, and quite theatrical in his coaching style. It’s 2 weeks later and we’re really happy with our pups results. He trained us how to train the dogs and his methods have been working!
In just a few minutes Joe had my out of control bully watching workmen across the street without barking!
Joe is great and animated but gentle with my two dogs. I am so pleased with the huge progress of my two highly anxious dogs within three hours of training. I tried but the method was ineffective. I am very happy and will give updates on my ongoing training without Joe. Lol. Thank you, Joe!
I learned a lot from Joe. My dog isn’t very problematic, but would bark if people knocked on the door or if he heard something, and was poor mannered when it came to his walks.
Joe will teach you the fundamentals such as how the mind of a dog works, simple drills to train your dog to control their energy, and how to effectively communicate with your dog.
In our three hour session we were already seeing progress with my dog’s behavior. My dog still isn’t close to where I want him to be, but it’s years of bad habits that I need to break and Joe left me on a path that I could feel confident with taking my dog’s training.
Joe is a very knowledgeable and professional dog trainer. And it's obvious that he loves his work! In one session I could see a remarkable change in Holly. She listens and responds appropriately. If she slips up, she corrects on cue. She's also calmer as she knows how happy I am with her good work. Cheers to Joe!
My wild, full of energy little pup is a very different pup today after our first training session! And I totally mean ‘our’ — training for her and me as well. She is on her way to becoming a well behaved little angel.
I am a newbie at being a dog owner…. And we didn’t start out with one but two puppies! Joe put us through Puppy101 and taught our pups a thing or two as well. We have only been through the introductory class, but have learned what to do and not to do. Now we are implementing what we have learned and will continue towards happy humans and happy puppies!
Joe was amazing, he had our puppy listening and working with us in three hours, we loved working with Joe.
Joe thank you so much for all your help.

It's been about a month since Joe came to our home to guide us in training our 6mo.old pit-bull mix puppy. He is highly energetic, did not have good leash manners, and had a moderate prey drive (we have 3 cats). Important to note: Allow Joe to explain. He does use a lot of storytelling (which we enjoyed) as a means of conveying important messages regarding dog behavior. Key takeaway: Dogs think and act based on their understanding of "the way things work" and in response to their environment. We are teachers and must provide consistent guidance so that they understand our "rules" and what we are asking them to do or not to do. Joe was able to get our rambunctious boy to focus, walk well on the leash, "calm down" in his highly energetic state (as you would expect from a puppy.), "go to bed" in the kennel, and corrected him when he went after one of our cats at the end of session. This training will not work for you if you do not keep up with your homework. Joe provided an audio recording summarizing what we discussed in session and how to continue working with our dog. Consistency is key. Joe doesnt work miracles. He provides guidance and a foundation for YOU to train a good dog. After 1 month, this is our outcome: He goes to bed in the kennel when asked, stays in place, waits to eat until told to "go" (he used to body slam us to get to his food), and has not gone after the cats in weeks after 2 more corrections. We continue to work on leash manners. Finally, I would like to mention not to take things personally. Joe will correct you in addition to the dog. I lacked firm commands and did not have a good handle on walking. Be willing to accept constructive criticism for the benefit of you and your dog. Thanks, Joe! (:
He really helped us learn how to show my dog she isn’t the boss and gave us the tools to help ease her anxiety so we can all have a happy life. Thank you!
Joe is an enthusiastic and engaging trainer. Our family learned a lot right along with our dogs. An invaluable experience.
Joe came into our home of 3,7 month old puppies (husky, german shepherd, and english bulldog). He really helped understand what our fur babies needed from us, and after 3 hours of training with Joe, we can walk our shepherd without losing an arm! The energy has mellowed so much!
It's going to take us people to be consistent and dedicated to implement what we learned today, but we feel so excited to see the change already. Joe helped my twin 14 year old daughters learn his techniques along me, mom.
Thank you Joe!
Our Charlie has a ton of pup energy and we were definitely at a loss. We are thankful we found Joe and his unique style of training. He definitely speaks our language and we will continue to out in practice everything he taught our family. Thank you Joe.
