So sketchy. The neighborhood is not great, the apartments are old and kinda icky, and the management is really mean. Maintenance is super nice and good though

This place used to be decent but has quickly gone down hill. Lots of low income residents. Lots of weed smoking, loud music, yelling. Don’t recommend living here for the price you’ll be paying.

Paul is my guy! 11/10 dude, extremely helpful. I would move into this apartment just to be in Paul's presence. Paul for president 2024, calling it right now guys. Manager lady is a wee bit boujie (in a good way fam) but Paul is the vibe. My life has changed completely after meeting Paul. Keep up the good work Paul! I strongly encourage whomever is reading this to give Paul a raise! If not I am going on a hunger strke.

TLDR: Don’t live here. They’ve left us without AC for THREE MONTHS in the middle of a heat wave (so far- it’s still broken as I’m writing this review). There’s close to zero communication on this whenever I ask, and it’s pretty clear building management doesn’t care.

If you’re even thinking of living here, please DM me and I (as a public service) will do my best to convince you not to. Living here has literally inspired me to write five-star reviews of my previous apartments because I did not realize how good I had it at those places.

Long Version: This property used to be managed by Equity, and it was fine when it was. Unfortunately the building was sold to Greystar, and the experience has been pretty poor since then. Zero replies to emails from the leasing office, confusion on whether we would be able to renew, residents taking up guest parking spots, etc.

We were willing to put up with this, but the thing that really pushed us to the breaking point was when our AC broke in late April- I’m writing this in August, and they still haven’t fixed it. Every time I ask somebody about this I either don’t get a reply or a super generic one about shipping delays. I’m not sure they even know the part that needs to be replaced at this point.

I understand that there are shipping and supply chain issues right now. But communicating about the issue goes a long way: when my partner when to the front desk to ask, she was brushed off and told by a manager “I don’t know anything about that”. I’m pretty sure that “knowing something about that” is in your job description.

Also, I was excited when this building got turned into affordable housing (because affordable housing is awesome)! But just know that the rent they’re going to charge you is $2200 at the *minimum* according to the sheets we all got. That’s HIGHER than the rent we paid when this was a normal apartment under Equity.

Greystar: please do better. I have talked to other residents. Our experience is not unique.

When I first arrived here, it was admitting a little rocky. However, the last few months I’ve seen improvements in the responsiveness and the overall cleanliness of the complex. I’m hoping the improvements continue as I enjoy this area.

The maintenance is very good, comparing to all other places I lived at, my repair tickets get worked promptly and the maintenance staff is very friendly and get things done quickly.

Westgate Apartments is a phenomenal location to live in. Kimber is the leasing consultant who helped us and she is wonderful. Her uplifting attitude and mirth created a memorable experience. Sam and Suzanne both helped me along the way and also provided wonderful service. The apartment itself is fantastic. The gym is spacious and the clubhouse is perfect for reading a book. The home is located a block away from Old Town and walking is a breeze. Since my time there I have easily reached multiple coffee shops, book stores and bars. Westgate has left a lasting impression and I thank the office for being so patient and helpful.

I signed the lease with Westgate Apartments last month, and they backed out of my lease two weeks after I signed the lease. It posted many problems for me as I am a student. I would say don't sign a lease with Westgate Apartment if the current resident hasn't moved out because Lorna said there's nothing she could do about that.

After that, Lorna gave me another unit to choose from. It's not the best, but it's fine.

In terms of the apartment, everything looks great. Except a somewhat dirty washer and dryer that have thick layers of fungi in it. I feel like it's pretty old, but you get a big space.

Lorna is pretty nice. She replied her emails fast and is always there to help.

Maintenance by Daisy Martinez is always done with perfection and knows what she is doing regardless of what job is in front of her. She the best!

Terrible experience with the leasing office. I had a signed lease and paid the deposit when 2 weeks before my move-in date they basically backed out of the lease. The existing tenant decided to extend and Westgate made NO accommodations to get me into a new unit. They held onto my deposit and offered a similar unit for priced $120+ more than the original unit. The leasing office was managed by Lorna and she really couldn’t care less about the situation they put their prospective tenants in.

Horrible maintanence! Our AC waiting for repair since January (6 months). We are living in an 90 degree apartment. They are just postponing us. And we are not even able to find a person that we can get useful feedback. It is also so noisy. They start blow clean streets at 8 am and do this for a couple of times a week

I moved out in Sept 2019 and they still have my phone number in their intercom system. I've been constantly getting phone calls from people asking to be let in the building. This is a huge security issue yet no one seems to respond to my emails asking to be removed from the system. They also lost my move out request documents and were surprised when I was moving out. The place is really nice and everything but I was not happy with the staff.

This apartment complex seems great a first glance, but the underlying quality and customer experience worse than I ever would have expected. I wouldn't recommend moving here until the price (for a 1 bedroom) drops below $1850. Definitely read more reviews and talk to residents on site here before you move in as many other people have the same feeling

The nice things about the place is that the proximity to Old Town is great, the building itself seems study and fairly soundproof, and the exterior areas look nice.

However, the underlying quality that you really only discover once you move in is quite poor. Literally everything they fill the apartment with (appliances, door handles, carpet, paint job, AC units) is very cheap making it difficult to use and easily breakable. When they do break, the staff is incredibly slow and ineffective at fixing these issues. Bottom line, make sure to inspect the apartment and appliances very thoroughly before you move, and don't trust the leasing agents when they promise to fix something later; make sure you're okay with the apartment exactly as it is beforehand.

I unfortunately signed the lease to my current apartment while it was ongoing renovations, and the leasing agent assured me it would be fixed up when I moved in. However, there was almost no change between when I viewed the "work in progress" before signing and what they actually delivered. Overhead lighting was missing, front door lock malfunctioned, bathroom door couldn't close, windows screens uninstalled (left hanging in the window lol), damaged blinds with holes, kitchen cabinets severely scratched on the outside and stained on the inside, and from all appearances hadn't cleaned it before hand; there was a lot of dust on many of the surfaces and the carpet was dirty that I had to clean myself.

About 3 or 4 times, repairmen have come and assured they would fix most of these issues. They say they'll get parts and return, but then never follow-up. When I contact them again, I find out they never ordered anything and the process repeats itself. I later contacted the leasing office as well, and they do exactly the same thing! I've been waiting 3 months for them to fix multiple items that should have been done before I moved it. They seem to have some serious management issues which leaves them unable to effectively respond to any issues that arise. I plan to move out a soon as my lease is up.

Highly recommend working with Hiromi on leasing process! She was patient, knowledgeable, and just overall wonderful to work with. While I ultimately did not rent with westgate (which had nothing to do with the apartment complex or staff), I would definitely work with Hiromi again if my circumstances changed.

This is the worst apartment I've been lived in. The service is zero and they will charge you a lot while you move out. Also, even it is the fault of leasing company, they will lie to you to cover it. It is so ridiculous.

Very nice apartment and my leasing associate Gabriela is very helpful and patient. Look forward to joining this community one week later.

For the amount of rent that we are paying, it's not worth it. The security is really bad. There are a lot of cases of stolen packages and I experienced it and also a lot of tenants experienced it. My bike and cart (big items) got stolen inside the building premises. At one point, we also saw drugs paraphernalia in the stairwell, some sketchy individuals roaming around the premises. So again, it goes back to a very poor security. It is ridiculous. Can't wait for the end of our lease to move out. We just dont feel safe here anymore.
