Westside Joe's Bikes, Alameda CA

My experience was very bad. I went to get my bike assembled. The mechanic was not able to put together the Brakes properly. I was very unhappy that I picked this place. The owner was very concerned as it took some time for the mechanic to finish assembling the bike.

Retail store, not very cool vibe, I thought being back in Cali I'd find a stoked bike shop. Disappointing, will no go back.

I am now officially over Westside Joe’s Bike Shop. I have had such bad experiences there. I wanted to believe in them. Locally and family owned business with (what i thought were charmingly) stupid, small town commercials at the local theater. Now it all just seems so small town and very poorly run. It is unorganized, badly coordinated among staff who are salty with their customers who want to be loyal to them. The owner doesn’t seem to care about repair, maybe she just wants to sell more expensive bikes. Several times now when I have gone to get my bike (that I bought there) worked on I got aggressive mechanics who seem angry at me for bringing business to them. Once or twice I have had some decent experiences, but I won’t go back any more. Now I have to figure out a new bike place to get commuter bike worked on.

I bought an e-bike from them October of 2022. The bike stopped working 18 days ago. The brand of bike I bought from them is a very reputable brand, but unfortunately in their foray into the e-bike market, they made a bad choice for the motor and controller parts. That company has no US support, and it was hard to get support for this problem. Westside Joe's Bikes worked hard on resolving the issue, going between the bike manufacturer and the motor vendor. They got me the bike back as soon as possible. I will buy another bike from them, though perhaps not of this brand.

On a previous visit the guy wasn't very nice but I but I made a purchase anyway I came back again and the girl was very nice and I made another purchase I went in again today and the guy from before wasn't very nice again it seemed like he had a attitude like the attitude he had before that said I won't be back again and you'd think being a small neighbor bike shop they'd be a little more courteous but it's too late for all that. I won't be back

Grae gave me a great deal on a hybrid Bianchi that was less than what was available online even before shipping. At that time they gave free service for the first year for bikes purchased from them & the staff was always friendly & accommodating to always fit me in & quickly get me back on the road with an expertly tuned bike. This shop is a local gem

Run or ride quickly to this bike shop! I was looking to replace my Linus bike and found Westside Joe’s online. I was able to see a spreadsheet online of what was in stock- the most brilliant idea ever- and went right over. Vivee is the best- not only selling me the bike I wanted but calling in the mechanic in to make some adjustments so I could ride it home same day. A month later and I’m finally writing a review- I’ve been too busy enjoying my new bike! Thank you Vivee!
