We Olive & Wine Bar, Costa Mesa CA

I had an a counter with the mentally unwell owner/manager. After my cousin told me about her recent experience getting dateraped while we had a flight of wine. My cousin went to check in at our table next door and told me to guard her drinks to make sure they weren’t altered.

After she left, the shorter plump woman with long hair and glasses came to me and asked if my friend told me to guard her drink. I said yes and she starts pouring out our flights telling us we must check out and leave. Before she could finish her sentence she changed her mind and told me just to leave and never come back. She did not care what I had to say in response. Our table was ready and I left.

After eating dinner, we passed the manager outside smoking. She yells out how rude we were for thinking a service worker would alter a drink, would remember our faces if we ever came back and would not even bother to hold a conversation to fully explain the situation.

I am flabbergasted at this woman’s idea of good service and I hope the Mix sees these repeated encounters with this establishment and steps in.

Their product is very good and very expensive I love that place still go there just have to save my money Went to other Olive stores about the same price but not as good as quality

The owner couple sweared and shouted even almost hit family with 3year old boy. They should be banned to keep their wine shop for other people’s safety.

The owner couple have serious anger management issue. I knew there was something definitely wrong with them and after I read few reviews saying similar situations, I can guaranty that there is a mental issue they have. They shouted and humiliated to their customers first with no manner and almost hit my husband who was trying to have a conversation. The couple threatened and crazily yelled at us (we were holding 3 year old boy-see how they have no understanding of basic manner), and said they will called the security which we thought it was the best way so we agreed. It was impossible to have a conversation with them, also wanted to be sure of our safety.

After waiting a while for “security”coming I asked them “when will the securities coming? ” And the women lost herself and shouted and sweared like a maniac “leave fxxxxx xxxxx! ” It was almost comical. Haha

I am sure now they didn’t even call the security because obviously they are the one who started yelling and violence.

They did this to a family with 3year old kid, and we have never encountered this issue in our lives. I have never seen something like this. How are they still having their business?

We will make formal complain to the Mix and please give me messages if any of you witnessed the scene. - other occasions are also welcomed since I do believe that these people have to lose their license.

Nice spot to get a wine flight, and has a good atmosphere. Bartender is attentive and helpful. They do not serve food, but you can purchase cheese and chips at the adjacent cheese shop, and you can pair a cheese to your wine. Perfect!?

Unfortunately I have to leave an honest bad review of this place, despite how great it is. I don't normally bother to write bad reviews, or reviews in general, but this was something else. As an introvert I hate confrontation and usually stay quiet when unpleasant situations occur, but the shorter, full-build, brunette guy who works there is a total rude d***, pardon the language. I have visited this spot a couple of times and never had a bad experience until now.

I had scheduled a small meetup of about 10-15 people on a Sunday afternoon, which is not a busy time for this location at all. The guy got very upset and said we had to call in advance and that he couldn't serve everyone. No one was ordering yet, but he was acting extremely agitated for no reason. I was trying to figure out a plan of where to go next, but he literally came out to the patio area where we were hanging out and told us to "clear out". Wow, that was a first. I hope the actual owner realizes how much business he lost that day. I guess they only allow 4 people at a time, and prefer to cater to bougie clientele. Never coming back here again, and definitely putting the word out to the other Meetup organizers about how we were treated.

Great wine selection, amazing place for a glass of wine or even a bottle to share.

I have been before and really liked it. But the bartender was so slow and obviously in a bad mood which tainted the entire dinning area.

This wine shop is fantastic! They have opulent furnishings, delectable cuisine, and the finest wine selection. They've always been my favorite and go-to wine shop for everything I wanted.

DO NOT give this establishment your business. Today I witnessed two gentlemen be treated horribly by who I believe is the owner. They simply asked if they could order two glasses of wine and take it out on the patio. He said no. When they asked if another establishment would let them, he pointed across the way and said “they might illegally let you”. When these two customers noticed that the business indeed had an outside patio and enquired if they could sit out there and have wine, he said “yes”. One of the men asked him why he did not mention that when he asked a minute earlier, the business owner/employee responded “I thought you were talking about another patio”. Really? Is this how you treat your customers? When one of the men made a comment under his breath/mask about this businessman’s rudeness, the wine bar owner literally lunged toward him very aggressively. If the counter was not separating them I believe he would have actually hit him. Everyone around us watched aghast. I mean we were there for a relaxing Sunday afternoon stroll around SOCO, not front row seats at a boxing match at Madison Square Garden. Stay away!

Some of the best pasta in LA at the right price point. Delicious desserts too. Unfussy and informal. But the no reservations policy can get tough and the online wait list doesn't always work. Consequently there are long waits and rushed staff. This could be improved on. Otherwise just great!

Waited 5 min with a party of 3 for service, despite eye contact no acknowledgement. Gave up. Never be back.

This wine shop is prime! They had a wide range of good collections of wine. One thing that I liked about this wine shop. You could taste the wine first before buying them. The staves will help you to choose a great wine. Also, they were friendly, and accommodating as well. The food from this shop was great as well.

Cozy wine shop to spend time with friends or a partner. They have a wide selection, and the wines I tried were great. This place is really good when you want to unwind or relax. I like how calm the ambiance of this place. The food that I ordered matches the wine that I had.

Cool craft brewery, the service was decent - I was standing a one side of the bar and no one paid attention to me and then went around the other side where the line was even though I'd just seen people served on my side, and then I got skipped in the line!

This restaurant was super cozy with a nice authentic italian feel. We came here to treat my grandma for her birthday and had great service and easy parking. I had a nice glass of house red wine as well. The bread service was disappointing, however, as the bread wasn't very fresh or tasty and came with marinara sauce as opposed to olive oil and vinegar.

I would give 5-stars to this shop! They entertained me very well when I was about to buy a bottle of wine for my grandpa. When I stay there for a couple of hours, honestly, I enjoyed it. The place was tidy, cool, and relaxing. Besides, the waiter did not disappoint me with the wine he served. It tastes good. Thanks!

I can't wait until the lockdown is over doo I can come to wine, cheese and olive oil tastings. Happy to pick up some jam and tapenade today.

Fun place to have a drink and sit at the bar or patio. Beer was good and the staff was really friendly and accommodating.
